I did too, back in 2006, and it STILL won't come off. Tried Paleo, low carb, eliminating wheat/dairy/caffeine/sugar/processed foods, I exercise like crazy, and NOTHING. My levels are in "normal" range and I'm on Synthroid and Cytomel, still have no energy and cannot lose a pound. I'll lose 1 or 2 and gain them right back.…

I rejoined and am logging again. Thinking about doing a combo of this and low carb, because I am so frustrated I don't know what else to do! Is anyone else still here?

It is awful. I feel dumber for having read the first two. The main character is an idiot and the author it is an awful writer. The online reviews are SO MUCH BETTER and hilarious. The author totally misses the mark, the sex scenes are lame, Christian Grey exhibits every trait of an abusive man (not a "Dom") and the main…

Thank you all SO much. I just need to get back in the right mindset (work stress + moving stress + so much running = no energy to eat right) and kick my own *kitten*. I really think I will shoot for the 50g per day range, vs the 100g per day I was doing at first -- and factor in a darn strawberry when I want, instead of a…

^^^^^^ YEP!

I worked at a gym that catered to women of all ages and fitness levels. Older women, deconditioned women, women who have never lifted a weight in their lives should not be pressing a 15lb kb. Not everyone is even in moderate shape when they start working out. A woman in her 70s looking to gain strength is not going to…

So can you not try yoga again because of your back? Did you have a careless teacher or what? If you like yoga and just the style or teacher contributed to your injury, once you heal, you could always try a video, a new studio, a new teacher, or new style. Right?

what about outdoorsy stuff like hiking, or even just walking? or biking outdoors? I always find that moving the workout from the gym to the park makes it more fun. :)

Target has some cute stuff too!

Aussie Catch the Wave mousse & leave-in conditioner in one. Apply, scrunch and blow or air dry... Less than $4 a bottle and works great!

How long have you had them and how many miles have you put on them? Typically, pain is the first sign that it's time for new shoes... Get thee to a running specialty store (not a big box or chain sporting goods store) and get properly fitted, stat! :drinker:

In general, doctors get little to no nutrition, "diet" or weight loss education unless they are specializing in that area.
-
^^^^^^^True story. Carbs do not burn fat. WTF?
-
None. Ever.
-
Just... WOW. And good for you for knowing your **** and sticking to your guns. I am at the point where I'm going to start burning herbs and chanting with crystals instead of taking time off work to meet yet another doctor that turns out to be a total idiot. I'm so freaking sick of doctors myself that this eating plan is my…

I make this same thing all the time... if I have it before a workout, sometimes I will add a half a banana (for longer workouts, to help me through) and I call it a Chunky Monkey. LOL.
-
What about adding some of the sports gels or beans (like Gu or SportBeans) that you can buy at sporting goods stores like Dic-k's? (sorry I know they will bleep that word!) You could maybe add those to your snacks that you have already packed to give you a glycogen boost? Also, as for the Powerade or Gatorade I'd really…

^^^^^^ This! Way to go!!!

Chocolate milk is a 'good' food if you are a runner. It is the perfect carb/sugar/protein mix to have after a run, as a recovery drink. So, chocolate milk is not 'bad'. If it were only that easy, we'd all be fit and fabulous without much effort.

Unless you can't digest soy, which kind of eliminates all of those "faux" meats and whatnot.
-
Go for it. Some will say if you aren't seeing what you want to see, add some strength training and that's fair enough. I know some chubby runners (I am one, LOL) and some ripped runners. All muscle, no fat, serious hot bods -- and they don't lift. A lot of it will depend on your body type but the nice thing is you can…
-
Goodness, I wish I lived where you live/work and had access to your doctors. I have been trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my crazy bod for years now and if one more doctor tells me to eat 1200 calories a day and "here, take these diet pills/antidepressants" I might go on a murderous rampage. I'm really…

Good to know. I used to take some massive quinine pills so I betcha the dosage was pretty substantial
-
Are you in the US? Not 100% sure but I don't think quinine is legal in the US anymore. I used to get it from my pharmacist when I was a kid and got terrible leg cramps, but couldn't get it after about age 10 because he said it was no longer legal. This may have changed though.
-
I believe that's called Restless Leg Syndrome and I think there are medications for it.
-
Hot yoga can get your HR up and burn some major calories. I don't care what the haters say. It's true for me.

Grape tomatoes, fresh mozzarella balls, basil leaves and balsamic vinaigrette. Toss and serve. Yum.

LOL

And that's why it's so great that there are so many options for different folks. When I was running 15-20 miles a week and eating lower carb, higher fat, higher protein, I was in great shape. When I was eating a "clean" diet and doing heavy (quite heavy) weights and HIIT, I packed on a layer of fat that wouldn't budge.…
