I know, we can really be irrational when it comes to this stuff, right? I understand and I am sure many others do, too. Look. The only way you won't succeed is if you give up. So you had an off day, or two, or three. OK. Starting now, you're back on. There. That was easy! You can do this. Take it one day, one meal, even…

Thanks for this thread. I am having a really hard time dealing today. I am a daily weigher because I like the data (i.e. TrendWeight, which I will definitely sign up for when I get an Aria!), but I admit, sometimes it is really frustrating! :( I am usually really good about not taking the numbers to heart, but some days...…

I don't mind going out at dark – my partner worries about it more than I do! I live in a pretty safe, fairly well-lit neighborhood, though. I (probably foolishly) don't wear any special stuff, lights or reflective equipment, but the streets are not very busy and I try to be very aware of what's around. I'd probably…

I am also very active here (and I see some of my friends here have responded!) and always looking for more pals who are likewise. :)

You totally sound like my kind of people. :)

Yep, I've got over 200 pounds to lose, with almost 60 down so far. Welcome any new friends! :)

This is such a great post, OP, with so many great responses, everyone. I agree with so much that has been said here. I have yo-yoed almost my whole life – from age 9 when I was put on my first diet. I am determined to stop the cycle now at age 44. In the past few years I have lost about 50 pounds three times, and each time…

Hi Jackie, thank you for sharing your story – I will definitely have a look at your blog! I wish I could have sorted out all this stuff in my 20s, I tell you what. Now at 44 I am pretty sure I am well on the way to this being "it" finally. I blog over at http://amytenpercent.blogspot.com if you want to read about me, too.…

I had a wonderful NSV today. I cooked the whole Thanksgiving dinner without breaking a sweat. Usually in these big undertakings I'm sweating like crazy by the time dinner's ready. I was pretty shocked when I realized it – and I worked hard all day, too! What an awesome feeling.

I love tea, but man, the water – I'd echo what others have already said. I established a habit. I set a goal and aimed to reach it each day, and now it is a habit. It helps that I have a desk job so I just keep a glass of water at my desk all day, every day, and I try to refill it 3 times while at work. In addition, I have…

Hi there OP, I also have a lot to lose and started at 372. I am nut for data so I've been keeping track of all sorts, including monthly loss. Here's what I've got so far. May: lost 6 pounds (started mid-way), 366 June: lost 13 pounds, 353 July: lost 8 pounds, 345 August: lost 6 pounds, 339 September: lost 13 pounds, 326…

I want to lose at least 200 pounds. I started at 372 and I'm down almost 60 now. I already feel a LOT better and stronger, and that really motivates me. I know it's a long haul, but something I really need to get done once and for all. Anyone feel free to add me – but be warned I really loathe talk about "cheat days" or…

You already got so many great responses, but I wanted to chime in. This is not the first time I've starting a running training program as a VFP (Very Fat Person), and I tell you what, I love it – it's going to stick this time. I've been walking for a few months now and quickly gained more fitness, enough that I wanted to…

Bravo! Looking (and I bet feeling) great! :)

I've become kind of a data freak, so weighing every day has become almost fun. I can see patterns evolve and get a better idea about how my body works overall. I have also trained myself to separate the scale reading from any value judgement... it's just a number. :) Anyway, I find it very helpful to stay on track. But I…

Great accomplishments!!

I'm planning to eat pretty much whatever, though I do think I will naturally eat a little less than what I have in the past at this meal just because my appetite is not as big! I do all the cooking but I prefer to stick to the usual recipes rather than try to make things "healthier" – I want to enjoy the real deal. I do…

I am 44 and have done C25K a couple times in the past few years, and plan to do it again starting in spring with the hopes of doing a marathon one day! I have an awesome co-worker who told me that she has done 5 marathons since she started running after 50! Super inspiring.

I am of the belief that you can make just about any dining out experience fit into your day. It might take a little research and/or some common sense. :) I'm with Jasonmh630 on this. :)
-
Wow, that is so great. Congrats and keep it up – I hope that you won't need the surgery! :)
-
I just did one of these today! I'm just a quarter of the way through, but I'm seeing a difference. From ~372 to 318.
-
SO AWESOME. You look really happy.

My plan is to log as much as I can just so I have the data, but not worry about intake so much. I have a feeling I'll be eating a little less than I have in the past anyway, just because I have been getting fuller faster, but who knows? Either way I am cooking our favorites and enjoying it to the fullest. As a gift to…

I can't seem to break 1 minute. Depends on the day, though – sometimes 30 seconds is all I can do. :) It helps me to watch the time.

Hi there! Congrats on your achievements so far. I started with 200-225 pounds to lose and am about a quarter of the way there. It IS a long road and it can be daunting, I agree. I think most of all you have to focus on positive changes and the process rather than feeling like you have to race the weight off. :) Hopefully…

I have 200+ pounds to lose, and have lost just over 50 of that so far. It does get overwhelming, doesn't it? But I'd like to echo what has already been said here. I want this to be the LAST time I have to do this after a lifetime of yo-yoing, which got me to 372 in the first place. I have a blog if you'd like to read…

Um, yes. I am morbidly obese and I'm out there walking – have started running very short sections and will start C25K in the spring (again). There is no shame in being fat and being out there doing what you want to do. I am proud! :)
-
I did C25K starting at around the same weight. I never ran every day. It probably isn't the best idea to run every day at such a high weight, but if you're feeling good, tread with caution. You don't want to hurt yourself!
-
I totally understand. I have been there many times myself, but now determined that this will be the last time. I need to lose 200 pounds total, yikes! But I'm a quarter of the way there and feeling great. I love getting and giving encouragement and will add you! :)

Hi! I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time. I tell you what, sometimes you have to start slow and make incremental changes. For instance, I had an easier time starting to get more activity before I felt like I could think about the food part. I did join a gym, but you don't have to – plenty you can do with your own…
