Diet coke is absolutely not an adequate substitution for water. There are *a lot* of chemicals in diet coke. In fact, it's really not good for you at all. My suggestion: force yourself to drink water. It will be less painful via a straw. To make it a bit more enjoyable for you, try crystal-lite or drinking a white tea or…

That sounds really good. Can you be a little more specific about it though? How long do you cook the lentils? What amounts of honey, fruit, nuts, cinnamon, etc.? Thank you!

I really like your perspective on this. :)

I can totally understand this. Potential weight gain stopped me from attempting to quit for quite some time. But I decided to just take that risk and instead of smoking a cigarette, I would drink water and hold a cinnamon stick between my fingers. It sounds really silly but it helped me tremendously. I quit cold turkey and…

I hate this! Mine fluctuates as well. It's all water retention from varying levels of sodium and fluid intake, as well as menstral cycle/hormone fluctuation, etc. Such a pain! Like someone else wrote, measurements are a better indicator, overall. Although if you have bloating (especially during or around that time of the…

Water retention. Just keep drinking water and it should flush out by tomorrow. I empathize with you though. I hate when that happens.

We have a "snack drawer" at work which seems to consist of nothing but cookies, chocolates, poptarts, and the occasional graham crackers. I used to open the drawer and snack from it and it ended up being a disaster for the waistline, obviously. I slowly began bringing a small bag of strawberries or blueberries, etc. Now I…

That sounds absolutely insane to me. I practically live off of fruits and vegetables. I couldn't imagine how horrible I would feel to not eat them. That just sounds asinine - and very unsustainable.

Hey! Welcome to MFP! I'm also 24 and juggling grad school and full time work. I know how difficult it can be to make time for academic and professional obligations and finding the time to maintain a routine of working out and eating healthy as well. But it's possible! We can do this. Good luck!

Great job!

You could try putting pesto on to replace the sauce and some roasted vegetables (i.e. artichokes, red onions, bell peppers, etc.). Kashi makes a pizza like that, but I think it would taste even better homemade!

mmm ... crunchy peanut butter. I love it. Peanut butter is awesome with apples and celery and melted peanut butter on toast with cinnamon and sugar is divine. Oh, oops. You wanted to avoid over-eating PB. Sorry.. I can't help you as I love it too. :p

Denise Austin's "Hot Body Yoga" (Pilates For Every Body is another great dvd) Yoga: Foundations - a 4-disc dvd sold at Target

Same here

Great job, man!
-
Good luck! You can do it! =)

I just bought the dvd last night. I am anxious to try it. But I want to complete Denise Austin's boot camp dvd first!

I'm right there with you when it comes to having no time to go to a yoga class. I've noticed all the local classes where I live are during the time that I am either at work or in classes (I'm in grad school). Not to mention, I cannot really spare the cost of a membership or pay on a class-by-class basis. The prices at some…

My advice: increase your water intake, decrease any caffeinated beverages. Our bodies hold on to extra fluids when it doesn't have enough. It has really helped me a lot, honestly.
-
Oh, I'm totally in. This is me to a "T"

Welcome to MFP! Good luck! =)

Wow! I didn't expect so many replies so quickly. You're all awesome! The sprain isn't that bad. I'm able to walk on it, although it's still tender and a bit sore. Carl1738 - I mostly do cardio because I'm trying to increase my cardiovascular endurance since I quit smoking about three months ago. I'm going to do strength…

I prefer the elliptical over the treadmill. It doesn't hurt my knees or feet as badly. According to the machines, I burn more calories on the elliptical than I do on the treadmill. eta: I do have a issue though with my toes going numb after 35 minutes or so on the elliptical though. I have yet to find a relief from that…

I weigh myself almost daily, unless I overslept and am running a little late for work! Personally, I find the fluctuation in weight interesting. I like to see just how much the water content in my body fluctuates.
-
This happened to me when I exercised too soon after eating and also from drinking too much water during cardio
-
Wow, I did not know this at all! Thank you!

Well I'm not a long distance runner (mostly bought for running on the treadmill) or anything like that but I love my Reebok Run Tones. They are the most comfortable exercise shoes I've ever had (Vans are the most comfortable every day shoes, imo). They were surprisingly affordable as well.

Nah, vitamin supplements aren't the same as vitamins and minerals from your food. You definitely need to eat more. Your metabolism can definitely slow down if you're eating too few of calories.
