  • Terri, thanks for that post. Rcat, Sorry about your weekend, and mine, and everyone else who lost it a little, but Terri is right. We're here to support each other in the whole process, not just the "Yay I did it" moments. This group has always been great in that way, people have felt safe enough to report not only wins,…
  • I don't know what's wrong with me sometimes. I start doing something that works and then I get bored and stop doing it. So I dropped out and stopped logging food, stopped checking in. I did okay with work outs but I think I added a little extra food here and there. So I'm up two pounds. I'm attempting to re-commit today…
  • Hey everyone, I dropped out it would seem, and now I'm about two pounds up. It's so weird that even though I know if I just keep my food and exercise diaries current - regardless if I'm over or under - and check in on this thread, then I tend to lose weight. Part of it is I start to play a little loose with portions and…
  • Hey Smiles, Nadine and Larry and Pattio too if you're still around, :flowerforyou: - Nadine :drinker: for the 15 lbs Larry and if they had a "I'm glad you went to the beach and am a little jealous" sticky - that's for Smiles It's summer!! I didn't get much in the way of exercise last week, but this week looks way more…
  • I'm on the run so couldn't read everything - but I saw Kidney Stones - exactly the appropriate reaction - but at least they will pass(oh sorry - that was so uncalled for) Phyljen - hang in!! I'm 127. Happy, happy. I can't remember - I think I may have started at 129 or 129.5 this month - but that's good enough for me. Have…
  • Hey y'all! I've had to bail out of yoga twice this week because of school district appointments, but I'm throwing a few run/walk DVD's into the machine. Smiles, my older son has autism which is a cakewalk next to my younger one who has autism, brain impairment, anxiety disorder and reactive attachment disorder. He's quite…
  • So much is going on! Terri, I hope you feel better soon and Happy Anniversary! Everyone's posts are so inspiring and such a microcosm of the whole process - injury, grief, frustration, joy, pride, success- all of it. And it's true, it's about the process. I have nothing important to say, but wanted to check in.
  • Ha, ha! Loved the "hot date" comment! I just came back from a hot date myself - took my younger son to some Gd-awful movie - he went in by himself so I walked laps around Universal City Walk for 2 hours - better than being subjected to greasy popcorn and inane dialogue!
  • What great inspiration. Thanks for the article Smiles, thanks for putting it into a context Larry and thanks for putting it into life Nadine. I have realized that the best thing for me is to focus on moving every day. It's how I got started on MFP and it's kept me going. I jogged a ten minute mile today and did 10 minutes…
  • I completely forgot to congratulate Pixiglen, Ainsley and barty and maybe some others - Go team!! Bethinagain - I'm glad the surgery went well - take care of yourself. Endometriosis is a tough thing to hear. A dear friend suffered with it, was told the same thing as you and ended up with two beautiful children. She did a…
  • Wow Jen!! that's great - you've done fabulously this month.
  • I would like to be the first to officially congratulate myself - .5 down = 128.5 I am totally happy!!! RJ - congrats - see, what the heck was the NY Times article talking about?? Obviously exercise = weight loss. I'm so confused. I think they were suggesting that when women exercise they tend to not only eat back the…
  • Terri, I somehow didn't register your new pic - WOW!! Phyljen, you have the best attitude. It's really inspiring because we will all be side-lined at different times in our lives and if we learn to just accept our limitations and move forward gracefully, we'll be okay. After reading and thinking about your predicament I…
  • Oops. I'm the dilettante of the group. I went to Utah on Thursday to pick up my errant younger son and life has bit a little nutty since. But I'm here, damn it! Except with a rather large glass of wine in my hand instead of a dumbbell - not quite the same weight, but oh well! So. Where were we. i was being asked about…
  • Phyljen, $#%$&&%^%^^!!!!!! and also %%$$##&(*&*)&*^*$%!!!!! Well I agree with everyone else - it's more than annoying - no choice but to slow down,do breath work for a strong back and strong abs to support your knee through your recovery. Another part of life. Well, I seem to be creating my own little group all by myself…
  • So for the first time in months I actually bought and ate a chocolate bar! My husband stared at me the whole time incredulously as if I was doing something sacreligious - how annoying!!! He asked, ' so, are you going to report it - or whatever you do on that site" Anyway, so yes, I picked up my son from residential…
  • Hello everyone. I worked out for three hours today - yoga and hiking - but the calorie burn according to MFP is way lower than it felt. So I think I have to break down and get an HRM. Off to Utah, so I probably won't check in tomorrow. Phyllis - I can't believe there's a Fuddruckers in Egypt - that's surreal!
