Don't eat things out of a box (or most cans). Seriously, even if fruit is higher in sugars, it's natural sugars. Look more for local/fresh fruits and vegetables than organic, because most organic produce in the store has to travel 10-100x further than local produce (meaning it's also probably older and less nutritious).…

We only eat together for dinner and weekends - we're at work the rest of the time. I try to have a high-protein, yummy breakfast (I made Bisquick Impossible Min-Pies with leftovers - they're in the freezer, fast, easy, chicken/veggies/eggs/a little cheese and end up right around 300 calories and filling), then pack or eat…

I have Flex (would be afraid to lose one on my clothes or leave it on and wash it. I wear it all the time. I have found it is a good tracker for everyday/aerobic (low impact/jogging, etc) exercise. I have been told it does not do as well if you are lifting or for very high exertion. Since I am wearing it on my wrist I'm…

I worked with some students who have Asperger's who have similar issues with textures and new foods. They loved smoothies because they could get protein and fiber and fruits/vegetables/fiber could be mixed in without a change in texture or for some of the fiber/new foods and supplements - taste.

I usually have 48 oz during the work day (two 24 oz bottles I fill with ice and water at home). If I work out after school before I get home, I usually refill one and have 72 oz. This doesn't include what I have with meals or at home (maybe another 24 and sometimes that's milk/juice) but if I drink those 48 oz only I…

When I talked with my doctor about the"half your bodyweight" recommendation, he had two things to say: 1) That recommendation really includes ALL liquid and water you are taking in. Remember a lot of fruits and vegetables are high water content, soups, tea/coffee, etc. Even things you think are not a lot of water (meats,…

I don't log in any extra activities really. I just wear my Fitbit all day. I set MFP to fairly active and it says I should be burning 2350 ish calories a day. When I sync my Fitbit if what I've already done that day + my base level for the rest of the day is more than that number it says I've "earned" calories and that…

I'm not sure about the TDEE because part of the problem is don't consider my activity consistent. M-F I'm at school for 8+ hours and walking around my science lab is the most active I get. My activity at the farm can be a half hour or 4+ hours of heavy lifting depending on the day and the summer is a whole other level. I…

Since I posted I've been reading some of the many other posts on the topic. Thanks for your input. I also try overestimate my food so if I do eat back all my earned calories I might still have a little wiggle room. I'm down 18 in 2.5 months, so I figure that's just over 7 a month or right about my 1.5/week. What is…

I have those dishwasher safe 24 oz cups (they look like to-go cups, you can get them at Wal-Mart/drugstore, etc). I fill two with ice then water each morning. I drink the water out of one on my way to work (40 minute commute), then take one in with me, drink it during the day (because of all the ice it pretty much stays…
