  • When I say I don't track - I mean specifically on MFP. I used to but I find that I eat the exact same things almost every day. I may switch it up a little - but I'll check in MFP and then just go on. I eat 1400 calories each day - and I'm usually under and never over. (hence the macro breakdowns.) I have rechecked my…
  • Agreed!! That's the mentality I have had to really wrap my brain around. Just because there is food there - doesn't mean I have to eat it - sometimes now I don't even finish my plate. And that's OK - (what a concept!) LOL Good for you - I wish I didn't own a scale - I am obsessed with my scale. If you feel good, you're not…
  • I follow 80/15/5 and some days I'm spot on and others I'm off +/- a few percentages - I don't sweat it - I go by how I feel. I use ketostix about once a week just to "spot-check" my levels. (I know they aren't perfect - but I'm not doing the blood thing.) :P I found that it took me into the 4th week of eating this way to…
  • Typically if I drink I will have a glass of red wine (Malbec) or a Michelob Ultra and I see no issues (in moderation, of course.) I don't drink a beverage to get drunk. Last weekend, I had some girlfriends visit and we drank a LOT of margarita's by the pool and just enjoyed ourselves. By Monday I had gained 3 lbs and was…
  • I have never seen the egg in bullet proof coffee - how is it? Still have yet to try it - kinda scared of putting butter/coconut oil in my coffee! LOL
  • I use Syntrax Nectar brand shakes - zero carbs, 20g of protein (not sure of the fat content) - I use them as a meal replacement or after a workout. (For example I'll mix the chocolate truffle powder with 1 tbsp of peanut butter *natural* a handfull of clean fresh spinach and unsweetened almond milk with ice in a blender -…
  • I like protein shakes. Syntrax Nectar shakes have very low carbs/sugar and are 20g of protein per scoop. It's whey protein (easily/instantly absorbed). I also like almonds (with some dark chocolate chips thrown in 20 almonds with 1 TBSP of dark chips is a great snack - easy to make up about 20 bags at once to have for a…
  • Look at Keto diets - (low carb, high fat, moderate protein) You would need to probably adjust your macros/calories and track them closely but it can be done. Read about "carb loading" while eating Keto - if you're lifting heavy weight to gain muscle mass this may just be the thing you're looking for. I can post some…
  • Macros are you "Macronutrients" - it's how you know how many calories you eat an how those calories are broken down (%fat, %protein, %carbs, etc.) Typically you would have to calculate your lean body mass (actual weigh minus your body fat) times your activity level. Depending on who you listen to and what your activity…
  • Thank you for these links - I have been following Keto eating for about a week now and I'm always looking for different recipes.

  • I too was in the same boat - I went to my doctor and he has told me to cut the carbs after 3pm daily. So - eat carbs (clean) in the morning/lunch - none for supper. Try that and see if you don't see a difference. Good luck!
  • Definitely! Go Big Orange! ~Cheers
  • Shreveport, Louisiana in the house! ;)
  • It's easier than you think - come here daily, you get support and all the tracking tools you will need to see where you are and how far you have to go (or have gone). Tips to get you there too - it's an amazing little site and best of all it's free! Add me if you want - I'm in Louisiana - I hear ya about the heat! Good…
  • I pack a jar of peanut butter (whipped, peter pan - 1/3 less sugar) - whole gran muffins/bread, apples, grapes, banana's, almonds, chips (multigrain pringles are great). I love peanut butter so it's a perfect staple for me. Then about 2 times per week I bring a left-over from supper.
  • You're moving - that's what matters!! Keep it up, it gets easier and you will get comfortable with what you're doing. Good Luck!!
  • Yes, I would say this is circuit training - unless you choose to log in the weights individually as strength training in your diary. Since you don't see the calories burned logging as strength (and you do burn calories) I enter this as "circuit training - general" for however long I am on the machines. I caution you to not…
  • LMAO!!!!
  • What machines are you doing? Most machines in my gym are weights. I do lift weights and move from machine to machine. I log this as circuit training - general in my exercise log.
  • Exactly. I have just learned about Arctic Zero - I'm going to try it!! It's supposed to be good "ice cream" but very low cal.
  • Congratulations!!! 2 lbs gone! :0) Keep it up, it gets easier to log in and post foods - especially once you have built up your diary with stuff you eat consistently. Welcome! Feel free to add me if you need friends/motivation!
  • I don't have a whole day - I allow myself one cheat meal - usually the same day of the week, not necessarily the same meal. It gives me some freedom, without allowing myself to way over indulge. On those days I make sure I do plenty of cardio so the damage is minimal and mentally I don't feel like I have sabotaged a lot of…
  • My quote is "I only run if I'm being chased." LOL
  • Are you sure your scale isn't broken? 18 inches should equate to more than 3 lbs? While I agree - I don't go by only the scale - but unless you are doing heavy weight training, I find it very hard to believe it's only 3 lbs. Curious....Awesome job BTW.
  • I will forever call them "battle scars!" :0)
  • You could also try using a heart rate monitor and compare the two values. Mine is usually pretty close to the machine and not what MFP says. That's a great calorie burn for 15 mins! WOW!
  • Get you some weights (8-15lbs) to start. There is a whole world of exercises that will open up to you for strength building and body shaping. Bands are good too if you don't care for dumb-bells. Good luck!
  • You're already a winner - you're here and you're doing something! :0)
  • I would have to ask where they are placing this child and what kind of long term solutions are they seeking to reunite and help this family? To just simply remove the child with no plan to educate everyone involved is pointless. I agree with the comments already posted, this family needs help and education, not more stress…
  • Track your diaries here daily - you will be surprised at how easy it is to hold yourself accountable. Make it a point each day to log in, post your food/exercise diary. Make friends (feel free to add me if you like) and share frustrations, successes and anything else you feel like sharing! (Recipes are always great!) LOL…
