  • The first thing that popped into my head was 'don't get pregnant!' I know, that is such a troll answer but..... Lots of great input on this thread, so I have nothing more to add. Good luck!
  • Yes! No! Maybe! More information required for a good answer. For most situations I can think of, the answer would be yes, but the definition of slowly can vary greatly.
  • Some great input on the replies here. 1700-1800 cals is pretty low for maintenance (unless you are really short). If you're keeping in that range for a majority of the time, some excursions to 3-4K a few times a month will not make a noticeable difference. Just try to keep is as a special treat and not make it a habit.
  • From your rant and your profile, I get the impression that you are making this a little harder than it needs to be. Can’t see your diary, and know nothing about your stats, but for most, sub 2000 cals is no good with lots of running. Also, what about the quality of your food? I have lots of friends that manage calories…
  • Meal replacements are quick fix tools that don't usually result in long term success. Changing habits (learning to ID and control portions, exercise, and eat the right foods) are where the focus should be. That will bring about sustainable change. Meal replacements are successful boost for some. I hope it works out for you…
  • Tried many brands. ON's Gold Standard Natural Chocolate is by far the best I've used. Like it mixed with almond milk.
  • "... but now since im dieting i find it hard to a lil over 1300 calories" The biggest problem is this 'diet' is not sustainable. Your body is likely starting to feel starved and your metabolism is likely slowing. Your young, so the impacts will take longer, but eventually your cravings will get stronger and more frequent.…
  • "I don't have time to eat at work and I get home too late for dinner, so I've just been floating along not sure what should be my next step." Breakfast: Learn to love plain greek yogurt and fruit (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, ect) for breakfast. You can prep before bed and have it ready to eat in the morning.…
  • I'm with Valley. Skip the diet fads. This is a life long endeavor. You have to create long term, healthy habits to truly win this challenge. Full of tips if you want, some of them may even be useful ;) Send a FR if interested. Good luck!

  • My opinion, they’re a waste of money. What can you really use it for? If you’re sitting on your @ss, you already know it. People I know that use them, use them as an excuse to eat more. Nope. NEAT calories are good for offsetting your low food calorie estimates. Don’t waste your money.
  • Used a PFT4 for a while, happy with it. Didn't see a need for the features in the higher priced models.
  • I suggest keeping it simple. Office job = sedentary. Use the MFP recommendation based on your info. See how you are doing after a few weeks and adjust if necessary. No math required and you get built in margin for your underestimated food and/or overestimated calorie burn. Most people do one or both of these. We're both…
  • I use gold standard natural whey, chocolate flavor btw.
  • Sure it's not lactose intolerance? May want to try lactaid with your shake.
  • People love Nutella because it's like eating icing out of the jar with the illusion that there is something good in there. Hershey's chocolate icing taste better to me and a little healthier (as comparing junk food goes). mmmmmm.......icing.
  • I recommend the polar ft4 or ft7. The higher price ones have fitness test and other features people don't tend to use. Got my ft7 on ebay for $40 with shipping. When I researched what to buy, polar seemed to be the most recommended.
  • Bump 4 the getting home from work crowd. Happy Monday!
  • I love to eat trail mix when I need fast, good calories on the go. Not the m&m stuff though. Do you have a farmer's market near you? I like to buy nuts and dried fruit (no sugar added) and create my own mix. My favorite mix (in quantity order) = raw almonds, dry roasted almonds, raw pecans, cranberries, raw walnuts,…
  • Insanity is a very intense workout program (set of DVDs). It requires real commitment to get thru, and from what I've seen, supporters to push you. I got the set from a friend who gave up, but I haven't tried it for real yet. Good luck to you all starting up! Maybe you can convince a neighbor or good friend to do it with…
  • I have the FT7, but the FT4 would have been fine. Picked mine up on Ebay for $40. The higher end HRMs have features most folks won't use.
