  • Yeah, aside from making sure you're really well hydrated (like drink several cups of water in the hour leading up to your workout if you can), you might just be going too hard for right now. If you're naked and there's a breeze and you're still hot...not much else you can do! lol! Good luck!
  • Similar to what others have said...if I eat something and don't know how many calories are in it, I usually assume I have ruined my day and then I get into the f*** it mentality and eat everything. What helps me with that is estimating how many calories are in the food before I eat it (maybe by searching MFP and getting a…
  • I have found the same thing, that when I take any amount of time off from lifting, it's hard to get back into it. I usually do fewer reps and that works for me to get back into it. But any of the solutions you mentioned would probably work. Hopefully someone with more experience chimes in. Good luck!
  • If it's the sugar you're worried about, there's always diet soda, of course. (Some don't like the taste, but I've also heard plenty say they really got used to it after a while.) Then again any soda's not great because of the acidity and chemicals. When I tried quitting my caffeine addiction a few years ago, flavored…
  • I was having the same problem a while back when I was lifting heavy on legs and also ramping up my distance jogged. I found that really paying attention to my potassium intake and intentionally and effortfully increasing the amount of potassium rich foods I ate helped a lot. (I never realized how hard it is to get anywhere…
  • Haha, I see you use peanut butter in cottage cheese also - whew, now I don't feel so weird!
  • It took me a long time to love cottage cheese but I was also determined to make it a staple in my diet because it's got so much protein. I eat Hood low fat no salt added cottage cheese. (I try to keep my sodium in check because hypertension runs in the family.) I use it instead of salad dressing on a salad with lots of…
  • Trader Joe's sells a chewey ginger candy that's not too many calories that can be helpful to settle the stomach. Good luck with the weight loss! I would give my advice, but I don't know how great it would be since I put on about 40 pounds in the four years of college. :/ I would echo the advice of previous posters - don't…
  • You look amazing! Wow! You rock those boots, too. Congrats on your journey so far, and keep up the great work.
  • Yep. I do miss wolfing down seven or eight servings of things. When I have ice cream now, I get out my half a cup measuring cup and sit down and slowly eat my one serving. And I enjoy it. But there are times I want to just stand in the kitchen with carton and spoon and have at it. I know there are people who eat like crap…
  • I have always been a big eater, was overweight in middle school and high school. College came around and combine drinking with all you can eat dining halls that actually had delicious food and bam I gained the freshman 15x2. Just kept adding on the weight up until February when I realized what I was doing to myself. Thank…
  • My right knee makes a grinding/crunching sound when I go down stairs. It makes my skin crawl. You should see how I go down stairs when there's no one around to see me, anything to not hear that sound, ugh! Right now it doesn't hurt but it's been like that for seven or eight years so I'm sure before long I'll be…
  • Ahhahahahahah that's awesome!
  • I don't think there is a way to track it but you can think of it like this - if you go over your calories by 200 one day, you need to have 100 "extra" calories left over for the next two days, or 50 over the next four days etc. You could keep a post it note by your computer, if that's how you enter your calories.…
  • OM NOM NOM NOM CHEESE
  • I think the general consensus of what I've read as answers to similar questions on here before is that especially for women, lifting heavy won't make you bulkier if you are eating at a calorie deficit but it will tone you up, so I would go ahead and lift heavy for your legs. I'm a pear shape too and I always lose weight…
  • Everyone has already suggested everything I would have suggested (I usually eat them with either margarine, cream cheese, or peanut butter - sorry I'm no help there!) but I just want to echo everyone's sentiments that I am so happy for you that you are on the road to recovery, and I wish you good luck and good health! <3
  • Wow! What a transformation! Congrats on the success. :)
  • Thanks everyone! Yeah, this is the most amount of weight I've ever lost at one time, and it's the first time I've stuck to anything for this long, so it definitely feels like I can make it a lifestyle change instead of just a diet and end that yo-yo cycle!
  • I HATE the cold and it saps my motivation too. Especially in winter when the cold makes my face hurt lol. I just want to stay huddled up inside in a blanket. I think working out is especially important during the cold weather and when we don't get a lot of day light. My mood is usually a lot lower when we have less…
  • I don't remember when the first time was for me. I've always been an eater, and I'm sure I've been a stress eater since I was little. But I do remember the first time I really became aware of it. A few years ago my boss was away from my job for about a year, which you would think would be heavenly, but it just made me…
  • If you just chew something and none of it goes down your throat into your stomach...I would have to assume you're not getting any calories from that. I could be wrong though. I think the hard part would be to actually pull that off. I've had the same thought in the past but once I get something tasty it's going in my belly…
  • I also have to get about that much protein (I'm pretty overweight still). I eat a lot of chicken, tuna fish, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, beans, lentils, almonds, etc. Egg whites for breakfast. Protein shakes also, on the days I lift. A can of tuna fish has like 22g of protein for ~100 calories, for example, so just…
  • I was really confused about this at one point too! I only have 100 calorie mini bags in my house right now, but if I recall correctly, the serving size is based on the unpopped kernels, and so if there are 2.5 servings per bag, you'd want to multiply the unpopped calories by 2.5 for the whole bag. (The confusing part is…
  • Hmm - that's weird, usually you'd think building cardiovascular endurance would lower your resting heart rate. Have you had any change in your caffeine consumption or stress? Those are two things that I can think of that would increase your resting heart rate. Good luck!
  • Yes, log. Log log log. If you eat it, log it. Not only will you then see how many calories are in whatever you crammed in your mouth (like the time I ate a pint of Ben & Jerry's and logged it...omg...never again), but also, BECAUSE it's a pain to log stuff, you may find yourself only eating foods that are worth logging!…
  • I like to have a light breakfast (egg whites and a banana) and my headache preventing dose of caffeine and then head to the gym. :) ETA: I also chug a bunch of water before I go!
  • I love popcorn as a snack, really satisfying. My go-to topping is a spritz of spray butter, parmesan cheese, and onion powder mmm. There are so many good ideas in the link you posted, thank you! I want to try the Mexican chocolate one, and the chocolate chips one...omg yum.
  • I agree with everyone who's said egg whites. I have a half a cup of egg whites (from a carton) cooked up for breakfast every day and that gives ya a good boost of protein. Also cottage cheese. I use Hood low fat no salt added, usually put it on salads, mmm. Protein powder too, especially on days I work out. I like to try…
  • I'm guessing that the wraps and the dip might have a fair amount of sodium, too, yeah? I also try really hard to limit my sodium, and it's hard. I use Hood low fat, no salt added cottage cheese on my salads instead of dressing, because it is very low sodium and provides a good amount of protein. I eat low salt rice…
