Went over to Canberra, Australia to assist a friend who was competing in the WEMBO World 24hr MTB Endurance Champs (she came 5th in her category BTW, so super stoked for her!!).
We did a few laps of the course prior to the race..
This is the view from the top of Luge at Stromlo MTB park, see the double rainbow
We came across this Echidna on the side of the track.. it thought that if it couldn't see us, then we wouldn't be able to see it
The sun about to set on Canberra, taken from the Skyline trail during a late afternoon ride
Race H/Q at about 6am - the morning of the second day.. just about time to take the lights off0 -

You should get out more :laugh:0 -
One from todays ride
and one showing the cleanup operation afterwards...
(I didn't take one of me getting an "outside shower" fully clothed before entering the house... there was FAR more mud on my riding kit than the washing machine would have been happy with... I've already killed one washing machine that way!)0 -
So many great looking places, but i don't know if most are in the US or somewhere else in the world. Could posters put in the country too? I want to go to all of them!!0

Rule #42
// A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
If it’s preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run, it is not called a bike race, it is called duathlon or a triathlon. Neither of which is a bike race. Also keep in mind that one should only swim in order to prevent drowning, and should only run if being chased. And even then, one should only run fast enough to prevent capture.0 -

Oh bother... Struggled to even post this, and it's been cropped. I do confess to being rather a luddite.0 -

These are from my first real mountain bike ride. I was in WAY over my head. In total it was 16 miles with a 2400 feet descent and a 2500 ascent. Sooooo, pretty much straight down then straight up. We ended up hiking the bikes back up the last 4 or 5 miles because I couldn't do the climb and the bf's hub broke. Despite all the the frustration of the day, it was fun and I will be getting my very own mtn bike in about a week. I will be easing myself in on some less technical trails. The hardest part is that going from road riding to mtn biking means basically relearning absolutely everything.

I have some photos for you from Sydney Australia - but how do I add attach a photo here?
store the file somewhere (flickr etc, or in the gallery here) then find the URL of the picture, and wrap it with [IM G] before and [/IM G] afterwards (missing out the spaces inside the square brackets - that's just a trick to get 'em to actually shown in this post!)0 -
my photos are with Picasa (that is why my blog is linked with) and I dont seem to be able to insert them here
here is one...

Here is a video from the WEMBO 24hr Worlds that I attended in October in Canberra, Australia. It is from the perspective of single speed rider Brett Bellchambers (not the lady I was pit crewing for) but gives a good overview of the race and the sport.
I did a few laps around the course prior to the race (I have previously put up pics from this) so enjoy

Amazing video! :drinker: Loved the night shots. Those were the best. I'm amazed people do that without falling over dead from exhaustion.0

not so much a photo, as a series of video's from a ride earlier this month...

A bit shaky, more a "proof of concept" and checkout for the camera... since then there have been a number of modifications made to hopfully fix the noise issues a bit and maybe get the framing a little better.0 -
Go easy on me, I'm a beginner! :-) pics are in order by date starting with my new bike purchase Dec26th (my birthday gift to myself!) I live in Spartanburg, South Carolina. My favorite place to bike is Dupont State Forest in Cedar Mountain, NC. The snow pics were from Bent Creek Area, Pisgah National Forest, NC last weekend.

and just to complete the set, I re-rode the loop, with a spare battery and got the last 1/3 of the ride as well

(worse weather, but better sound as I'd done a couple of modifications to the mounting and waterproof case to stop the rattling!)0
