  • We've been doing this kind of meal delivery service for a few months now, and we really enjoy it. We alternate between a couple (Fresh Prep and Chef's Plate ship local in the Vancouver area) depending on which menu we like better each week. I enjoy trying out new recipes and flavours, and I like that they send me only what…
  • I have a "no eating in the car" rule. I don't want garbage, food debris, or sticky fingers on anything. Especially when my car was brand new. There are also enough bad drivers out there that I can't afford to be distracted. A meal bar is about as much as I'd risk eating while driving. My coffee travel mug goes with me…
  • Old Navy is my store of choice for inexpensive wardrobe fillers when they have a good sale on. For out-of-season items I hit the used stores like Value Village.
  • My husband and I have been trying out the various meal-kit delivery services in our area, and we're having a lot of fun with it. I'm cooking things I've never tried making before with the ingredients delivered to me in just the right quantities. One place will pre-chop everything, another won't. Just depends on which…
  • I use the SodaStream to make carbonated water, then add a shot of something like Mio to it when I'm not feeling like having a Coke Zero or Fresca but want bubbles.
  • Celery. I can't stand the taste or the texture, and it's like a yucky booby trap when I find it in something I'm eating. And I'm over kale. I'll eat it if it's there, and I'll enjoy it if it's nicely done. But I'm not buying it anymore. I also never enjoy avacados as much as I feel I should.
  • Roasting really is a delicious and easy way to make all sorts of vegetables. A little oil, salt, pepper, seasonings, and toss it into the oven. Line the pan with parchment paper for super easy cleanup. You can try making fun things like asparagus "fries" by coating them in a little panko breading and roasting them. I…
  • I have a piri piri spice mix that I use quite a lot for chicken.
  • I love cottage cheese, but I can't stand it sweet, only savoury. Just a little salt and pepper is my usual way of eating it. But I also love it mixed with sauerkraut.
  • Our tap water goes through stricter testing and regulations than bottled water does, so I have no hesitation in drinking it.
  • I recently tried a recipe for cauliflower cheesy bread, and I really enjoyed it for what it was... gooey, cheesy cauliflower dipped in pizza sauce. I'd definitely make it again.
  • Pickled green beans are really easy and delicious. And I really need to make some pickled beets one of these days, they're my favourite. I was making lots of water kefir over the summer, but burned out on it. I'll get it going again when the house is warmer and I'm in the mood again. I grew up on homemade sauerkraut and…
  • Currently I'm eating lots of pears, they're really hitting the spot.
  • David's Tea has Snow Day and Sleigh Ride that are both delicious. One is minty, the other cinnamon spice.
  • My employer offers a flu shot clinic every year, and they even open it up to our spouses and families. My husband and I always take advantage of it. I was really surprised at how few employees signed up, and that I was the only one who brought a spouse (out of 200+ people). I just hope they don't stop offering it due to…
  • If your grocery store has the bulk coffee bins and the in-store grinders, you can get yourself a few small bags of different blends and flavours to try. I would also recommend just slowly cutting down the cream and sugar so your taste can adapt. I slowly got myself down from a load of cream and sugar to just one packet of…
  • There are heaps of slow cooker recipes on sites like Pinterest.
  • Pickled beets are one of my most favourite things in the world.

  • You can prep and freeze crockpot meals ahead of time on a day you have more time to put a few things together. 24 Dump Dinners You Can Make In A Crock Pot https://www.buzzfeed.com/melissaharrison/crock-pot-dump-dinners?bftw&utm_term=.na35nQJvd&crlt.pid=camp.d4xtbQwu8PCX#.oqAGNgBo7
  • Since it was almost impossible to use the work microwave at lunch time, I just got used to room temperature leftovers. I even found some leftovers are tastier not reheated (but not cold from the fridge).
  • Why pay for overpriced items at a convenience store? I'll be over at McDonald's for $1 drink days, sucking back the biggest Coke Zero they have.
  • This is exactly where I've seen it as well.
  • Personally, I'd go with non-organic. But I don't like paying more for organic when I feel the regular stuff is just fine. If I'm going to buy organic chicken, I'll go to the specialty shop and get a really good free-range one.
  • I started gaining weight in my early 20's when I left home the first time. I grew up out in the country with little money, a big garden, and lots of outdoor activity. When I moved to the city and had my own money, I went overboard on fast food, junk food, and sitting on my butt watching cable TV.
  • It's just two of us, so we have to be a little careful of the quantity/size things come in. But for things like toilet paper and dog food, it's great. Costco's Kirkland brand is usually very good quality, too. I buy and freeze what I can such as hamburger meat, or buy things like their frozen fish loins. We've bought a lot…

  • The only food I eat is what I bring with me in the morning. I keep no extra snacks at my desk, and I pretend the vending machine downstairs doesn't exist. For me, the hours I'm at work are the easiest to control in regards to eating. The days I work from home are the real battle.
  • A new WF just opened up down the street from where I work, so I pop in occasionally for things I can't get anywhere else or I happen to know is cheaper at WF than my local natural market (who I'd rather support). But I do love many of the WF bakery items.
  • My grandfather just passed away in November at the age of 104. All I will say is the man loved his scotch and potato chips, and he was dating a young thing (she was only 80 lol). A bad head wound after he tripped and fell was what accelerated his decline. I'm not comfortable with the idea of living that long, to be honest,…
  • Extra fatigue during PMS is one of my indicators that my iron is too low.
  • Oh my goodness, the Costco bakery cookies. I have to put at least half the container into baggies hidden throughout the deep freeze as soon as it comes into the house, or it'll get devoured by my husband in no time flat. Now and then he forgets there are more cookies to be found, so it's a partial success.
