I wish that worked for me but I have found that i really need to track and manage my foods in MFP or I have no idea what I'm doing and go way over or under in any category. Emotional eating is another issue I have so this really helps me stay on track.

Not really, I eat 3 meals a day and spread my calories fairly evenly. I've never been an athlete but I'm trying to ramp up my general well-being with some walking/running

Well, I eat proteins set within ketogenic diet guidelines -- between 1.5gm to 2.5 gm/ KG of LBM. I just think i need to make adjustments on days that I burn far greater calories.

And you suggest that most parents feeding their kids crap are willingly poisoning their kids? Of course not! The reality is that parents are often misinformed through all the government campaigning, marketing etc that craftily presents those foods as good choices for their family and downplays the negative health impacts…

OK, back up your argument from the Corn Refiners Association. Yeah, like they won't do anything to make you hate the movie.

For those that say they don't need the government, good for you! But the government has absolutely had an impact on what is available to eat and what our perceptions of "healthy" is. Typical American idealism that you can live on your own island and there is no influence around you and everyone has 'equal opportunity'.…

And then Time Magazine reports on the debunking of fat's affect on heart disease etc -- one of the reasons why we replaced fat calories with carbohydrate calories (primarily in simple carbs or sugars) http://time.com/2863227/ending-the-war-on-fat/ (click on video) The paradigm is shifting in nutrition and it's going to be…

Actually, I don't really see how that correlates. I've lost 8lbs in the last 3 weeks. How does the ticker tell you that?

Good report from a reputable investigative news agency, The Fifth Estate http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/episodes/2013-2014/the-secrets-of-sugar

Oh and big corporations didn't have any influence the food pyramid, and they never gave donations to American Heart Association, and they don't send people to conferences just to heckle scientists in presentations. Get your heads out of the sand people.... Look, I have a friend who works at a large food company (I won't…

Awesome! I've started doing the keto thing now and didn't end up going on the 30 day plan but have been using the keto calculator to get my macros and all is working out well so far! I'm so excited!! Thanks everyone for your input.

I don't buy that the corporation has no culpability when they are willingly presenting and advertising food to consumers they know is addictive and not healthy. This idea that we are all so educated, intelligent and able to make good decisions on our food is just not realistic. Yes, we need to make good choices, but the…

If your family members are children of certain ages, you might have to explain to them HOW to be encouraging to you. Tell them, if you want mom to be happy and healthy, you'd appreciate their positive support and here is what they can say. "way to go mom!", "I believe in you", "you are awesome".... and say the same things…

Have you tested to see if you are in ketosis already? It's not impossible!

It's more an incentive to stop eating fats because of the terrible consequences if you do. I tried it years ago and never will again. Try oozing oil out of your bum!

Awesome!! My goals were to: 1) Walk the dog 2) Clean my house 3) Stay under calories Completed all!

Whether using zucchini or eggplant, sprinkle salt on them and let them sit for 30 minutes. Rinse and you won't have as much moisture coming out in the dish itself.
-
P.S. I don't have any health issues that I know of but I am 41 and I am worried I'm going to see some in the future if I don't get to my ideal healthy weight!
-
Feel free to add. I have 36 lbs left to lose myself!

OK, other than integrating, do I need to have that negative adjustment ok'd?
-
I'd rather have a kind heart and an healthy mind. :)

Plus, drink lots of fluids. If you want to figure out if you are really low carb. Log every food and take your total carbs - fiber= NET CARBS. If you are under 60 NET carb grams a day, you're pretty low carb. Plus I would take a vitamin daily if you are struggling with veges at first but no low carb diet (or any healthy…

I did a Dr. supervised low-carb diet before and it worked. Start with unlimited meat, fowl and fish but no processed meat like hotdogs. No super fatty cuts of meat like ribs. Any type of leafy green you want in ANY quantity (lettuces, chard, kale etc), no dairy, no corn, squash, potato of any kind for the first 2 weeks. NO…

I feel like I'm in the same boat. For the last 3 weeks I have been counting my steps and exercising and eating about 750 calories less than I should be burning -- no weight loss. I also have no thyroid after having it removed several years ago. A couple of years ago I did Dr. Poon's Metabolic diet (very similar to South…