  • Nadine - I have those days too! Look at how much you did, though. As far as weighing yourself - I don't know what time of day it was, but there's no way you could gain 2 real pounds like that. Larry - once again, great work! Smiles, I have a veggie garden but most of the hard core work is ripping out papyrus which took…
  • Hey y'all! I did a 90 minute yoga class and then one hour of some serious digging in the garden - so I feel good. Tomorrow I really want to restart the couch25k, but if it's pouring like it was for most of today I might weanie out. Good going Larry, and Nadine - that's a ton of work - well done and it does sound beautiful.…
  • Somebody - and I wish I could name them and give them credit - started a thread back in January about entering a typical day's eating - before you started MFP - into the food diary just to get a sense of what you were consuming. Most of us who did it were flabbergasted. Mine was over 4000!!! It was a real eye opener.
  • Stripes, I started just about where you are (145) at the beginning of January, and am now at 129 with out any suffering. My ticker stops at 122 pounds and then I guess I'll decide if I want to lose any more. Someone once told me that once you hit 50 you have to choose between your face and your butt. I'd probably go…
  • Happy Monday everyone. I'm off to yoga, but I realize it's only 222 cal burned. So in order to get even close to the 3500 (divided by 7 is 500, but more reasonably by 6 so that's closer to 600 a day) I'm going to have to do way more than a few down dogs. I don't have an eliptical or treadmill, and it's raining(!) I'm…
  • I am so with the other posters. STOP!!! BREATHE!!! You have not ruined anything - you actually know what the calorie count is - people who blow it throw in the towel, stop counting and stop caring. You haven't. you're just facing your demons, which you can do now or later (now is way easier!) People who've truly blown it…
  • You have done amazingly!! You had to be incredibly committed to achieve this, so congratulations. I wanted to tell you how fantastic you look, but also bump this thread so when I lose motivation I can re-read it. MFP does change lives - you are proof.
  • No. !!! you're addressing the main issue which is unconscious or emotional eating. You'll lose weight perhaps more slowly, but more safely and more permanently. It sounds sane.
  • That is so inspiring, thank you for posting it!!
  • Nadine, I went rock climbing and rapelling once in my life and it was awesome, I felt so high afterwards. It was also the scariest thing I've ever done. Good work! I was hauling and digging like a fool yesterday, but today I was on a native plant garden tour so I burned a mere 97 calories walking around. It was inspiring…
  • Today I managed to log in.....drum roll here, please ....97 calories in exercise!!!! Woo-hoo!!! Alright, never mind today. I'm proud of this group, and if Kim is up to the challenge with her foot and Phyljen is elipticalling with an injury, what kind of lazy bum am I. Well, a very lazy one actually. So tomorrow I'll jump…
  • Kim, what can we do to support you. It's a major drag to have to deal with this, but we really do have to learn to include everything. I know you can do this. How about just putting weight loss on hold and focus on maintaining. Take the pressure off. I think in one of those Ab diet programs they say to go for a walk after…
  • Sonja, your points are well taken. You have a thoughtful consideration of the people involved. I'm sure it doesn't help that JO is not only a Brit, but has a camera crew with him. Nothing worse than a Hollywood Brit! Jbuffan, as far as government regulation, I agree the rules are imbecilic, and the government is definitely…
