you don't have to eat salad to diet, just eat fewer calories than you burn. to find out if you're doing that, you're going to have to track calories somehow.

i have that! and it does make it better . . . tbh, i don't hate running, i do hate the soreness and tightness after it despite stretching, but that could be just because i started back up. in miami, i only run in the cooler months, when daylight savings means i can wake up early and avoid the sun entirely.

QFT literally lol, also, i'm gonna have to give that a shot because it doesn't work the other way for me either.

i have friendsgiving on sunday usually about 20 people and everyone brings something. i bring broccoli casserole (it's basically just broccoli onions and velveeta topped with cornflakes - don't knock it until you've tried it). and then for thanksgiving i'm making the brussel sprouts roasted with sriracha aioli and the…

truthiness. i hope it helps a ton!

i'll maybe attempt some semblance of logging but i won't be relying on its accuracy. i'll likely do a long run in the morning and then drink a lot of wine and fill up on appetizers as per usual.

that's a good cushion and you've got plenty of room for days like this. i would even say that having 2500 calories is a big deficit. what did the doctors say?
-
i just checked my fitbit log (not saying it's accurate but maybe useful in this comparison) and it looks like i've topped 3000 calories TDEE 3 times in the past few weeks. my highest was 4,561. that was the 24 hours of october 28 - i arrived at a music festival a little before midnight on the 27th, set up camp, walked…

well, given what you've said, i'm just going to assume that you were 5 times as active getting up out of your chair to get your 5 small meals than you were when you only got out of your chair 1 time to get your 1 meal. *please read in a light-hearted tone"

right, i get that, i guess i went off on a bit of a tangent about the snack being irrelevant to actual airline policies, but i stand by my feeling that it's shaming and demeaning regardless of whether it's a reality or a joke. i just don't find 'laugh at the fat person for being fat' jokes funny. i actually just tried to…

but who was in on it? if it was a practical joke on the passengers then it's horrible. if it was filmed with actors for the 'benefit' of people walking by, i guess it's slightly less terrible, but i know that if i was waiting in line for a ticket and saw people being weighed i wouldn't think it was funny, i would feel…

the bolded above is, imo, unnecessary and shaming. i don't think the fee is irrelevant but asking them to forfeit a 45 calorie pack of pretzels is just ridiculous. it does nothing to alleviate whatever additional fuel costs may be incurred with a heavier flight and has only the intent to embarrass and demean. gross.

i have sleep apnea and it's either triggered by heavy drinking or by acid reflux. since losing 25 pounds (with 30 more to go) i've not had acid reflux nearly as bad and that has made incidents of sleep apnea decrease significantly. as for the drinking triggered apnea, that will probably always be an issue but i try not to…

i don't see anything dangerous about this: particularly the bolded. and i can see good intentions in the second as well, although, i don't agree with separating the aesthetics from concerns about health entirely. i do agree that but divorcing weight from health entirely is problematic for reasons discussed at length above.…

this picture makes me so uncomfortable already. i'm taking a cross atlantic flight tomorrow overnight and i always dread the seats. i'm not skinny but i don't spill over the sides of my seat. my problem is being tallish with long legs and a relatively short torso, and knees that dig into the seat in front of me. i've had…

frozen trader joe's indian meals. not super glamorous but tasty and lowish cal.

this is probably not the right place for this confession, but i just feel the need to fess up: i get dr. oz and dr. phil mixed up. i feel better now. thanks. sorry for the temporary derail.

@quiksylver296 thank you kindly. :flowerforyou:

how are you logging your calories? there are some common pitfalls when you're new to logging, like using inaccurate measurements or entries in the database, or forgetting to log some things. someone will be by any minute with a chart. in the meantime, you could open your diary or give some more details to get some more…
-
i agree that it would be more specific to have the measurements as a universal guideline and that the extra sentence regarding women is superfluous, BUT it could be related to the way that gendered clothes are sized. so, a man, theoretically, may be more likely to know his chest and waist measurements because that's how he…

how are you liking the keto?

i do sl - but i do 3x5 and added accessory lifts cause i got bored but i'm not ready to move on.

ugh, i cannot decide between going to a party and drinking my calories (i love halloween parties and this is normally a no-brainer, BUT i'm sick from camping at the festival in 40 degree weather all weekend) OR staying home and handing out* candy and eating pizza. * also, handing in candy, if ya' know what i mean

chiming in to agree that starting a new routine can lead to water retention masking fat loss. and also that the scale can be a jerk sometimes. there are a couple of ways you can try to detach from the emotional aspect of weigh ins though. you can weigh infrequently and use other methods to gauge progress. are your clothes…

congrats! looks like you've found something that works for you! best of luck and go get 'em!

same. a healthy rate of loss for somebody with 25 pounds to lose is .5 pounds per week, making 5-10 pounds a more realistic goal. but i am for not putting numbers to deadlines and instead maybe focusing on changes in a broader way. maybe focus on logging every day until new years, or working your way up on exercise or even…

like having the uber drop me off at the gate of my complex and walking the half mile home. i actually find this to help, as long as i'm not texting an ex while doing so.

FWIW my little brother's seizures have been under control with medical marijuana - the occurrence is down about 95% from his previous treatments (of which there were MANY over the past 23 years). YMMV

this literally made my teeth cringe, i didn't know they could do that
