  • This ^^ You are never going to be happy with your body if you don't change your thoughts first.. you need to find some help, perhaps contact your doctors office and ask for some recommendations for someone to talk to about your body image issues. As for the gym.. absolutely don't worry about other people, they are not the…
  • Hi All, I could do with some new friends too, many of my current friends seem to have stopped logging and things are getting a bit quiet. Please feel free to add me :) Giddy
  • Edit: I give up..
  • I guess we are lucky here in Rotorua, we have over 100km of single track and fire roads at every level so people only have to come to one place to learn the basics then step up to the next level.. We have locally run MTB skills clinics, for groups of ladies, men and mixed and even one on one if that is what you are after..…
  • All of the brands mentioned are great, but shoes are very personal so try on different types and get what is comfortable for you. Definitely wool socks at least as high as your shoe to stop rubbing. They will need quite a bit if use to wear them in, so buy early and get wearing.. Note: I have strong ankles and really…
  • Oh that's cool. I have a Jett (men's) riding top, I prefer more a trail style baggy top to a traditional shaped riding top due to constant over heating.. will have to go check out their pants too :D I found an Australian brand of lycra shorts called Bellweather that cater to my large thighs if anyone is interested :)…
  • Actually as OP has said she has only recently started doing more than gentle exercise.. any new regular exercise will form new muscle growth as your body never did it before.. we are talking holding on to 1lb here and there instead of losing it, we aren't talking about bulking up. If her measurements are changing as per…
  • Sounds like the extra weight could be muscle related.. if this is the case, the more you use them the faster they will help you lose weight. Make sure you change up your exercise every now and again, try new things, don't let things get easy :)
  • I find this happens to me, but for two reasons.. I didn't eat enough on the day that I exercised (i.e. a 3000 cal mountain bike ride, that's a lot extra to eat!) or if I am not actually hungry but bored
  • You are still in the early stages of becoming a gym bunny so it could be that your muscle mass has started to increase (an indication of this is that many exercises slowly start getting easier), this could result in your weight staying the same.. THIS IS A GOOD THING! Have you noticed that your clothes are fitting…
  • I'm an eater.. I could happily eat 3000 cals a day, everyday, but instead I get about 1500 from MFP and make sure I work out enough during the week so I get an extra 500ish per day (I use a heart rate monitor to ensure the figures are reasonably accurate) so average out a total of about 2000 cals per day.. for me that is…
  • Yes and Yes.. The seats aren't as comfy as mine.. so yes but with baggies over the top.. Gym shoes flex and I find I get sore feet, so I wear a pair of SPD mountain bike shoes for spin as the firm soles gives my feet more support and less owies :)
  • Here is a video from the WEMBO 24hr Worlds that I attended in October in Canberra, Australia. It is from the perspective of single speed rider Brett Bellchambers (not the lady I was pit crewing for) but gives a good overview of the race and the sport. I did a few laps around the course prior to the race (I have previously…
  • Out for a ride on my local Rotorua tracks :) The top of Challenge Block.. Found this little guy on the side of the track, handed him in to lost and found :) Whakarewarewa Forest in full bloom :) Edit: I think I got this..
  • Surely you can't be doing any exercise with so little fuel. Also eating more frequently/regularly will help your appetite. Perhaps start planning your meals (they don't need to be big), add in a little exercise and this will help to kick start your metabolism, and your body will reward you by having more energy and making…
  • Yeah but how old is that photo??!! [Partner thinks it's from an old Evans Cycles ad circa 2003]
  • Seeing as though I can't stand the boredom of free weights I attend a Les Mills Body Pump class twice a week as part of my routine, which is a full body weights workout.. Monday - Run on treadmill, rowing machine, stationary bike (went MTB ride this week) Tuesday - Pump class Wednesday - Just started Step class Thursday -…
  • Our garage is a basement garage, so they are all tucked away down stairs, as we are only renting there is little point in lining the walls etc..lol. But they are all lined up in a (big long) bike stand, next to the tool bench and work stand. They do have entertainment in the way of TV, DVD and stereo, and the cars to keep…
  • I guess you would need to add in some more resistance training again to rebuild the lost muscle.. although a cardio exercise I have never come across a runner without reasonable muscle tone..
  • I currently have 2, a Transition Covert trail bike, and an Avanti Hotdog Jump bike. Used to have an Avanti Vitale womens specific road bike, but stopped riding on the road when we shifted to Rotorua (roads are too tight and scary). We also have my old Specialised Bighit frame hanging on the wall (with the 26inch back…
  • Do you think you might be losing muscle? The only thing I can think is that if the muscle is turning to fat, that could explain the weight loss and increase in inches (fat being lighter than muscle and all).
  • Hi All, I have been here a while, have friends who have lost their weight and some have moved on.. I am still working at this and have been stuck in a bit of a phunk recently.. I hope that I am on m way out of it now.. Anyone feel free to add me :)
  • Hi Ya, I am also technically still a chef, but re-trained some years ago and now work in an office based job.. the biggest surprise I got upon changing jobs was the amount of energy I used to burn while cooking that I don't burn now.. Yikes!! Hope you find some good recipes, there are heaps of good threads in the database…
  • Went over to Canberra, Australia to assist a friend who was competing in the WEMBO World 24hr MTB Endurance Champs (she came 5th in her category BTW, so super stoked for her!!). We did a few laps of the course prior to the race.. This is the view from the top of Luge at Stromlo MTB park, see the double rainbow :) We came…
  • I quite like my SDG Anka Martin designed saddle :)
  • Definitely a combination of things.. seats are a very personal thing, and it isn't about the surface or construction of the seat, but the width of it vs the width of your 'sit bones' which determines comfort. That said you will get used to what ever seat you are using with time and a decent set of shorts, but it does take…
  • Depending on what types of cycling you want to see.. There is RAAM (Race Across America) - more info on it here http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/raam/raam2.php?N_webcat_id=24 a friend of ours is one of the mechanics.. it is completely bonkers!! For a bit of Downhill and Freeride action, check out anything by Anthill…
  • Feel free to add me, I'm on here everyday.. try to exercise 4 - 6 times per week.. although I have had a cold a for the last couple of days.. but still on here :)
  • I recently took several weeks off pump class then went back to class, dropped my weights a little, but OMG I hurt for days afterwards (probably should have gone even lighter).. I find when I have been working out for a while, so long as I feel like I am working as hard each time, which means increasing weights every now…
  • We have plenty of friends who have ridden the Scott Scale for racing over the years (generally the pro elites getting really sharp prices), however they do tend to be a single season race frame, and friends don't let friends buy second hand Scott.. so don't be surprised it the return on the frame at the end of the season…
