  • I started MFP 3rd week in January with the goal of losing 18 lbs over 18 weeks. I lost 7 pounds in 4 weeks. I'm at the end of my 5th week of MFP now and have lost 8.5 lbs. My calorie goal has been 1,340/day and I hit that goal about 75% of the time. I would really have a hard time on 1,200 cal/day. On days I exercise, the…
  • I told 3 co-workers about MFP. Two of them are using it...not as diligently as they should be but they are exercising a lot and losing weight. The other co-worker who has a lapband (that's no longer really acting as a lapband), initially lost about 80 lbs with the lapband, gained it all back, has cholesterol out the roof,…
  • Are you an over pronator? I am and I need cushion. I vote for Asics Kayanos I8s. I can run in them right out of the box...and they provide decent arch support. The Kayano 19s haven't been out long so you can still get the 18s and on a good sale. You might also try the Brooks Trance or Brooks Adrenalin if you over pronate.…
  • The goals you set for yourself in MFP seem MUCH MORE realistic and doable than what TBL participants have to undergo. I agree though that it would be a fascinating study to compile all of the data from willing MFP users' reports...I know not everyone is as diligent as they could be using MFP but it would be nice to see…
  • Glad you made it through! MFP has given me a feeling of control in just providing me with the knowledge of what I'm really eating or not eating. But with that has come that occasional panicky feeling when I'm eating out or even cooking a big hurried dinner for family because it's so hard to keep track of what's going into…
  • If i'm in a pinch I eat 1 slice toasted Rudi's whole wheat bread with 2 teaspoons of natural peanut butter, and 1 teaspoon of jam/all fruit and drink lots of water. Tides me over until I can eat a real meal (usually about an hour later). About 180 cal, 6g fat, 6g protein.
  • My MFP goal is at 2500. Had no idea the AHA recommends only 1500 - thanks for this info. Yikes. I seem to hover around 2500 but have gone over and under. I have no issues with blood pressure and when my body is craving something salty I eat it! I usually do not add salt to any foods I cook at home, except guacamole (can't…
  • P.S. tracking calories and all that every day is totally new territory for me...never done it in my life, but MFP makes it so easy. If I can do it anyone can!!!!!
  • I know exactly how you feel...I'm getting ready to hit that same milestone in June and had the epiphany in in Jan! Good luck! Hang with MFP! I swear it works if you can become a little obsessive about really thinking about what you're eating, planning your foods, and of course entering it ALL on MFP. I've been doing what…
  • I'm 5'10" and have hovered at 138-145 pretty much since high school (not counting weight during pregnancy) until being sidelined with injuries over the past 18 months. I recently joined MFP when I hit 158...which is what I weighed the day I quit breastfeeding 12 years ago (hit 184 lbs day before baby arrived). Never dieted…
  • Thank you for this advice. I'm going to see what I'm averaging on protein and think about increasing it. I've never tracked #s and have been trying to follow MFP recommendations but I haven't researched the accuracy of what it is telling me.
  • Been wondering the same thing about 1 hr of reformer pilates. I think this app tells me I'm burning about 179 cal for one hour...just not sure if that's accurate but am using this number because don't know what else to put in. I am often thinking now though "dig a little deeper and burn a couple of extra calories!"
  • I joined almost 2 weeks ago and I flipped out when I plugged in the Club Tuna sandwich from Jimmy Johns on the multi-grain bread...like over 900 freakin calories and 45+ grams of fat! I work right over a Jimmy Johns and have been eating that stupid sandwich for damn near 1x or 2x/week for 9 months!! I am disgusted!! I…
