  • Good job! Keep up the great work! Stick to today and maybe you'll wake up skinny tomorrow. ;) (I'm still waiting for that day and I've been doing this over fourth months....wtf?? haha) One day at a time, you've got the right attitude, you got this!
  • I have never ever ever had trouble eating enough calories, lol. But I have noticed that much smaller amounts of food make me very full now that my body has gotten accustomed to eating less, stomach has shrunk, etc.
  • When my chiropracter asked what I do for exercise and I told him elliptical he told me to cut it out entirely and stick to walking/jogging. :/
  • I did actually do a very similar version of this diet when I was a teenager. I lost about ten pounds in the week. In retrospect I'm sure that was mostly water and muscle and it was probably not healthy. I was also miserable the whole time. I wouldn't recommend it. :/
  • Congrats, you look great! Kudos on giving your own health and happiness more priority now that everything else has settled down. I am pear shaped also, so you have given me a sneak peak at how I might look if I keep at the weight loss and fitness thing - very inspiring!
  • While I do not believe detoxing or cleansing really does much to remove "toxins" from the body, I do believe it can by symbolic to help you feel like you've gotten a jump start and to get yourself back on track. It can be valuable to get yourself into the right mindset if that's what you think is going to help you. I have…
  • That's fantastic, keep up the great work!
  • I don't think it's possible for quitting smoking to slow your metabolism by 75%. Wouldn't that mean that instead of burning 2000 calories a day (for example) that you would only burn 500? Nahhhh.
  • LOL thank you for such a comically written post. This does sound like it would put a damper on your running. I second what someone else said - get a stick of Body Glide and grease up before a run - it should hopefully help. (As a woman with significant thighs, I use Glide to prevent chub rub when wearing a dress or skirt -…
  • I agree with everyone else. Moderation is key. What has been working for me is to make the effort to include more of the good stuff (making an effort to have at least two veggies a day and several fruits, making sure I get a lot of protein from chicken, fish, cottage cheese, egg whites [I love eggs but prefer to cut out…
  • Could be that you have a larger frame and more muscle than the average women with those approximate stats? And as someone else also mentioned that those few measurements don't give info on hip/butt/thigh/arm etc size, so maybe that plays into it too. This is so interesting!
  • Hey man if this is the first time you've had an off day, that's not too bad. Just get back on track tomorrow. If you are like me and weigh yourself obsessively everyday lol, you may be up a pound or two tomorrow but don't freak out, it'll process out of your system in a couple days. Congrats on your progress, doing great!
  • I agree with several suggestions others have made. Don't keep it in the house. Or maybe buy it and portion it out for yourself so that you can grab a serving at a time (easier done with Cheetos than ice cream). Or just go to bed once the food craving hits. I do this a lot: "Man I'm feeling wicked snacky...time for bed!"…
  • I log everything except calorie-free beverages. (Even logging things like diet soda is important though if you are keeping track of sodium.) It may not make a huge difference in your weight loss if you eat 20 calories of lettuce that you don't log, but at least for me it's an accountability thing. Like someone else said,…
  • My comment is not related to your original question, but I just wanted to say that there is nothing too strong or awkward about "Would you like to go on a date sometime?" Props to you for being straightforward and having the confidence to put yourself out there! Maybe he'll get himself all straightened out and you guys…
  • Almost everyone in my family is overweight or obese (myself included - [but not for too much longer!]) and my brother was pretty chubby up until middle school. Then he joined the cross country team and grew a foot taller, etc. and since then has been very slim. My whole family used to always pick on him for being too…
  • LMAO! Some of the worst advice I've gotten is to just eat three square meals a day. If I don't eat small meals and a LOT of snacks, I get really stabby! Then I hoover a ton of calories because I'm ravenously hungry and gain weight. :D
  • Hi OP! You obviously have every right to decide which meds you do and do not want to take, so I'm certainly not trying to tell you what to do. But I thought I'd offer this tidbit in case it changes your opinion at all about the suicide warning aspect of this: The main reason anti-depressants have a warning label (and are…
  • I have the BodyMedia core and LOVE it. I'd say the calorie burn is pretty accurate - I have it linked up with my MFP account so it increases my calories when I work out, and I have been losing about 1.5 to 2 pounds a week or more, so it seems to be giving me the right kind of info! As far as the arm band - I started out…
  • Congrats on the new healthier you! You look great. You look quite a bit younger now too I think! Keep up the great work!
  • I hear ya, girl. I am a little touchy about stuff like that too. I'm sure your co-worker meant well but her good intentions were a little ill-informed it sounds like.
  • I've been on myfitnesspal and dieting seriously for about three months now. During that time I've had maybe four instances I would consider outside my usual eating patterns. Two weddings, a bridal shower, and my birthday. At the two weddings I at a few appetizers, the meal, a small piece of cake, and a couple glasses of…
  • Thanks for sharing your story! I think a lot of us can relate to your story about the doctor. Next time someone stops you during your work out just keep going and say, can't stop, gotta keep my heart rate up! lol. Good luck with your journey toward better health and weight loss!
  • You look great! Sounds like you are feeling great, too, so that's a double win! :D Congrats on the new little family!
  • Hey Emsie - I'm in the U.S. 27 year old female - I have about 95 pounds to lose. Feel free to add me. My food diary is open. :) Good luck with your weight loss!
  • I like this approach. Just curious - do your low and high calorie days tend to correspond with days on which you don't or do workout, respectively?
  • I don't notice competitiveness at my gym. People pretty much keep to themselves, including their eyeballs. *shrug* When I'm lifting I'm focused on finishing my reps and when I'm doing cardio I generally have my nose buried in a book! :D
  • Also, I love almond butter, too! I will have that some days instead of peanut butter. To me it's just as tasty, in a different way. If you are concerned about fat grams and calories, though, it's really no better or worse than regular old peanut butter.
  • I eat cheese and peanut butter every day and have lost 22 pounds in about two months. Definitely portion control. I will have one tablespoon of peanut butter every day with an apple or a banana (as opposed to eating like six tablespoons out of the jar like I used to...eek) and one piece of cheese. I also love cheddar but…
  • Me too! And I go by Angie, so the Rolling Stones Angie is one of my faves. :)
