Luciicul Week 1 Monday PW: 210.1lbs CW 210.8 lbs A gain :s Got a bit complacent last week, not enough exercise, eating too late in the evening, and we ate out one night which no doubt put me over a bit. A sign to pull my socks up!

I’ve had periods like that, feeling out of control, and it’s usually when I am trying (and failing) to do too much and haven’t taken the time to really clear my head, review my goal, set my intention. What is one thing (just one) that you can focus on this next week? For me when I scale back I usually make it about my…

Hi, June is my fifth month on the challenge, I'm Australian, mum to a 13 yr old. I eat low-carb, moderate protein, moderate healthy fats, avoid processed and refined foods, and I do intermittent fasting. I have insulin resistance and am on Metformin, and a sluggish thyroid (no meds for thyroid, only supplements, so far).…

Why not take some lessons or watch some cooking programs or YouTube videos? Look for info for beginner cooks. Also, lots of things you can eat that don’t really need cooking. Buy a precooked BBQ or roast chicken, chop up salad vegetables, add some feta, shred some of the chicken into the salad, add a little balsamic…

How do ketones help the gut microbiome?

Yep, loving it, having great results. Low carb wholefoods only, 3x42 hour fasts per week, 3 weeks into this fasting protocol.

I think perhaps there is not active moderation on here, no conversation starters or challenges to keep us coming back. I do log daily and check in at least weekly to a different group which is more active.

Oh, just realised this is an old thread!

I use MFP as a tool, but there are aspects of it that I have to ignore because it doesn't fit in with my way of eating etc. Primarily I use it as a weight tracker, and I make use of some of the community spaces to help keep me accountable and on track. Obviously, MFP is not what will make you lose weight but rather choices…

Luciicul Week 4 Monday PW 215.2 lbs CW 210.1 lbs Feeling I am in a good groove with my weightloss and have found a way of living that gives me consistent good results and isn't too hard to stick to. Met (and overshot) my goal for the month (I aimed to get to 214lbs). Met my goal to walk daily & incorporate fasting. Haven't…

I just read a great article. It's not about motivation, but it easily explains things that fit in with most of my way of eating that might give you some new ideas, if you are interested. Obviously different things work for different people, but when I used to have trouble staying on track it often came down to the type of…

Maybe get a cooking book aimed at kids/new cooks - recipes will be simple, techniques will be explained better. It sounds like the recipes you are trying to follow are overly complicated, and assume pre-existing skills.

That's a great goal! It's on my to-do list but I still feel I have a zillion things to do that have prevented me from focusing on it. I've had to wean my goals down to the bare minimum to stay on track. Best of luck

We have had an election here in Australia, so voted today, and the results are disappointing. Sigh. At least my diet is going well.

Thanks! Truth be told, I have a LOT to lose and while this is a 52lb challenge, I'm really aiming to lose closer to 52kgs! Am really glad I've learned some new stuff about nutrition and how our body works, which seems to be working for me so far. Of course, it will be harder when I get closer to my goal weight. Good luck…

This is going to be a long answer! PART ONE For the last few years my daughter has been struggling with major depression, anxiety, and self harm. The constant stress of living with this (which also involves difficult behaviours & no way to change anything) at times has pushed both me and my partner close to breaking point.…

Depending on which version of the 5:2 diet you are following...Dr Michael Mosley who published a book about it has made some modifications to it in his latest book (Fast 800). He said he found that most people doing the 5:2 ended up eating 800 calories on a fast day, and the diet still worked for them, so he now says to…

By your logic, people don’t “fast” during Ramadan - because they do eat in the early morning and evening - they are consuming calories each day - which doesn’t fit your definition of fasting. More logically, there are many different fasting protocols and people do it for different reasons with different guidelines and have…

I will add - if you are tracking with MyFitnessPal it will calculate it for you when you scan of add the item, if you are set to count calories it will show you in calories. Most products sold here are in the mfp database.

I live in Australia & am Australian and quite often nutrition tables will state both kJ and calories, but when they don’t and I am doing a quick mental calculation I divide by 4. For accuracy you just type “4000kj into calories” into google search and it will convert it for you.

I went cold turkey on everything unhealthy for 3 months, was hard at first but got better, after a while you stop thinking about it and it doesn't have the same pull (build up your resistance muscle). Before I started my diet, was the same as you "all or nothing", there were times when at the supermarket I'd buy a block of…

Congratulations on you success so far and your masters! I would just give you a heads up that weightloss is not consistent, in my experience the biggest loss is in the first week you start a new diet, and when on a low carb diet a significant amount is water loss which can go back on if we start eating carbs again. My…

I’m not eating keto, just low carb, so not sure if this will help : I add berries, seeds and nuts to strained yoghurt. Eating flax and chia this way is tasty. These are high fibre foods. (Also eat plenty of non-starchy vegetables).
