  • I worked with a woman who milked this for all it was worth. She came in an hour late every day after dropping the kids off. She left early every chance she could to pick them up. PD days she worked from home. Sick kid, she was home. Christmas vacation and spring break, she was "working" from home (she would show as…
  • Since recommitting to my journey on May 13, I'm down a housecat.
  • People who whine when shown that they've doing a task incorrectly and the mistake is starting to become a big problem. "But that's how *insert name* told me to do it..." And they get super defensive about it and the whiny tone of voice carries across the whole office. Dude, just acknowledge the error and get on with fixing…
  • Another option is to try out a meal-kit delivery service. They give you all of the pre-measured ingredients and detailed instructions to create the meal yourself. You don't have to worry about the grocery shopping or have leftover ingredients you may never need again.
  • I want to weigh a good 20-30 pounds less than my husband again. I did it a few years ago, and I felt so amazing! Stress and emotional eating has slowly put me back almost to where I started again. I'm also going through my version of a mid-life crisis, I guess you could say. I turned 46 this year, and I'm rocking purple…
  • My Keeshond is perpetually 5-10 pounds overweight because other people won't stop feeding her when I take her to work with me! They have no concept of how many calories are in that people cookie (despite my attempts at educating them) and that it's really not good to give her a couple at a time.
  • We're usually the first people to leave the party so we can get home for the dogs. If your dog is used to a full day alone, he will probably be okay with a few more hours. It's not the best, just make sure he gets extra love when you get home. Can you leave your dog at someone else's house for the night? Could your friend…
  • I've liked almost all of the Halo Top flavours I've tried. I broke into the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavour last night, and it was very yummy. I just wish it wasn't so stupidly expensive in Canada.
  • Having to do my teen years again sounds like torture. Did puberty once, that was enough. But maybe this time around I could actually figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I'd not cry over stupid backstabby friends because I know who my real friends were. Not be too afraid to take a risk and go away to university.…
  • I'm a salty/crunchy snacker, so my go-to is the snack-sized bags of popcorn and a collection of flavour shakers.

  • I use our Sodastream to make bubbly water then add a Mio flavor and a dash of red wine to make my cheap-girl sangria.
  • Usually if someone leaves a poop bag by the trail, they're meaning to pick it up on the way back out. They just don't want to carry it through the whole hike.
  • I'm really enjoying Halo Top and trying the various flavours. Just wish we had more flavours and it wasn't so stupidly expensive here in Canada. Our last US trip, we took a cooler with us to load up at Fred Meyer since they were on a good sale. But the Enlightened Red Velvet kicks Halo Top's Red Velvet butt.
  • I'd definitely do all of my meat shopping at the organic farm up the highway that is so expensive but has such beautiful meats. And I'd buy a lot more seafood, especially scallops.
  • As I'm reading this, there's an ad on the page for 3-bedroom townhomes in Vancouver starting at $1,999,800. You know they'll be the size of a shoebox, too. And we have the highest gas prices in North America. I don't know how young families can even survive here anymore.
  • If everyone sued every time they misread a label or didn't buy what they were expecting... this is beyond ridiculous.
  • I guess I'm already doing something similar on a miniature scale with my Aerogardens. Unfortunately, I only just set up my unit with the heirloom tomatoes, so I don't know how they'll compare to the hothouse varieties from the store.
  • I'm doubly blessed with needing wide-calf, wide-foot boots. But knowing and accepting means crying less over what I can't change. Though it doesn't stop me from getting pissed off over the lack of choice. A rainbow of shoe colours, but I only get to choose black or white.

  • Hamburger Helper was probably one of the first things I learned to cook, since it was easy for a 13/14 year old to make when mom would be late. And Fun Dip! I loved Fun Dip! I would buy those any chance I could, which fortunately wasn't often.
  • Some of these really bring back memories. I grew up in the 70's/80's out in the rural Canadian prairies, my parents trying to make every dollar stretch. The big gardens were a necessity. Mom would buy a beef heart once a month for our Sunday "roast" since it was super inexpensive. And we'd have beef heart sandwiches for a…
  • Emotional and stress eating overcoming self control. And then what does one more bag of chips matter, I'm fat again anyway. I'll get back on track next week. Rinse and repeat.
  • There's no real substitute for me for good old salt & vinegar chips, but when I'm craving salty/crunchy, I'll make snack-sized popcorn bags with seasoning. Or another old standby is White Cheddar rice cakes with added Buffalo popcorn seasoning.
  • I like it with just a little salt and pepper. I also love it mixed with sauerkraut.
  • Carrot cake with raisins and heaps of cream cheese icing... heaven! Even my husband who claims "it's not desert if it's not chocolate" has seen the light and loves it as much or more than me. But keep the nasty walnuts out of it. Nuts in baked goods is... no.
  • No food in the car! I don't want crumbs in the seats or a sticky steering wheel or bits rotting in the mats. Though you wouldn't see it under the dog hair, but that's not the point. :p I keep a meal bar in my purse for those "just in case" moments, but generally nothing is consumed in the car except for coffee on the way…
  • That's the most recent episode of My 600lb Life that I happened to catch. I haven't wanted to watch another episode since. He was such an angry, awful person who clearly had huge issues beyond his weight and painkiller dependency.
  • Poutine with a side of hot wings.
  • My go-to lately has been plain Greek yogurt thinned out with fresh-squeezed lime juice, then seasoned with some garlic powder and/or Greek seasoning.
  • Hummus. It's really, really sad how little is in a 28g serving.
