  • I've also used tortillas, bagel thins, Flat Outs, halved pitas, and lavash. Tortillas and bagel thins are my preferred substitute. It doesn't quite hit the pizza craving completely, but one thing that I've added into my dinner rotation is to butterfly and pound out a chicken breast and then pan fry it in a little olive oil…
  • Someone already mentioned Rice Chex, I'll second that. My friend who's GF uses it and it reminds me of panko, which I love.
  • I second the bento box idea, but I always call it my picnic or ploughman's lunch. I pack several things that add up to about 500 cal.
  • Skinnytaste and Emilybites are really popular blogs with great low cal recipes. I also like to get vegetarian/vegan cookbooks from the library. I'm a full blown meat eater but really bulking up on fruits, veggies, and whole grains really helped me in the past. I'm getting back on the wagon myself. Good luck!
  • One of my favorites is a 1lb of chicken breasts, 16oz bottle of salsa verde, juice of 1 lime, 2 cloves of crushed garlic, a tsp of dried oregano, a tsp on onion powder, and a 1/4 c of green taco sauce. Cook on high for 4 hours, then shred the chicken and eat with tortillas or in a salad.
  • I vote honey, because I like honey. I only like molasses in ginger snap cookies and I prefer my maple syrup to be on pancakes. When I'm avoiding white sugar I reach for the honey.
  • I just cancelled my gym membership because I have to cut back (and I never went). I have an Amazon Prime account (I'm a college student), and they have *tons* of different work out DVDs. If you know someone with a DVD burner, go to the library and check out DVDs then make copies of the ones you like. Also, I'm looking into…
  • I love to add a little tamari/soy sauce, a sprinkle of garlic and onion powder, and LF shredded cheese.
  • Lemon curd! It's so friggin good. I get a jar from Trader Joe's but you can find it at most grocery stores. I'm tempted to try lime curd the next time I see it. I've thought about trying PB or PB2, but I haven't yet.
  • Skinnytaste has a variety of low fat dressing recipes.
  • I love the taste of onions, but not their texture. If its a long cooking soup or stew, I use finely diced onion (in chili, beef stew, pork verde, etc). I also use fine dice when I'm cooking pilaf or risotto. Otherwise I tend to also use leeks in place of onions in most dishes.
  • Batman the Animated Series- I heart Mark Hamil's Joker. There's more. I watched a lot of TV as a kid. More than I should have, but we didn't own any gaming stations until I was 11 or 12.
  • I make Ming Tsai's Gyoza potstickers with 93/7 ground turkey. My favoirte dipping sauce is rice wine vinegar, tamari/soy sauce, and a bit of sesame oil.
  • I've fallen in love with Urban Decay eyeshadow and Kat Von D's lipstick. Too bad they're so $$$. I do use Philosophy's Take a Deep Breath. It's the best moistrurizer for my combo with adult acne skin.
  • I don't really cry during songs but ones that give me goosebumps are "I Dreamed a Dream"- anyone who sings it well really but especially Anne Hathaway, Susan Boyle, Mandy Pantinkin, and Patti LuPone "Hurt"- the Johnny Cash cover "Vincent"- either Don McLean's or Josh Groban's
  • I'm nearly double my high school weight. I graduated at about 175lbs (size 18). I'm currently 310-ish (size 24/26). My 10 year reunion is next year. I don't plan on going but I'd like to be under 200lbs by next summer when I graduate with my MFA in writing.
  • My '85 Chevy Celebrity was Nora. My '97 Pontiac Sunfire was Jess. My '05 Neon was Louie, and my current '11 Nissan Versa is Vera.
  • I love to make satay sauce to serve over veggies like carrots.
  • Allrecipes has a section for special diets: http://tinyurl.com/klpverz I'm not vegan, but I've tried to pump up my fruit/veggie count with vegan recipes. Since vegan diets are dairy/egg free you could find a few ideas from vegan cookbooks or websites.
  • I can't stand milk in green/regular smoothies. I use juice in my smoothies because I use honey in my tea and I try to watch my extra sugars.
  • SkinnyTaste and EmilyBites are among my favorite food blogs for ideas, I also like the Cook This Not That series. I believe learning cooking basics is the key to creating variety in the diet so I suggest picking up a copy of How to Cook Everything by Mark Bittman.
  • I do like water, but when I need a break True Lemon flavors like raspberry lemonade and peach lemonade aren't bad.
  • I usually use Greek yogurt as a mini-meal since it's bigger than a snack: 7oz container of Fage 0% 1 tbl jam (lemon curd is awesome too) 1/2 c unsweetened fruit. Beware adding more sugar to the vanilla yogurt varieties as they already have sugar in them. Often as much as fruit on the bottom. If I'm too lazy Fage's Fruyo is…
  • When I was in London earlier this year I had duck in an orange sauce that tasted like 5 spice was used with rice noodles. You could just add it to a stir fry with an orange sauce.
  • I've seen unsweetened/plain from Lifeway and Greek Gods. Ask your customer service at your local store if they'll stock it.
