  • I'm saying I believe at least part of America's obesity problem has to do with the ridiculously positive perception of desserts and sweets, especially by women. Like I said, I know a lot of girls in their teens or early twenties who basically just eat sweets to meet the majority of the caloric intake. The same girls would…
  • As far as flavor goes, a little bland, but I cooked up a quick dinner of ham, 4 fried egg whites and broccoli. Although it was bland, it was fast and I am way full.
  • Here's a tip: if you want to keep the cost down, chili is very cheap if done right. You can get the higher fat meat and RINSE it after frying it almost done, then add in some herbs (sage, thyme, other "sausage-y" herbs.Minced and rinsed 30% fat beef only has 1 gram of fat more per serving than rinsed 10% fat beef. I don't…
  • I suggest learning to love some high protein food! My favorite thing lately is turkey breast (not the whole giant turkey). You can buy 7-8 lbs of turkey for ~$10. Roast that baby and have easy protein all week. If ya love carbs, throw the turkey on some bread then! Open faced sandwiches only use 1 slice of bread and a…
  • Their coffee is pretty good! The egg McMuffin isn't bad. The way I keep things easy at fast food places is just spend $1-2. You can get a small burger and small fries, or a soda and fries, or two burgers or whatever. Sometimes I only spend a dollar. Either way, limit spending, limits the calories. It doesn't totally work…
  • When making oatmeal with steel cut oats or regular rolled oats, right as you are finishing them, add in as many egg whites as there are servings, and stir really well and quickly so there's no white scrambling up. Then season the oatmeal regularly (I like cinnamon, SG maple syrup, butter, but there are loads of combos).…
  • Sounds good! I'm loving anything with cheese, and the salad sounds good with artichoke hearts :). A yummy breakfast, only bad thing is, lacks protein PB & Choc Oats Steel cut oats 2-3 packs of splenda per medium bowl Pinch of salt Hershey's Unsweetened cocoa powder (generous) PB2 (generous) -230 cals ~10 grams protein
  • Err...fat free olive oil? Isn't that a contradiction, since oil = fat?
  • breakfast: oatmeal lunch: oatmeal snack: oatmeal dinner: oatmeal dessert: oatmeal Okay, I'm kidding! But I did have oatmeal for breakfast...and lunch. But not for dinner! I flavored it with sugar free coffee cream, margarine and sugar free white chocolate pudding mix :D
  • I think the reason people love talking about breakfast is that they are so hungry the night before and wish to fantasize about breakfast, which is what I'm doing right now. I am currently envisioning cheese eggs and bacon, but luckily I make better decisions in the morning for some reason. I always imagine a big breakfast…
  • Yes, carbs alone are not filling for long at all...even with fiber. I recently ran out of my very healthy 45 calorie bread with a good amount of fiber, which I spread PB or jam or butter on for breakfast, but I eat like 4 pieces. So, instead I made a pork chop for breakfast. It was about the same calories, but I was full…
  • Weell, I like peanut butter also. What you could do is warm up the PB so you can more easily spread a small amount onto bread. Or, instead of bread, eat a small amount on celery. That way, sure, you might be eating 2 tbsp, but you will be able to spread it on maybe 4 pieces of celery and have a hearty snack.
  • I like to make "wraps" with lettuce instead of bread. I take two pieces of ham, put a piece of cheese between them, melt it in the oven, then place in lightly salted lettuce leaves and sort of roll it up or if you're not very good at rolling just fold it over like a taco.

  • I wouldn't say never, but not on a regular basis, or not more than a little, these foods usually don't seem worth the calories Edit: I forgot the biggest one of all! ALCOHOL Lattes, mochas, all that stuff Soda Juice Chocolate Milk Deep fried food Cookies Waffle / Pancakes / Cake / Pie Pasta Chips Crackers Doughnuts Candy…
  • Rice crackers (16 for 100 cals) Salad Lean meat Egg whites
  • Okay, thanks guys. I'm definitely thinking I will consider myself lightly active. The extra calories will really help out!
  • I had knee pain for most of my adult life until I ordered arch support inserts. The pain in my knees stopped the day I wore them! This might be your problem too, you never know. I have high archs apparently, which means underpronation, which can lead to knee pain. Weirdly enough, flat feet can also cause knee pain because…

  • I think I will make my goal 10 lbs - I would looove to be 128 by Christmas!
  • I love salad. One thing to make salad better: always season the lettuce with herbs+salt+pepper. 3 tbsp yogurt/cilantro dressing 1/4 cup chili red onion lettuce (any) gouda cheese cumin / salt / pepper
  • I don't think your body can "tell" you anything. It's just a sack of meat and water that you control. I believe you just didn't like your meal. If it upset your stomach, either you got indigestion from grease or something, or it was all psychosomatic.
  • If you get fresh herbs like parsley and cilantro, you can freeze them in ice cube trays! When you need a quick and good dressing, take out an herb cube and put it in like 3/4 a cup of nonfat yogurt. I did with cilantro and yogurt and it was awesome and low cal, plus you get some protein too.
  • Well, honestly, it did come off as bossy and rude. I don't really like bossiness. Still, perhaps she didn't intend to be rude...if that's the case, I apologize! However, bodyweight/2.2lbs does give a reasonable protein goal of 65. I feel confident I could actually eat that much protein. Today for breakfast, I had an egg…
  • First of all, you are a very rude person. You are insinuating I don't know how to take care of myself, which I do. I've lost over 80 lbs and recovered from muscular dystrophy by eating healthy and staying active. Are you insinuating that I am greedy because I was overweight? At 24 BMI, I am in the upper range of normal…
  • Well, I ate the milkshake after work, so it didn't matter much if I felt sluggish. Why are people acting like no one ever eats a milkshake while dieting? The point is, I didn't want baked tilapia after a stressful day, I wanted a milkshake. I get that means my macros weren't ideal for that day, but it's not like an every…
  • I do eat meat, it's just usually a small amount in salad or soup. For example, today I had 5 strips of bacon, but that was only 12.5 grams of protein. I feel kind of greedy if I eat a lot of meat actually. I don't know, and then, if I eat a lot of fat early in the day, I feel sluggish. The milkshake actually had 14 grams…
  • I generally get more like 35-40 grams of protein per day :). I guess that's low, but I don't train or anything, and I really like rice, oatmeal, and sweets a lot. I do think more protein will make me feel fuller, though, but I do eat bread and carby things quite often since they are cheap and filling. I will try to get 40…
  • Also, if you are sore, just take some ibuprofen :). You could try to do some chest exercise though. It seems weird, but if you overwork a muscle, it's like you need to work it the same way again (maybe not quite so much) the next day to get the soreness to go away a little bit.
  • My rule is that I try to avoid going 48 hours without working out. You don't have to unless you get close to two days without exercise.
  • Hi, I also have muscular dystrophy which affects my proximal muscles the most severely. I am 24 and have had it since I was 18. It was very severe and I was much bigger when I was first diagnosed. So, I have lost a lot of weight with this. Also, I don't know if yours is really severe, but mine got to the point of barely…
