  • My opinion only: 1. Don't weigh daily .. your body fluctuates constantly depending on hormones, bathroom habits ect. Once a week is good. (for example, I can put on 2 lbs one day and it will be gone by the next day..) 2. I would consider re-evaluating your calories. I personally feel this is too low and you're not doing…
  • Use the info in MFP to see where your carbs are creeping in. I limit to under 100gr of carbs a day as I have blood sugar issues, so I get wanting to keep them down. When mine start creeping up I look at the nutritional reports to see what I've eaten that's high(er). I eat bread daily and still stay in range .. I haven't…
  • I went to a theme park with my grandson and went on rides without worrying I wouldn't fit and suffer the embarrassment of being asked to not ride. I had such fun!! I did want to puke a little near the end but I held it together for my grandson!!!
  • It's a kick for sure isn't it. Same story really, T2 diagnosis the last week of Oct 2022. By February 2023, bloods back down to pre-diabetic range, another 2 months and bloods perfectly normal. I haven't given up all my favourite foods or tortured myself, because I've done that in the past and that's how I failed, each and…
  • Hi Lauren, Welcome back :) Can anyone really eat eat that 7 times a week? Oh sure, lotsa thin 20 somethings on Insta say they do but...do they? If your in the calorie in/calorie out club, its as simple as finding your calorie goals and logging everything you eat. I've lost 75 pounds in less than a year, I do not do ANY…
  • Hi Kylee and welcome! I hear you.. seems like I've been struggling to lose weight my entire life. However, you CAN do this! Follow through on your plans and it will happen :)
  • Have you contacted Support? I don't personally know how long the recipes stay around, but I do have recipes form several years ago in my account.
  • Welcome back :) You've got this!! Add me as a friend if you like.
  • Just been to the Dr this morning: 1. Blood pressure at 109/54 so he's completely taken me off 1 of my BP meds. Would like to reduce my other BP med but wants to wait about 6 weeks to see where its at. I'm happy with that! 2. HBA1C is almost at normal for the second time in a row. Wants to check in June again and if still…
  • Is this where the kool kids hang?
  • The scale says 60 lbs lost as of this morning! I'm delighted with myself :) Originally I was aiming to lose 75, but I'm going to adjust that to 100. That would bring me to what I weighed when I was 15, at my Dr's appt when the confirmed I was indeed pregnant. I was about 25 pounds overweight then as well.. but mentally, to…
  • @AllyCGR Sorry, just seeing your reply now! Sadly I haven't really found the eating out solution. I haven't been eating out much and when I do I plan in advance and make sure I am under calorie a little bit the day before and then I just go and without being totally crazy, just enjoy it. Then the next day I make to to stay…
  • I hear you on the nutrition goals, I too struggle trying to get enough protein. I started lifting weights last week (only 3 sessions in) and I need to figure out how to get my nutrition right.. Awe, please please please don't compare yourself to others in the gym. About 10 years ago I joined a fancy gym and everyone was…
  • An update: I'm down 33 pounds since this post! Had bloods done last week: Hba1c at 42! I'm back into the prediabetic range and Dr said if I can keep it up, he reckons in 3 months my levels will be normal. BP was also at 117/80, lowest its been in 13 years and again, reckons we can adjust BP meds in the next few months.
  • At the end of Oct 2022, my blood sugar level (hba1c) hit 66, T2 diabetes. This was after not listening to the Dr's warnings for a couple years that I was prediabetic. He finally said this is it, you're diabetic, time to go to the diabetes clinic. While waiting for my appointment with the clinic, I've worked hard, cut out…
  • Sounds like a solid plan! You can do this!
  • Congrats re: quitting smoking! I've just been given the type 2 diabetes diagnosis, so I'm trying to figure it all out. What I've been doing is looking at keto/low carb/paleo recipes. They are usually low sugar, the only thing you have to watch out for is with Paleo, they might use honey or maple syrup which obviously is a…
  • Welcome Steven. Congrats on your marriage!
  • Just wanted to say "hi". I'm in a similar boat (T2 diabetes, high blood pressure, pcos) and am trying to find my feet with healthy eating. I'm not sure of your fitness level, but if you're anything like me, who likes to jump in and try to do it all at once, while you do have to challenge yourself, please don't try…
  • I too am in the same boat. Serial MFP user  I'm back for good though..I've let things go too far and am now just dipping into T2 diabetes. I even signed up for the free month and will pay if it keeps me on track! Hope your feeling better soon!
  • Hi :) Everyone is on their own journey, some people don't mind low carb, others struggle. Also, the reason for going low carb is very individual. Do I want to go low carb, not really. Do I have to, yes. (medical) If you're used to eating carbs freely, cutting back to 100gr a day is tough..but totally doable. I think the…
  • Hiya. Just rebooting myself and am eating Primal. I'm no mentor..but I'm a friend :) Went Primal last year for almost 3 months and dropped 25 pounds. And have put all those back on since I stopped. So far I'm down 10 pounds in a month of being back at Primal.
  • Wow!! Good job, I bet you feel amazing!!!
  • Totally agree with this response. Not my place to assume or judge, good on ya Turtle, for respecting your wife's wishes. (and seeing how I am totally new on here, and this is my very first post, I'm sure I won't have any friends now either :) )
