  • What about getting some chicken (no skin) and making a low-cal bbq chicken snack? Kinda like wings, but healthier. Add lots of carrots or other vegetables in the same sauce to bulk the meal up. Dark chocolate is also the way forward if you're craving chocolate. Or try having fruit covered in chocolate, that way you'll feel…

  • I eat back on exercise days because a) I like the reward/motivation (or the drive to exercise when I 'accidentally' had a too big lunch) and b) my exercise patterns aren't as regular as yours so I can't quite be sure how much I'm going to do in a given week.
  • I just used that site you linked to and it gave me these numbers: BMR: 1744 TDEE: 2093 TDEE -20%: 1674 So my TDEE-20% is lower than my BMR. I eat back exercise calories as my exercise patterns can vary a lot depending on how much work I have to do (I'm a student so when deadlines are looming there's much less time) so I…
  • I'm putting my goals at the different weights I want to reach. I really don't want much as I buy clothes/have clothes bought for me as needed, and always get earrings for birthday/chrismas and don't wear any other jewellery. I wish I did because I really love the charm bracelet idea. I do have a Troll beads charm bracelet…
  • Sounds good. :) Why do you use egg substitute? They don't seem to sell that kind of thing in the UK? Or at least not in most supermarkets. Have you tried just using eggs?
  • That sounds really good. I might try this some time soon. Do they last for a couple of days in the fridge? What veggies keep well in them? I a bit fussy about that (for example, I don't like how peppers freeze and go all soft ... eww).
  • I had my free box. I decided to get one every so often because they're PORTABLE snacks. Soooo much easier when on the go (which for me, isn't all that often). At home, I make up my own snacks because I don't have to worry about keeping things fresh, appetizing looking etc. I have a code I posted on twitter (it's a UK one)…
  • I'm an emotional eater so I don't really need to track calories when I go over to figure out where I went wrong. If I'm having a rough time, well I go over. A lot. I do consciously make the decision to do so and it only happens in the evening and then I'll have one large delicious item but usually tracking exactly what I…
  • I've not had a chance to read quite everything people have said but what I have mostly sounds really supportive and I hope you manage to keep going. Maybe someone has said this before but I thought I'd offer a small suggestion. You say you cook dinner and she might be frustrated at the lack of carbs/portion size. Have you…
  • Depends on what your macros are and if you need more protein (protein shake) or carbs/fibre ... (more found in fruit). Also, which do you like better/find tastiest? If you need more protein but like the taste of fresh fruit, as issyfit below said, you could just combine them.
  • Well, I've only been dieting for a couple of weeks so it seems like a major change that could affect my health, so that's why I've been wondering about it. I drink between 1l and 2l of herbal tea a day.
  • I have a similar problem. I didn't change my sugar goal from what it's automatically set at but I go over it every day without adding any sugar to my diet, just what's in fruit etc naturally...

  • Surely not in one go? If you mean in several goes, I'm in.
  • I've not had any luck with dating sites but I've used okcupid and it's generally an alright site. I've joined a bookgroup instead and hoping to make new friends through activities instead. Try meetup.com for your area maybe and see if you fancy anything?
  • Thanks for all the advice! :) What is the problem of doing aerobics with weights? Surely it trains the muscles as well? I currently can't afford to pay to see a physio privately and I'm feeling like joining a gym might be the better choice so I can get started under some supervision though that will mean waiting a couple…
  • The Denis Austin ones look good, I'll give them a shot. Although some do look fairly fast paced which I might not be able to keep up with but I guess I'll only get fitter by trying harder.
  • I guess I meant something that won't overwhelm a newbie when I said easy! I know it's meant to burn but I don't want to either feel like I'm dying or do any damage. I have some cartilage issues that I'm currently attempting to get into physio for but the health system is slooooow and so far, I've been told to do more…
  • Fish/prawns are a good replacement for chicken that goes well with pasta. Also, while not majorly different, turkey is also an option. You can try varying things like mince, steak and diced meat (goes for pretty much all options though I'm not a fan of minced poultry). Maybe try having some beans or chick peas too? I know…
  • Wow, some of these sound extreme. I've been meaning to do the workout I do at home in the mornings (just fairly low impact 30min cardio exercises). I normally get up around 9 am unless I have an early class, but even then I only get up at 7:30am. So I think I'll aim for around 6am tomorrow. Would people advice a quick…
  • I started using FitnessBlender too. They have a fair amount of easy stuff too (as I'm fairly new to this stuff) and low impact stuff as well for those with joint problems (again, like me). What I like about them, is that I can keep at the same pace as the trainer which helps me a lot so while videos often say, you can go…
  • I don't weigh myself all that often, especially as I've not noticed any weight loss yet (been at this a couple of weeks). I was wondering, for the ladies, have you found that your cycle effects your weight? I was planning on weighing myself once a month but wondering during what part of the cycle would be best?
