One thing that's really important to note if you're juicing a lot of veggies and greens is that it's important to rotate your greens. There's a good explanation of it here http://www.thefitnessdish.com/?p=4817 but basically there are 2 reasons: 1 - you get different nutrients from different greens, so using spinach or kale…

I have never been in a 12 step program but have learned a lot about them over the years as a grad student. About the "higher power" While AA (which OA is based off of) originated with a strong religious foundation, it has now become much more rooted in individual spirituality than any specific religious belief system. Even…

I've JUST started juicing and found that I really love the taste of tomato, yellow bell pepper, cucumber, celery, and kale together. The yellow bell pepper and cucumber really tames the acidity of the tomato and give it a fresh light sweetness. This is the only non-fruit-laden (I know, tomato is technically a fruit, so I…

hard to find stores that carry DDD+, but http://www.freshpair.com/ has good selection and lots of sales. Good luck! Edited to add that freshpair has a bra fitting program where you can talk to a consultant and they send you bras to try on. you only buy/pay for ones that you keep and you can return the ones you don't want.

Hmmm... if your trainer doesn't seem to be on board with your goals I'd start interviewing other trainers. Good luck!

Hi there!! fage plain fat free greek yogurt is a great no-fat substitute for sour cream, or addition to smoothies, soups, etc. I don't like it by itself, though, but many people do! Good luck!

I definitely second the recommendations of professional help. Therapy can do wonders, and many areas have programs for free or low-cost mental health services for the uninsured. That said, there are also a number of self-esteem workbooks you can do at home that are probably inexpensive via amazon (but make sure you buy new…

social work grad student - not working but have an internship/field practicum that is fairly intense on top of classes. for time management - I'm STRUGGLING!! my apartment is a mess lol. For those of you that are interested and haven't seen it, there's an amazing lecture on time management by Randy Pausch (author of The…

that's tough, in my (limited) experience, white wines tend to be a bit sweeter. You could try a white wine. I am a dry red wine drinker myself, so that's what I'd go for, but I don't think that would appeal to you. As for champagne, you could always opt for that and if it's too dry for you - mix with OJ for some mimosas. :)

One of my favorites is "veggie confetti" 1 medium zucchini 1 cup frozen corn 1 smallish red onion 1 orange bell pepper I chop the veggies so that they are about the same size as the corn kernels (so they all cook about the same time). Thaw the corn, saute veggies (I use PAM) to desired doneness. I usually like mine just…

contact your local grocery store and find out when they do "manager's specials" on meat/etc. that is reaching its sell-by date. I usually grab a few things that are marked down and freeze them so that they last. Everyone on here has such great ideas - I second the library as a source of workout videos! good luck!

great accomplishment!! definitely agree with the lady who suggested secondhand shops. I am cheap (and a broke college student). Thrift shops have helped me keep clothes that fit (and a few that will fit soon) in my closet. good luck!!

mashed potatoes or cream of chicken soup? not the healthiest options, but 2 of the "savory" foods that helped me thru my wisdom tooth extraction

Thanks everyone!! I like the suggestions of making the same basic meal, but with fattier or more calorie-dense add-ons for him that I can just skip. I'll have to get creative in the kitchen but I like to cook so that helps. I try to make sure we have low-fat salad dressings for me and regular for him, etc. but making…

when I was a kid, my brother and I put firecrackers in the holes.... great way to end up with MORE ant hills (Texas fire ants). I don't recommend. We never really got rid of ours, so I don't know of any solutions but good luck!

skinny cow ice cream sandwiches and cones are AMAZING and usually 150 cals, about 3g fat. I haven't tried the pints of ice cream, but their "ice cream novelties" are the best!
