  • I see the previous poster recommended girls gone strong. they very recently put out a product called the modern woman's guide to strength training. it's an ebook that comes with A LOT of video tutorial and also still shots. you can buy a print copy, if you prefer. there are 4 levels. I am doing level one currently (each…
  • I have these wrist guards and they are great. http://www.amazon.com/KettleGuard-Kettlebell-Wrist-Guard/dp/B0043KSTJM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393847743&sr=8-2&keywords=kettlebell+wrist+guards I have the sarah lurie iron core set. Started with that and it was a great way to start. But it got boring after a while. I like the…
  • there is a lot of information online about picky eating. here are a couple of links to get you started. http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/feeding-eating/feeding-infants-toddlers/feeding-picky-eater-17-tips http://www.raisehealthyeaters.com/2013/09/what-i-do-when-feeding-isnt-going-so-hot/ the main points I have found to be…
  • her two new ones... walk to the hits radio remixes and walk to hits party songs are my favorites. I also like the one called 5 really big miles. I have at least 20 of her videos and those are the best. I also sent you a message.
  • did you see this thread? http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1196778-trying-to-lose-weight-should-i-stop-lifting maybe it will give you a different perspective. sounds like you are doing too much cardio and too little strength... not the reverse. just a thought/suggestion.
  • you have to start somewhere and I have tried a few of the 10 min solution DVDs and enjoy them. so, go for it. Jessica Smith also has some free 10 minute workouts on her youtube channel. here is an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFP8qcx6GBg&list=PLe5P3ayTEj7aejY9MC8-0S6oTqx5j0aGK&feature=c4-overview-vl speaking of…
  • try jessica smith. she has a lot of walking workouts. (and higher impact ones too if you are up to it.) later, if you get a set of dumbells, you can try some of her strength workouts. all are free and GREAT! http://www.jessicasmithtv.com/
  • I know this isn't the answer you are looking for. but her free workouts are all so different that there is simply no way to give any kind of estimate. some of her workouts are 10 min, some are 45 min, some are 30 min. and then, some are beginner level walking, some are HIIT, some are just strength training. Her workouts…
  • same here... started at 18 pound but also now have a 26 pound for swings. be sure to get instruction on form from a personal trainer who knows what they are doing. or from knowledgeable trainers like sarah lurie or lauren brooks (DVDs). stay away from the Jillian video called shred it with weights (in which she…
  • what is the benefit, really, of building muscle endurance? just wondering. it seems that is what I am doing with all the DVD's and toutube videos that I do at home. I usually use 8-10 pounds but never higher and I don't notice any change in my muscles lately. of course I noticed change 6 months ago, when I started... the…
  • I have this video and have done parts of it. I only got it recently. my problem with it is... isn't the point of tabata that you can cut down on the time of your workout? that you can get a complete workout done in a short period of time? these breathless body videos go ON and ON and ON. I do realize that you can choose…
  • here is a free you tube video from Jessica Smith that fits your criteria. it's 12 minutes. http://jessicasmithtv.us2.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=84349224ef7a543ab038356d3&id=c74544551e&e=81e928b755
  • I am doing her power circuits video currently. I have been doing it every other day for the past week or 2, alternating with jillian's banish fat boost metabolism. prior to that, I completed the 30 Day shred. I love it! never heard of the 30 day extreme workout. as an aside, I have her book "this is why you are fat." it's…
  • yes, I have to agree... pkbryant's results are exceptional!! way to go! I have moved on to doing a Jackie Warner strength training video alternating with Jillian's banish fat boost metabolism.
  • I have done BFBM twice since finishing the 30 day shred recently. I am in decent shape and was able to do the shred without modifications, but it was challenging for sure. I feel that BFBM is more difficult because of the length. You are just going going going nonstop for that long chunk of time and you need endurance. I…
  • you might want to read ahead to day 30 in the Beck book!! page 214 in the pink book. it will help. make a PLAN ahead of time. if you don't go in with a plan, you are sunk! and if you go off track a little on one day, remember it is not an excuse to continue to stay off track. Day 20 (page 166) is another great day to look…
  • An awesome book/program that deals with this topic is called the Beck Diet Solution. It isn't a separate diet. It is meant to be used in combination with whatever plan you are on to ensure success on that plan. There is a group on mfp. It isn't currently very active (though it would be great if we could get a few new…
  • just added myself to the Beck group and posted an introduction... anyone else joining??
  • Just wanted to chime in that I have made it through the Beck book and loved it. I first read it a few years ago and fell off the wagon after a few kids came along. recently (a couple months ago) I re-did the whole book and I continue to use what I have learned as I am approaching maintenance. I do love that she has lots of…
  • pkbryant, I also had trouble with my lower back after 5 days of level 3... there was no "ouch" moment, as you described earlier in the thread. there was just a general ache that started after I finished the workout. and it was bad the next day so I skipped a day. the next day (which would be today) it was getting better,…
  • you aren't alone shannon...I'm with you! I think level 3 is the toughest. the only thing I can think of is: those who are saying how breezy level 3 is are doing the modifications. I am slowly getting better at the plyo lunges (on level 3 day 5 now). and getting better on the rockstars, too.
  • I am on my last 5 days of 30DS and was planning to start Jackie after. I have never seen her show or done her videos before. I ordered (and have received) power circuit training and one on one. not sure which I will do first or how I will mix it up with the cardio yet.
  • I hope someone knows how to "add" all these people to a group! lots of us. I am new at this and have never posted on the boards. I am 42 and started a few months ago. Goal was to drop about 10 pounds and, most importantly, firm up... gain muscle and lose flab. I have lost about 3 or 4 pounds so far.
