It is scientifically proven that some people are 'Super tasters' when it comes to bitter taste (and other tastes too actually). This makes it very difficult for them to eat a lot of green veggies. I'm definitely not luckily and don't taste the spinach in smoothies at all. I imagine though that super tasters would have…

that is awesome. Well done
-
i forgot to say also, the green tops of strawberries also work well int smoothies. too.

I have only recently discovered green smoothies and now i'm a huge fan. I have even got my boyfriend onto them and we have them for breakfast every morning! This morning my smoothie consisted of: mango, banana, kiwi fruit, a handful of spinach rocket and kale mix, bean shoots, chia seeds, protein powder and almond milk. It…

I have made the cauliflower pizza recipe before. Only thing though is it is terribly unhealthy it turns out! Even if you use low fat cheese ( i assume you are following the recipe that uses just cheese and riced cauliflower?) it has quite a lot of calories in it and a lot of fat. Basically i think it was created by someone…

wow that sounds like a horrible drug. Is there a way you can avoid it?
-
yes it happens to me all the time. I think it has a lot to do with water retention. I don't worry about it too much, but i guess if it worries you could try and have less salt for 2 days or so before your weigh-in and make sure you're drinking heaps of water. Also whether or not you've done all your (ah hmmm... business)…

haha! You're right country Australian towns are way daggier than elsewhere. In Roxby everyone where tracksuit pants all the time in winter/autum. And not nice ones but horrible faded, stained ones. Must admit though when i moved here i had a terrible urge to wear tracksuit pants so bought myself a pair! Mine are nicer…

oh and i should specify - a heart rate monitor that has a chest strap. You may have one that comes with the treadmill but i find they are not as accurate as the chest strap ones.
-
nope, a heart rate monitor would be the best thing. Pedometers just measure the number of steps, they don't make particularly personal measurements to calculate what your body did. People have pedometers to make a basic calculation of the number steps they make during the day including work and all that. So they are a fun…

there are too many posts on here now to read them all so sorry if someone already says this. Studies show that if you diet from a young age you are more likely to be obese when you're older. It screws around with your metabolism, and i doubt a 12 year old would be able to negotiate the good advice from the crap on this…
-
ah yes, you're right. I wasn't counting what it was mixed with. I mix mine with different things on different days too so i rather use just the powder value and then add whatever. well i hope it got you through your work shift!
-
Yes you're right it does't mix well - so i use a blender. This is the one i'm going to try once i've run out of Nature's Way: Professional Whey http://professionalwhey.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=61 It's the cheapest Whey isolate i can find thus far on the internet in Australia (1 kg is $34.50).…

Ah sorry, just saw it didn't have that much sugar. Wonder where all the calories are coming from then? Maybe it just has more protein that my powder...? What brand is it? i'm curious now.
-
That sounds like quite a lot of calories for two scoops of protein powder? I'm guess it must be flavoured and have a fair amount of sugar in it then? I've just started using protein powder. I'm using Nature's Way natural instant protein powder which was the cheapest one that i found at woolworths and is made of soy protein…

Look i'm not completely up to date with what is officially considered a 'Clean diet'. I eat very few processed foods and make almost everything from scratch. I actually have a food blog exploring some of this: http://angelacooking.blogspot.com/ I don't necessarily buy everything organic because i can't afford to on my…

My small country town Woolworths has various protein bars in their diet supplements section. So i'm sure if you have a supermarket near you they'll have something. Otherwise i don't see why you can't make your own using whatever recipe. If it is in American measurements just convert them.
-
I was pretty much brought up this way so i find it strange that people consider it a particular diet. I guess it is if you're idea of eating less calories is to have artificial sugar in everything. So if you're interested add me then you can see my diary (which is closed otherwise).

wow i wish i had your legs!

I just looked up beer smith. it cost. So i'm not doing that. but i found this if anyone is interested: http://www.mrgoodbeer.com/carb-cal.shtml looks like it will do the maths for me with my hydrometer. Also does the alcohol content maths too which i always used to do by hand. So that's pretty neat.
-
yes i have one one them (a hydrometer). I assumed there would be some way of calculating it using that. I don't know what the actual maths would be though.

I have a Suunto M4. I really like that it comes with an inbuilt personal trainer. I wear the watch part of it most of the time as my regular watch and in the morning it tells me if it is training day etc. i got mine free with frequent flyer points. all i can say is Ebay! Perhaps someone has given up their diet and is…

If you can only bring a small cooler bag you are going to need very filling nutrient dense foods that taste good. You'll probably need to mix it up from time to time too or you'll get bored. Each week i buy a few chicken skewers from the grocery store. They are only 80 calls a serve. i cook them up at home, wrap them in…

I've heard this sort of thing works. I'm not sure though if it is medically proven or is just another diet myth. I hope it does because i naturally do this. I aim to had my calories add up at the end of the week. Sometimes i have a bad day somewhere on the weekend and try and make up for it during the week.
-
yes it is programmed with my height and weight. I think i'll still try and program it to have my resting heart rate sometime in the future (which is supposed to make it even more accurate). Problem is finding a time when i haven't just drank coffee or been walking around etc. I guess i'll trust i though. Thanks for all…

I didn't see the college dorm thing. perhaps you could put a sign up and find some other people in your dorm who are interested in joining you in some fitness training sessions. If you had some extra money you could get a personal trainer to do a group bootcamp session once a week or something. Or otherwise you could just…

i think you need to let everyone you are close to in your life know that you are taking getting healthy seriously. In particular you need to have a chat with your boyfriend. He needs to take it seriously too so that he doesn't do things like tempt you with candy. Then hopefully they will be better support for you.…

I used to be ilke that. but now i pretty much tell everyone. And now i feel much more accountable which helps me. Nobody judges me (in fact i know quite a few people who recently lost a lot of weight using weight watchers), and also it is then easier in social situations to organise to have healthier meals if meeting up…
