uh-oh, the code has been cracked!! that is really funny :o) I am actually sitting here waiting for the roads to melt so I can get in 20 freaking miles, you know, because I am amazing! lol!

I love the "I survived" or "I turned okay" argument. If someone's parent's abused them and they "turned out okay" it was in spite of the abuse, not because of it. If you hit your kid, you should be put in jail.

spanking is child abuse, pure and simple

that's just awesome!

ultimately, the only truly accurate equipment is a wheel on the ground and a stopwatch...both properly calibrated, of course

treadmills are almost always incorrect..I agree that time would be a better measure. I use a footpod and also a heart rate strap. The footpod isn't the most accurate thing in the world either, but when I look at my effort (heart rate), I can get pretty close to a workout I get outside. I think the most important thing is…

I think if you inserted word "treadmill" into any thread, on any topic, that thread would eventually devolve into a discussion about why people hate treadmills. It's like runner's street cred. lol! Maybe it's because I have done a fair amount of sitting meditation and have a high tolerance to "boredom", but it really don't…

I actually do use 1% incline! I find it more comfortable, believe it or not. :o)

You'll be absolutely amazed at what your body can do, if you give it a chance. Be patient. Be persistent. And most importantly, be kind to yourself. And do worry about folks dissing the treadmill. It's just a tool. Many elite runners utilize treadmills, particularly when the conditions outside are unsafe. I love to run…

I signed up last year, but couldn't make the day...I am considering it again this year. There are actually quite a few options for me where I live.

My personal opinion is to keep the reasons for trying to lose weight and the reasons for getting some exercise separate. I run simply because I enjoy it and love the challenge. I try to lose weight for health reasons and to be a good example to others, especially my family. If your running enjoyment is tied to the scale, I…

If I have speed or tempo work on the schedule, I'll do some active stretching while I am waiting for my morning coffee to "get things moving". I use the ones described here: http://www.active.com/articles/case-for-cross-training-part-3-stretching . For long runs, I just head out and ease into it. I do a pretty thorough…

If it will absorb: "whatcha' runnin' from?", I'll buy two!

I did exactly this. For whatever reason, I really, really just wanted to run without walking. I don't think that's the way everyone has to do it. But it was important to me. So, if you can run the distance, just do it. If you are feeling it, stretch it out a little every week. Endurance before speed. I literally couldn't…

yeah, that 210 set-up isn't great...the wireless is so much better.

I sit my on the window sill for a few minutes, as I getting ready to go. My 310xt picks them (it's more than one satellite) up much faster than my 210,

turning around and coming back is not normal guy behavior...as above, if it is the same guy, that isn't good.

Is this a trick question? lol! 30, every time for me. It would be interesting to ask this question again in July...

At 4 am, right down the center, on the crown (I don't wear headphones, so I can hear cars a good distance away). If it's later, I'll run on the sidewalk, if there is one available.

this^^ endurance before speed

I hear ya' tappae. We are all a sample of one and different things work better for some than others. My feeling is that mindlessly just chasing a number without knowing why we are doing it (which I am sure Chi Running lays out) is putting the cart before the horse. I am sure of this, though: If someone works on improving…

Wonderful report! I am so happy for you!

Ran 3 for her and her family on Saturday. Also ran 13 today and almost got hit by a car..sheesh. Also thought a little about the drunk driver...his life is changed forever by a stupid mistake.

A cup of coffee and, if I am going to running much over an hour, a banana. I do this at least an hour before I go out. The coffee helps "get things moving" if you get my drift. I try not to eat or drink anything (including water!) an hour before I go out. For a race, I make it two.

I never wear headphones outside, but if the weather drives me inside, I love some good music while I am running. And, yes, I occasionally sing out loud and wave my hands! lol!
-
check out: dcrainmaker.com I use a garmin 310xt. I found the cell phone based apps pretty unreliable.

My personal method is to keep them separate. I run because I enjoy it, not to lose weight. Weight loss is strictly a food thing for me. It's good that you see the connection. Sometimes, just being aware of something will spark a change. Good luck!
