  • The workouts I do (functional fitness classes at a gym - kettlebells, trx, medicine balls, sand bags, etc) sometimes get me very sore. The best remedy is a 'cardio' workout - either running or a cardio class that focuses on lots of movement and not much resistance. My butt was super sore from the leg workout Saturday. Did…

  • Try doing different groups of muscles and alternating: chest and shoulders one day, back and legs the next. They do need to rest for recovery and growth. My gym does 'push' and 'pull' days which is a nice way to break it up so you're working several different muscles in a given day, but when you swap you will mostly be…
  • Agreed, that makes me feel better. For example today I had a bit of coconut milk in my smoothie (fat), chia seeds (fat), chicken (with skin) at lunch (fat), and am about to eat salmon with veggies (and olive oil) (fat). So I'm heading up to almost 100 grams of fat for the day! That said, I'm well under my TDEE also. I got…
  • I mix coconut milk and/or almond milk with a tablespoon of chia seeds. Let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes after giving it a stir. It turns into a thick sort of cream that tastes like pudding to me. Drizzle some honey or maple syrup if you want it even sweeter :-)
  • Thanks! Yeah I was cranking out the protein for a few weeks there but for whatever reason it's been lower this week (I think because I haven't been eating as much meat in general). Sounds like I should work on keeping that down or at the very least paying attention to it. I stepped on the scale this morning and it was down…
  • That's helpful. I think I do have a tendency to do something for a week and expect to see results (because sometimes I do get that 2lbs drop but then it's up again). I'm trying to be more aware of what I do when I don't eat at home (I have no idea how to log a dinner out... who knows what they put in there?). So my answer…
  • Thanks to both of you! Schmoozy, my regular work day is fairly sedentary (desk job - jealous of your farming!). My commute to and from work involves about a 3/4 mile walk, which I generally do fairly speedily. I'm not good at sitting around (we don't have a tv) so when I'm home I'm moving around, sweeping, cleaning up,…
  • Honestly I'm always a bit jealous of people who have never lost weight and are bound and determined to do so. I think your body is way more forgiving to the small changes you make. Mine is used to fluctuating 10 lbs (over 20 years) so it gets a little testy with me when I try to cut calories or work out more, etc. It…
  • It might be because you're already at a pretty low weight and your body doesn't want to lose any more :-) I was 117 for many years and worked out and ate right and it just got to a point where my body stopped and said, "that's it! Here's where you will reside!". 112 is pretty little for someone of your height so maybe just…

  • Me too, me too! Age: 38 CW: 134 GW: 120-125 At my lowest (when I started working out in college and assorted times when I wasn't working and had a very active lifestyle) I was 118. It used to be I'd just cut calories and work out a bit more and bam, the lbs would melt off. Since hitting 35 that is noooottt the case…
  • Age: 38 Height: 5'2" CW: 134 HW: 135 LW: 118 (college and after when I first started exercising and any time I wasn't working and had tons of time to work out and eat right!) GW: 122 No kids, work out strenuously 5 days/week. I haven't gotten my BF done in a while but plan to. I'm mostly interested in that number going…
  • 38 years old, 5'2" 134. I was shooting for 1200 but did the whole TDEE thing and am now going to shoot for closer to 1600-1800 on the days I work out (fairly vigorous cardio/strength exercise for 60-90 minutes). So far haven't lost any weight which is frustrating so trying to find my sweet spot. I've only ever lost weight…
  • Get some almond milk and/or coconut milk Buy some chia seeds (not cheap but they'll last a while). Poor a cup or so of liquid. Add a tablespoon of chia. Stir. Let it sit about 10-15 minutes and it turns into a jelly like sweet treat. You can use any kind of liquid, those are just my favorites!
  • I do guess though that prior to keeping the food diary I was eating more... not a TON but just more calories. And doing the same exercise... and gaining weight. So I'm still a bit nervous about all this.
  • Thanks to both of you, I'm going to check this out! I never feel hungry or low energy so I presumed I was eating enough calories. But maybe not. In my 20s it was always a matter of eating less which would do the trick (and I would still have energy and feel good for workouts). But maybe that's not the case as I've…
