  • I work out at the gym or do some other active thing (bike, hike, walk) something like 6 of 7 days per week. I do the gym on average for 45 minutes to an hour during the week and maybe somewhat over an hour on weekends. I do a mix of cardiovascular and resistance training. No set routine but I almost always row because I…
  • Nope. Some weeks I don't lose. Then I suddenly go down a pound or three over the next week or so. Then nothing. Don't bother to weigh during that time of the month anymore since I can appear to have gained up to 4 pounds then! It doesn't bother me anymore.
  • I was you in high school. Desperately wanted a pair of Guess Jeans. I couldn't fit into the largest size, which was like a 29 waist. I hated myself. Over time I've realized that I was a fat girl and uncool girl as a teen but in the long run, no one cared that much except me. I get wanting to fit in and be like other people…
  • I'd love to bike to work but there are several challenges with that. First is that I've no where to lock up the bike once I get here. Second is the sweat factor. I work in a professional setting and being disheveled after riding in would be an issue. Third is helmet hair! Currently I take the subway which is a half mile…
  • I'm vegetarian as well and have been for 5 years. Was on and off vegetarian for the 15 years before that as well. Feel free to add me if you like. I eat a lot of veggies and very little "fake" meat.
  • If you know you're going to exercise on a particular day perhaps you could just eat more before you exercise in preparation for burning those calories. I don't like to eat much shortly after a workout either so I just eat more several hours before hand.
  • I agree, it's tasty and healthy. I usually make a pilaf with it. The packet I bought actually had a recipe on it.
  • I weigh myself daily but I don't get discouraged when it's up a pound or two or it's not changing. If you get easily discouraged then probably a weekly weigh in at the same time each week is better for you.
  • New York Sports Club. I have access to all clubs in Nyc, Boston, DC and Philadelphia.
  • I'm not early 30's but rather mid. However I'm losing weight at an acceptable rate and also losing inches. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like.
  • Something like $150 - 200 per week for two adults and an eight year old. I live in NYC and we primarily buy fruit and produce. Packaged goods I usually buy organic or natural brands.
  • I took a mini break from eating only healthy and within my calorie limit but still stayed active. I didn't gain or lose. It was fine and I enjoyed my nachos and pizza and sweet potato fries :-) I say you try to make good food choices and stay active and you'll enjoy your time away!
  • Lots of veggies over quinoa.
  • He knows I count my calories but he also knows that he doesn't have to count his own because he's 8. However he reads food labels and gets that certain things are worse than others. Like things with high sodium numbers or high sugar numbers. He's well aware that fruits and vegetables are better for him than marshmallows,…
  • Natural peanut butter is natural. Regular peanut butter is not. I prefer the fat that the peanuts naturally come with over the fat it doesn't naturally come with. I'm not at all scared of the cast in peanut butter. It's a natural and healthy fat. Plus you're not meant to eat gallons of it. Most of the time on he tablespoon…
  • I put them in my oat bran cereal every morning. They thicken it a bit more. I don't know if they are a miracle supplement but they haven't caused me any harm.
  • I get home after 5 pm every night and cook something simple for my son. Beans and rice. Macaroni and cheese. Pasta. Quesadilla. Accompanied by steamed veggies or carrot sticks.
  • Not quite sure why you'd need that much protein. I'm vegetarian as well and I can get in 70 to 100 grams of protein per day if I work at it. I eat Greek yogurt, oat bran, legumes like lentils and occasionally a Think Thin protein bar. I work out 5 days per week on average. I don't know who told you that one cannot lose…
  • You have to allow yourself some leeway or you'll just give up. I don't fret if I eat too much one day, I just work harder the next day to exercise and eat a more balanced diet. I figure, it's not like your body resets every night at midnight or something. If you're doing well over a period of time then the little "fail"…
  • I enjoy using the elliptical at the gym but I don't use it exclusively. I always try to switch up my routine. I do feel like the elliptical is effective if you use a high enough resistance. I have to feel the muscles working otherwise I don't think I'm working hard enough.
  • I'm fortunate to be able to work out at lunch time 4 days per week. Since I work in Midtown Manhattan I walk just a couple of blocks and my gym is right there. Weekends my husband and I switch off our gym times. Sometimes I drop him off after our son's piano class and then he walks or takes the train the 2 miles home.…
  • Around 1400 net. I eat back my exercise calories so it could be as much as 1800 food calories if I have a good work out.
  • I work for the Federal Government. Turnover is generally low. People usually leave only upon retirement. However with the upcoming furloughs, who knows... People may start looking elsewhere.
  • I certainly think it's perception. My tall male co worker lost a significant amount of weight and he told me everyone was commenting (not in a positive way). I asked how he'd lost the weight and he had done it through better eating and daily workouts. I was not concerned about the weight loss after that because he'd done…
  • I am less hungry in the days I do a more intense workout. I wasn't eating my calories back end I was feeling tired. Now I work hard to eat them back. If I'm not that hungry I just eat something calorie dense, like a nut butter or just nuts themselves. Not filling but calorie dense.
  • I have eaten a vegetarian diet on and off for 20 years. I've eaten only vegetarian for the past 4 years. All I can say is that eating less meat isn't difficult. It's a healthy choice but you need to educate yourself. Cheese and dairy are good in moderation but I got fat eating too much cheese. Legumes must be your friend…
  • I just bought some chia seeds yesterday and put them in my oat bran cereal this morning. Didn't notice any big taste difference.
  • I with you. I'm a 36 year old mom who is looking to lose weight but more importantly to be healthy. I don't know my actual start weight but it was in the 170's (the scale and I don't get along) CW: 159 GW: 135 Oh and I'm 5'5" (even though my doctor seems to think I'm 5'4"!) I eat real food, mostly whole foods (I cook most…
  • I used to have this problem all the time when I ate cold cereal and milk for breakfast. Also if I eat too early. Now I eat a high fiber breakfast of oat bran and pumpkin, plus I eat a little later, when I get to work instead of right away at home. That seems to help. Also I now delay my coffee until I get to work.
  • I'm vegetarian, have been on and off since I was a teen. Now it's been 4 years and I don't see myself going back to meat. I always felt uneasy preparing meat so it's logical for me to cut it out completely. Not committed to going vegan but have cut way back on my dairy intake and rarely eat eggs. At this point it is a…
