I did both. I did 30DS everyday and I ran every other day. Personally, I didn't feel like 30DS was so tiring/intense that I wasn't able to run the same day.

Thanks for the encouraging words! I do agree that the scale is just a number! I have to keep telling myself that. As long as I feel good about myself and can see a difference I shouldnt care what that number is.

I understand that there is an afterburn when lifting weights, but can it really be compared to the amount of calories burned during cardio? Will someone who does 5 hours of cardio a week burning 800 calories each time have around the same TDEE as someone who only lifts weights 5 hrs a week?

Thanks! And that is very inspiring! I have been so frustrated lately because I have been working hard, eating well, and still see hardly any results. I have started lifting heavier, so I'm hoping that will finally give me the change I've always wanted

Update! Its been almost 2 months and I completed 30 day shred, and have continued to do cardio and pilates. I haven't exactly been happy with my progress as I have stayed pretty much the same weight. But i took pictures the other day, and i actually notice somewhat a difference! I may be the same weight, but my stomach has…

I know I am doing it for myself, which is why I usually continue to do it despite people's comments. I just wish people wouldn't laugh or assume I'm trying to be better than them by eating healthy.

I was at IHOP the other day and requested sugar free syrup. My friends would not leave me alone for that! Another day at school while working on a project someone brought Burger King for everyone. I opted out and instead took out the yogurt I had brought with me. Everyone started commenting about how they can't believe I'm…

Loved this post, thanks! Also I tend to put sedentary as my activity level since I'm not always sure how consistent I will be with my exercise. When I do exercise I will usually eat back most of those calories

May I ask where you got that number from? So far no calculator I've used has given me that high a number. And I have started weight training the past month. My body is starting to look better, however I still have a very stubborn layer of fat that will not go away. I feel like the only way to get rid of it is through a…

21 yo, and 88-89 lb. I'm aware my weight is low but I am very short and have quite a bit of fat (I'm pretty much the definition of skinny fat). Hence the 2-3 lb. I'm lifting weights as well so I (hopefully) don't lose muscle mass.

I'm wondering if I should raise my calories more since I work out? Is it possible that that could SPEED up weight loss? The calories I stated were gross calories eaten in a day. However I'm worried that raising my calories even more will cause me to start gaining fat back

The problem is I have been maintaining at this level WHILE exercising. I do HIIT cardio about 2-3 times a week and resistance training about 4 times a week. It's possible I have gained some muscle weight which would account to my weight staying the same..however I don't feel like I have gained that much muscle in a month.…

I agree. I am around 4'9.5 and eating at 1200 calories would have me losing about 0.2 pounds a week, which is ridiculously slow.

No my HRM does not have any of my personal stats, it just gives me an avg heart rate that I put into a calculator, which uses my age and weight. But I was thinking the fact that it takes more effort could be why the treadmill calories are lower than what I calculated with my heart rate

I have a very old model, it's a Polar a1. It's been lying around our house for awhile, I just recently found it.

My hrm does have a chest strap. But does not calculate calories for me, which is why I use a calculator online. And my treadmill only takes my weight into account. I only weigh around 90(I'm very short). I knew treadmill calories tend to be off but I thought they are usually higher than reality, not a lot lower! I don't…

I covered 2.12 miles. The calories I calculated from my HRM just seem crazy high since my entire life ive been used to seeing the number on the treadmill stay in the 100s.

Thanks for the replies! And for the kind words :) It really is more pronounced in real life, I literally have a crease under my belly button from the bulge. even my boyfriend has commented on it asking me why I dont have a normal stomach. :frown: A couple questions... I have read before that heavy lifting could help, but…
