  • You could try doing Tai Chi after work. It's slow and calming, but still a great workout.
  • Here's an article about a study done on men using green tea capsules, http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/01/02/green-tea-weight-loss.aspx
  • Make a cupcake for each person. Or don't do cake, make a light pudding cup with light cool whip topped with colorful sprinkles. Make a new tradition with something new. Or take the one cupcake, pull it apart and layer it cake/pudding/coolwhip top with sprinkles.
  • You can download Handbrake on your laptop/computer which will turn dvds into digital format. Then all you have is the workout and no commercials on your computer.
  • I like making a breakfast "omwich". Four large egg whites in a small glass bowl that is sprayed with 0 calorie butter flavor spray, whisk curry powder into them, cook in the microwave for 2:30 minutes (I have a microwave that is over 22 years old so it takes longer to cook things, you'd have to test yours for the time).…
  • There's also an app for your phone that will beep at you when it's time to run/walk. You can get it on their website http://www.c25k.com/
  • My husband <3
  • I think back to how terrible I felt a year ago when I started my weight loss journey and I compare it to now. I feel absolutely amazing and I never want to go back to where I was before, mentally & physically. That makes me want to do better every day. Plus, I think of all the things I want to be able to do like run a race…
  • Thursday morning works best for me. I do weigh during the week to see how my progress is going. If I'm at the same or more I workout harder & eat better that day. But Thursdays weigh in is the one that gets logged whether it's up, down or the same as the Thursday before.
  • I recently bought the DanskinNow 10# kettlebell and it comes with a workout on DVD. I love it. I also have the KettleNetics set that comes with a 4# kettlebell and workouts on DVD. They really work you!! I borrowed a 10 Minute Solutions Kettlebell workout from the library, it has five 10 minute workouts that you can mix &…
  • I agree with what everyone else is saying. I'd also like to add that maybe you should change up your workout routine. Add a different kind of cardio. For me, if I do the same thing my body just stalls, that's why I am constantly doing a different kind of exercise every day. Kickboxing, kettlebell/KettleNetics, Jillian or…
  • I log it as 20 minutes "Calisthenics (pushups, sit-ups), vigorous effort"
  • Cardio, cardio, cardio... and more cardio. That's what you need to burn the fat out of your body. Add in strength training to build up the muscles. I would suggest getting the book Strength Training Anatomy by Frederic Delavier. It shows what specific muscles get worked by exercises.
  • I've always heard you shouldn't have cold drinks with meals because it affects digestion. Warm or hot drinks are ok to drink with a meal. Here's an article about the cold drinks. http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/nutrition/healthy-eating/ice-water-and-digestion.html
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :drinker:  I turned 40 last October... it's not too bad at all to be 40, but then again, I hated the 30's and couldn't wait to get out of them.
  • Great job! Thanks for posting your pics. It's always inspirational to see others progress.
  • For me it's Riesen Chocolates. They are my "sweet thing" I allow myself for the day.
  • I love kettlebell workouts!! Here's a webMD article about calories burned, they say you can burn 20 calories per minute. http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/news/20100212/kettlebell-workouts-burn-calaories-fast
  • That sounds soooo good. Thanks for sharing!
  • I suggest to just let it go and focus on yourself. When your friend sees the new you, then she'll know she made a mistake. Maybe then she will be ready to take care of herself. Good luck!
  • My question would be, what are you missing in your life that you are replacing it with food? I only ask that because I'm the kind of person that will replace one addiction with another. And food is a big addiction. Alot of people think binge eaters eat just to eat, but it can actually be an addiction. As long as you're not…
  • That does sound good! I hope someone gives you info on how to post a pic
  • If it helps your decision, every piece of Weslo equipment I've had (bike & treadmill) broke right away, I won't ever by anything made by Weslo again. And I was well under the weight limit on them.
  • You might want to see if your mom would like to do Tai Chi. You can check out a DVD at the library and show her what it is, if she thinks she would like it you could find a class at a gym. I would think once the exercising kicks in eating better will fall into place. You could try leaving her some healthy snacks to try…
  • I go by the half your body weight in ounces, so, at 212 you should be drinking at least 106 ounces every day, which equals 13.25 eight ounce cups. A bit more if you workout hard and sweat alot.
  • Both workouts are great! I'm doing the Shred now, today will be day 26, level 3. I have a back injury from a car accident so I missed a couple days because of flare-ups, other than that I've done it every day since I started. I love it, level 3 is definitely not easy!!! I had to adjust a couple of the exercises so my back…
  • I like to order workout DVD's from the library. We can order from libraries all over the State, so there's a good variety.
  • I would suggest going to a sports shop with professionals to fit you with a good running shoe, e.g. Footlocker, Adidas Shop, Nike Shop...etc. Yes, it will be a bit pricy, but for a first time runner, you should get a proper fitting for your running shoes. My hubby has been running for years and just used cheap…
  • I mix it up between plain water, Stash brand Chai Green Tea, SoBe 0 calorie LifeWater, and Crystal Light Pure Fitness flavor packets you add to a bottle of water.
  • I go by the half your body weight in ounces rule.... a 200# person would need to drink 100 oz a day. It works for me. I feel better and my skin looks better when I get my full amount every day. When I don't get enough water I get a red face and everyone thinks there's something wrong with me...lol.
