I've always avoided weight watchers, lighter-life etc as primarily their goal is to make money not to help you lose weight. They stop earning money when you have lost the weight you require so i have always been a little dubious regarding their methods which appear to change every 6-12 months or so

Certainly what is true is that when we first begin to diet those extra few pounds we lose at the beginning is mostly water, so its important to keep your hydration levels up. It doesn't have to be solely water that you take in but be aware that tea/coffee and fizzy drinks can dehydrate us more

Train regularly building up time spent running and alternate with building up speed. Tread mills are good for this. when you hit about 11.5km/h you can do 10km in under 50mins which is a good time, then you need to adapt your training to the type of terrain you will be running on in your event. Road or track is far easier…

Loose skin comes from losing a lot of weight in a short space of time, which is also not good for you. keep your weight loss steady and in little bits 3-4lbs a week and continue doing the toning that you are and you should be fine

you'll probably find that you'll lose a couple lbs while you are sick too. Try to drink as much water as you can, not only is it good to keep yourself hydrated but it also bloats out your tummy so you are less likely to pick at leftovers. Oh and welcome to the site :D

Hi Julie, Nice to see someone else here from the UK. I'm originally from North Devon myself but living in Hampshire now. Wish you all the best with you targets and goals Geoff

Welcome, You like many others here (including me) appear to have a long-distance run as a goal a little-way down the line. There are loads of good threads here with advice on training etc. Hope all goes according to plan for you

i think the exercise "games" for the X-box 360 Kinect is more like exercise than what is on offer with the wii
