  • There comes a time when, although you respect your parents opinions, you need to live your life as it feels right for you. Sometimes parents need to be reminded, gently, that their job was to bring you up knowing right from wrong and prepare you to make your own life decisions. Their goal for you is often as the same when…
  • I have just been to my GP, and she suggested I look at the 5:2 Fast diet (lifestyle) from Dr Michael Mosley - where you eat normal for 5 days, then around 500-600 calories on two non-consecutive days. I was able to lose wait using MFP last year (before I was injured), and am a little wary of the 5:2 thing - but she assures…
  • Hi there... I joined earlier this year too, with a big drive to exercise and eat healthy - losing weight a happy by-product ... Midway though the year I got injured, which needed surgery and rehab, limited exercise. I didn't fall off the wagon - I jumped off gladly... Ate and drank to my hearts content - but have…
  • I'm not in the age range, but I am a fellow Aussie... :ohwell: :drinker: Just stumbled across local website yesterday with some interesting looking recipes.. http://www.thehealthychef.com/category/recipes/ I'm not into eating paleo etc - but some of this does look good - and its local !
  • I'm a returning lapsed member too... I started at the beginning of this year, and managed to lose 9kg by mid May - when I then injured myself to the point of needing surgery and couldn't exercise. I thought I'd give myself a little 'holiday' and pretty much ate and drank what I wanted too. Well, 6 months and an extra 4 kg…
  • I'm with rshcraig... I got a heart rate monitor, and created my own exercise to track calories burned... I could tell when I wasn't that focussed and putting effort into a days routine - the calories burned was significantly less. It kept me on the straight and narrow.
  • That is just awesome! You are looking so much fitter and toned. Congrats
  • <bump>. to see what responses come in.. Dislocated my shoulder 5 days ago, keen to see how others managed their way through injury. And just when I had worked up to real person's push ups.... :(
  • Thanks  .. Will see how I go with those ideas in a week or so when I have my arm out of the sling.
  • Wow - this is so relevant to me today.... I don't have anything to help you, but I am really keen to hear what others have to say... After losing 8 kgs since New Year, and half way through level 3 of the 30DS and feeling pretty good, I started back at team sport. Today was the first match of a lunchtime netball comp with…
  • Wore a dress yesterday that I haven't worn for 15 months... Slipped it on before I realised that I hadn't undone the zipper, and that I had forgotten to undo the belt !!! Readjusted the belt, and it wrapped half way around me....
  • I started 30Ds on 1 April, but did not do it every day... I did 2-3 days and then had a cardio day - got to the end of levels 1 & 2 by end of April, eating back most of my burned calories. I have only done 2 days at level 3 so far in May and no cardio due to work commitments and a family bereavement - which has meant a…
  • I'm not doing 30 days straight - will probably finish in 45 days.. I am losing cm's - but I also just had a 0.8kg (about 2pd) weight loss in one week (the end of level 2). I am fitting in to clothes that I have never been able to wear before. Just stick with it.. And I preferred level 2 over level 3 (I am a few days in)...
  • In the classes I go to, they give you tips on how to alter what you do to get a higher intensity workout. Sweating whilst in the water feels wrong ! Best class I did was effectively a boxercise session. It was hard going, but felt really good.
  • Never seen that one myself... I tend to get ads for FitBit or other HRMs !!!
  • HI... Please don't take this the wrong way - but I am just wondering how effective your 'power walks' are if you are reading blogs or watching YouTube at the same time? Are they in a gym? Also sounds like some poor habits are creeping in, and you may need to start imposing rules for yourself... eg - the primary purpose for…
  • I'd suggest giving your taste buds time to adjust. The plain Chobani can take a little getting used to - but so does removing the 'fake' sweeteners out of your diet. I prefer to have some freshly sliced apple or nut combo (walnuts, almonds, cashews).
  • I'd really suggest using a HRM, and creating your own exercise under 'cardio'.. I am halfway through level 2, and I have found that the calories burned numbers can fluctuate a bit for some reason.
  • Hiya... You can check the videos on youtube, or I bought the DVD from Target (would have been cheaper to get at Amazon or somewhere.). I think JB HiFi and similar places have them too
  • I'm an exercise after work girl.....I'm too snug in the morning to get up early - plus its the only way I can be sure get out of the office at a decent hour. I then block some time in the early evening that I am not free to do conference calls and do 30Ds or hit the gym - its my way of defining 'me' time.
  • I'd have to agree with Haanmom.. I could get obsessive about things, so I work very hard to not be nit-picky... I log a day ahead as a way of meal planning - and then tweak if I add things/ don't eat something. I guess I make sure I log the less healthy items - and don't fuss too much if I don't get to log healthier items…
  • I started 30DS on 1 April, have done the 10days on level 1 and ready for level 2 tomorrow. My 'rest days' have been spent doing a weight/ cardio programme at the gym. There was a time when I did the 30DS twice in a day - did I pay for it the next day! I'm due to measure next at the end of the month - but I can feel a…
  • I'm doing the 30DS for 2 or 3 days in a row, and on the next day doing my weights/ cardio routine at the gym. I know others are focussed on doing 30days straight - but I have heard that this is the way that JM recommends it. Started on 1 April, and about to start Level 2 tomorrow.
  • What about persisting and learning to manage the flavour as it is... You may actually come to enjoy it!
  • I so agree with this - maybe do another 5mins of stretches (quads, calves etc)... You may not feel like it now, but just a few more days in and you will be wanting to do more crunches & squats! I am on L1D9 - and find myself doing a little jig around the house once I've done the shred !!?!?
  • I have learnt, painfully, there is never the right thing to say - every one's experience is different. The best response I got when my father was ill was "Life can really suck". Which it did at the time, it validated what we were all thinking - but didn't become something to dwell on. Hearing this was so much better than…
