Thanks for all the advice and feedback. I'm excited for the fall. I'm going to try to do some at home type crossfit WODs, like air squats, burpees, kettlebell swings, dips etc to try to take off these last 20 lbs and feel a little bit more comfortable on my way in. Thanks!

A calorie is a calorie from a pure energy measurement viewpoint. An 'empty calorie' term is often used when people eat 'food' that has no other form of bodily nutrition attached (pure sugar) and is only valuable to give energy but no value in terms of muscle repair, no heart/health protecting vitamins etc. Think a can of…

The one concept I read a long time ago by Tim Ferris in the Four Hour Body that stuck with me is that a dieter that isn't trying to lower their carb intake consciously but is lowering their calorie intake is often lowering their carb intake comparatively to the diet they had previously. That simple carb reduction may be…

I did keto (lost 35 lbs in about 4 months) last year but I also tracked calories and ate about 1500-1800 per day and did moderate exercise (mostly hiking with my dog). Some of it was water but mostly fat and I didn't have the urge to cheat for the entire time... THAT was new for me. In previous weight loss attempts, I…

Hey guys, I'm joining the challenge late but will ante up for 10 lbs by Easter. Hope you all do wonderfully!

Where I live, we just say "F**ckin' eh!"

I tend to find that it also is dependent on the percentages of macros. If I am light on protein (essential) and fat (essential) and heavy on carbs (non-essential), I tend to be hungrier, quicker, even on higher calories.

Thank you!!!

I started with the beginner's routine at aworkoutroutine.com and love it!

And I can't buy too many clothes in sizes in between because my pant size seems to drop so fast I barely get to wear them before they are too big. I gave away 5 full garbage bags full of clothing a couple of weeks ago to a very happy aunt and cousin. I had a large wardrobe waiting for me from years past but now I…

I do it... mostly at thrift shops because it usually saves me big $$ or places I can return for 90 days because I've bought stuff too small and don't like the fit later (i.e. too high-waisted). I love boxing up old clothing and revealing a new wardrobe waiting for me or trying on a jacket and see it progressively get…

Because I am insulin resistant, struggle with central obesity, crave sugars unnaturally, deal with mild PCOS, so I choose to limit my intake of sugar to berries, tomatoes, and avocados. Rest assured, I get plenty of nutrients out of my low starch vege intake. It has helped me tremendously with weight loss and I think it…

I just discovered "MioSport", a small bottle of liquid sold by the drink mixes. It has electrolytes!

I set my macros as a sedentary person and eat those as a minimum. I exercise regularly and use a Fitbit to track the majority of my activity as it is normally step based (walking, jogging, stuff around the house. I eat as many of those activity calories as I feel I need to that day. Some days it's all of them, and some day…

Depends on what you consider a cheat but I once tried a 6 days good, one day cheat method because it worked well for a friend but I found it sent me into a cheating spiral. One day turned into 3 or 5 days and totally derailed me! Since starting a ketogenic diet, I haven't felt the need for cheat days anymore and haven't…

PS. I have a total of about 45 lbs to lose and 25 lbs has come off the first 2 months with no ill side effects. In fact, this is the first time I've lost weight so quickly and effortlessly. I've struggled with midsection obesity, PCOS, gestational diabetes, thyroid removal, and gallbladder surgery and feel amazing now. I…

I'm doing Keto right now and loving it! It's not for everyone but it's safe and very helpful for many. Here is a great documentary recently released on Keto. http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4126228.htm

Use a keto calculator to get your recommended macros. That should get you into ketosis no problem. http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

I'm so happy for you. It's like a throwing a stone in a pond and watching the beautiful ripples. :)

I haven't really noticed a change. I still get the typical bloating and mild cramps. I stay off the scales for a couple days and take the Midol and wait for it to pass.

LOts of responses but remember you ketostix have an expiry date once they've been opened! I basically stopped using them because I keep my carbs low and I'm losing weight just fine.

Bone broth too hits the spot!

I often do club soda and lemon juice(sprinkle half salt for electrolytes). I also use a product that is half coconut milk/ half almond milk and buy a splenda sweetened chai. Works out to 20 cals. I drink coffee, the odd diet pepsi (but trying to ween off) but my trick for water is to make it ICE cold. Warm water sucks!

Thanks! I'll be making this as part of my dinner this eve'. :)

Other sources of potassium include avocados, Windsor "Half Salt", nuts and seeds, brussel sprouts, cheese, broccoli, spinach and tomatoes. Good luck!!

I was just having horrible leg cramps this week and decided to make my own beef bone broth in the slow cooker because I watched a video by one of the leading Keto researchers, Phinney. He mentioned that the Inuit survived long bouts of Ketosis by drinking bone broth. Apparently, a lot of the bone minerals, like potassium…
