It's just disheartening to still see blubber around the waist :( I have lost cm around the waist though - 92 to 75 cm. I hate this getting old business.

Even if I lose two kilos, it won't bring me down to under 20%, I'm afraid. Even if I lose 2 kg of 100% fat, that still gives me 27% body fat.

Those last few pounds have stuck to me like glue, and they are driving me nuts. I am also unreasonably resentful that the more we lose, the less we weigh, so we have to eat EVEN LESS. I've changed up my exercise and temporarily changed my macros to more protein and fat, with less carbs. And then there is the holiday season…

Gah, almost a week has gone by since I last checked in. I am now at the stage of life where my parents are starting to need some assistance. They are both pretty spry and healthy 82 year olds, but lately my father has had some difficulty with his memory and low blood pressure. To stop him driving this week, I drove them to…

What about salted caramel popcorn? Salty and sweet, for all taste-buds: http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/35262/salted+caramel+popcorn

Now that is just plain wrong. I am 58, and I have lost 20 kilograms (45 pounds) over the past year or so, and I'm almost down to my goal weight. Let's prove 'em wrong.

My bad. I've been MIA from the group for a while. I have elderly parents who have been struggling lately, especially my dad who has had a few falls this past week. Seeing as, despite my good intentions, I didn't make much progress ditching my last 3 kilos in October, I will be persevering again this month. I have re-jigged…

This! I have degenerative disc disorder in my lower back. I was in mild/moderate constant pain for ages until I really focused on my core strength through Pilates and guided gym work. I am now actually pain-free for most of the time! I can't speak more highly of Pilates for back issues and general fitness.
-
I do wonder about that. My scales and the gym scales show similar measurements, but I'd love to get a more accurate measurement somehow.

Hi there everyone, Is anyone monitoring their body fat percentage? I'm getting annoyed that mine is not budging and sits around 30 percent, according to both my Withings scale and the scale at the gym. I feel that I'm exercising for England!

Kim from Northern California - yes, that's a good idea, getting a used piece of exercise equipment for home so I can do something while I watch the news. Terrible news from Canada. My best wishes go out to you all. Fundamentalists from any religion bring so much grief to this world. Still not shaking my last few kilos, but…

Gah! Haven't posted for ages. Still struggling to maintain an average 500 calorie per day burn from exercise (so not including cleaning the house, laundry, etc). It is very time-consuming! Sometimes I wish I had an exercise machine of some sorts so I can do something while watching the news. Hi from Deb in Melbourne.

Hi everyone! Just checking in to say thanks for all the compliments on my 'transformation'. Realistically, I only had about 45 pounds to lose, that crept on after menopause and two broken ankles. What I have really enjoyed is getting into Pilates, and going to the gym. It's become a family affair because I take my 27 year…

Speaking of boobs..... One thing I noticed, with my own weight loss and what I've noticed with other women, is this: Once you do start losing weight, adjust your bra straps so the girls are lifted more. It immediately looks like you've lost another bunch of weight, and I think it takes years off your age. Try it!

These are the closest pix I have of before and after. I was at my heaviest in the first photo two years ago (I'm sitting down on the far left), probably around 80 kg, all around the middle. In the photo on the right, I was down to about 65 kg in February this year at my niece's wedding. Since then I've lost another 5 or so…

Righto, upside down pics. *runs off to read up*

Ah Lesley, what a cheeky beagle. But just yuck! Our old Labrador used to roll in the stinkiest things he could find: dead fish, dead rats or possums, rotten food, just ewww. So far our German Shepherd hasn't rolled in anything, partly because he's rarely off the leash (people panic when they see him). He did rub himself on…

Barbiecat - what a fabulous effort! You look so happy and healthy. Good for you. I managed to go out for dinner last night without breaking the calorie bank. No one was drinking, so I didn't partake either. I chose a grilled lamb rump with garbanzo beans, red bell peppers and a delicious yoghurt sauce. Today I hit 600…

Aha! Here you all are. Of course I've now forgotten what I was going to post over the past couple of days. It's so hard trying to stick to my goal of over 500 calories a day burned (it ends up being 600 per day for 6 days as I don't exercise on Mondays). I wear a chest HRM so I'm pretty accurate with expenditure. It's just…

It's Monday morning in Melbourne, and a day I don't get any exercise  I work 10 hours and don't have any energy to exercise when I get home. Exermom: Peri-peri oil is olive oil with chilies and spices in it. Delicious, if you like spicy things. My 21 year old daughter has now joined my gym, so we work out together.…

Long-time Runkeeper user here. Love it. I've also checked it's calorie burn against my Suunto chest-strap HRM and it was very, very close.

Hi everyone, It is a beautiful spring day in Melbourne, and I have been for a 7 km walk with a friend this morning, and I plan to walk the dog later on today. That should push me over my 500 cals burned aim for the day. We had the most beautiful dinner last night: salmon fillet marinated in peri-peri oil with couscous and…

Good morning everyone. We do sound a very busy group, don't we? Many of us still have children at home, and are also caring for parents. And I'm not sure of everyone's personal situations, but it might be that some of us care for family with disabilities. I have an adult son at home, Rory, who is blind and has Asperger's…

I can finally stomach Brussel sprouts after years of disliking them immensely. They have to be cut up small, and hopefully buried in a tasty casserole or slow-cooked meal. But my biggest healthy food failing is a huge horror of bananas. Blech, blech, retch. I can't stand banana-flavoured foods either. Love all the other…

Hi all. I'm Deb in Melbourne, Australia, age 58. My body is stubbornly clinging to the last 3 kilos, which is annoying the crap out of me. I know it's just a number, but I am determined! My goal this month is to average 500 calories a day lost through activity over and above normal daily living. This will be combinations…

I take 3 to 4 classes of Pilates a week. Two are lower energy, and have been wonderful for stretching and flexibility. Two are very high energy and I burn a lot of calories according to my chest-worn HRM, about 400 kcal per class. Pilates has really, really helped with my lower back problems, which in turn has enabled me…

Same! I walked a lot at 36 weeks (gave up running at around 4 months into pregnancy) and had so many B-H contractions I thought I would have the baby under a bush. Certainly not wimpy at this time in your life.

Oh lord, I'm down to the last 3 kilos as well, and they are sticking to me like cement. At least my percentage body fat and waist measurements are decreasing. I've started being more militant about getting in some HIIT (high intensity interval training) three times a week, as well as continuing Pilates and other gym work.…

I'm not gonna lie; one motivation is certainly vanity. But I think my main motivation is comfort. I just hated the discomfort of being overweight: thigh-chafing, squishing behind the steering wheel, boob sweat, etc. But yes, I believe I look better when I'm not overweight.
