I live in Phoenix and go to Sprouts for specialty items like bulk grains (Quinoa, flax seed, chia seeds, etc). Regular supermarkets are fine if you make the right choices. Remember, a calorie is a calorie and you need to maintain a deficit. But if you replace simple carbs with complex carbs and fatty meats with leaner…

I've been experimenting with muffins using whole wheat flour and rolled oats. These look really good.

I'm making a big stir fry with lots of veggies, chicken and brown rice.

Yes, I back straight people. They did not choose their orientation so they should be treated like anyone else (as long as they don't force their agenda down my throat).

Hi there, I'm from Phoenix, AZ and an all around sci-fi nerd. Doctor Who and Star trek are on the top of my list. My first Doctor was Tom Baker. I sorta lost interest after Peter Davidson but came back full on when the reboot came out with Christopher Eccelston in 2005.

After reading countless threads on the message boards, i have come to realize that my body is just teeming with toxins. Therefore, my only option is to start the 14 day Clorox Cleanse. You can only have 8 glasses of Clorox bleach mixed with Tabasco sauce and kumquat juice for 2 weeks. And it's recommended that you crush up…

I was a chef in my previous career and am pretty good at eyeballing portions but I still use a standard kitchen scale I picked up at a restaurant supply store.

I switched from regular iced tea to iced green tea a few months ago. I brew about a gallon every 3 days or so. I drink it throughout the day with no sweetener. I just love the taste. the health benefits are just "icing on the cake"

I really enjoy Fage fat free plain. I use it instead of sour cream, in tzatziki sauce and in fresh fruit smoothies. I go through about a quart per week.

For the record: Fresh, whole foods are always a better choice. Frozen dinners are full of sodium, sugars, simple carbs and chemical colorings and preservatives.

Do you not have a Subway close by? That's the only "fast food" I will eat.

I'm here too. Love this site.

I eat lots of real, healthy whole foods. As a former chef I know how to work with the natural flavors, tastes and textures of food without mucking it up with a bunch of highly processed crap. Feel free to friend me if you want.

When I first joined they scheduled a "free consultation" for me which turned out to be a high pressure, hard sell sales pitch for a personal trainer. NO means NO. How many times do I have to say NO? The following week I ran into the sales guy in the locker room and he tried to sell me again. The last thing I need at the…

Personally, I weigh in daily, first thing in the morning. I understand how this works so I know how long it should take to reach my goal. The results are there, just not at every weigh in. It's all about patience..

Welcome fellow nerd. I'm pretty new here also. My advise is to check these forums often. Lots of good info here.
