  • I use my local recreation center that's built into the town hall. We got a pool a few years ago. It's $60 quarterly, so $20/month. I love it just for the racquetball courts, but there's also lots of hiking trails. We have locker rooms, and I think even a sauna. I hardly branch out though. Everything is included, or you can…
  • My main and favorite form of exercise is racquetball twice a week. I sometimes do calisthenics at home or go for a long walk. If I ever find a good place to hike, I'd love to pick it up again. Other than that I try aerobics classes with my sis-in-law, like spinning and kickboxing.
  • OP, have you tried a higher calorie intake combined with a good exercise routine and high protein intake? I think the results would surprise you. I was eating 1200 calories/day until I got to the last five pounds. It wasn't until I reset to maintenance and was eating more calories that I lost the last of the weight. And…
  • Well your significant other is lucky, but I agree that all women are not unappreciative, just as all men don't work hard like you do. The most my husband ever does is unload the dishwasher maybe once a month. Trust me, I notice it, and he gets a half dozen thank yous with some kisses. If he -really- tried, that'd be a…
  • I agree with what everyone has said so far. You have plenty of good information now. It is possible to be not far from your ideal weight and still have a high body fat %. This is what people call "skinny fat". I was 132 at my top weight, well within a healthy range for my height, and 32% body fat. Now I'm down to 23%, and…
  • Good for you for sticking up for yourself! It's crazy that someone would say that, as if eating healthy is bad for you. :noway: What idiocracy. I wouldn't have had the guts to say anything, but I'd have thought how sad it is that she is clearly putting herself into an early grave.
  • My husband didn't propose. we were just hanging out one day when he looked over and told me he was about ready to buy a ring. Oh well, at least I got to pick my ring out. All he did was pay for it.
  • Oatmeal Peanut Butter Almonds Cashews Sunflower seeds I love crunchy foods, and I'm pretty sure my body is craving fats since I started my high protein/low fat diet.
  • I couldn't even eat 2 fruit without being over on my sugar. If that's the main reason why you're over, don't worry too much.
  • I guess I was a strange kid. Chocolate was my only weakness. I'm not saying I ate really healthy all the time, but my mom never even had to ask me to eat my veggies. I loved broccoli and carrots. She did burn me out on chicken, but I ate it because that was what we were having. No discussion or other choices available.
  • I'm 5'3" and was 125 a couple of months ago. I wore a 7 in juniors and a 6 in womens. However, I'm a pear shape and had to wear bigger sizes for my large hips. :blushing: My body fat was much higher then, at least 27%.
  • I'd say #2 is a BIG reason. As a little lady, I'd had to work out 2 or 3 times harder than you would to lose a pound. Use this to your advantage, because the more you lose, the harder it is to lose.
  • Has anyone made any progress lately? I'm down to around 23%.
  • Just my thinking. A healthier alternative to white rice that will serve your purposes perfectly.
  • Not sure what to say about the weight loss. You are close enough to the normal range to not worry about those last 7 lbs, in my non-medical opinion. I agree with heybales about upping your calorie intake, and as far as your gf and sister, they sound just like my family. It could be that their view of "normal" or even just…
  • My hubby is the stick figure. I told him I'd share my protein powder with him.
  • I'm a petite pear shape. ^^ Most people don't believe me because they equate pear-shaped with being overweight, but my booty is definitely disproportionate. I love my big hips since my chest is non-existent, but I think the biggest difference for me has been exercising. I lost all my extra up top before my hips and thighs…
  • Awesome link! That's so much for sharing. I had to bookmark it.
  • If you do it every day and it is part of your lifestyle, I would not count it. However, I count mine because I clean someone else's house every other week and have sweat pouring down my back when I'm done. I think that should count as exercise, whereas picking around around my own house doesn't count. Decide for yourself…
  • I had just become a 34B when I started this journey. Now I'm down to a 32A and feel like I have nothing. It's embarrassing to think of buying bras in the girls department. :blushing:
  • Wow! I felt like the only woman on the planet who would vomit from my cramps. :frown: So glad it's not completely unheard of. I'm not on any birth control bc I can't take it, unfortunately. If something helped in the past, it may help you again now. Keep trying til you find something that works, or else keep trying to find…
  • My fitness goal right now is to get my body fat down to 20 or 21%. It's already down from 32% when I started a year ago to just 23%. After that, I'll probably try to pick up running or chisel me out some abs. :drinker:
  • I've been on MFP for over a year, and I have taken several breaks when I thought that I had healthy eating under control. I always gained a few pounds before I start logging again. I still go a day or two sometimes when I don't log, but long term not-logging simply doesn't work for me.
  • It's just another fad diet. Try eating solid, healthy food.
  • I'm not sure how accurate the calorie burn estimate is because I don't have a HRM. I just go by this site, as it's burn is lower than Endo's. I do love how accurate the gps is. I've tried other apps before, and they just don't compare.
  • At 5'5" and only 22% body fat, unless you get super lean (like fitness model level or less), your goal weight doesn't seem very realistic. Assuming that you don't lose any lean body mass. You are probably gaining muscle. I personally think it would be more beneficial for you to measure in inches than in weight.
  • I'm no expert, since I'm currently trying to get rid of my tummy myself, but I have always heard your stomach is the last place you lose fat. It's more about muscle mass/body fat % than "size." (I'm proof of this, since I'm "skinny fat.") I've also heard that abdominal fat deposits have more to do w/diet than exercise.…
  • I'm a pretty small woman, and I'm currently maintaining at 1700. And I agree with who said that there is probably no magic number for everyone. How active you are plays a big role as well.
  • Um, well, no, not really, in all honesty. We play D&D together with his friends on rare occasions, but we do talk a lot. We're best friends for sure.
  • I'm not a gamer, although I will give Guild Wars 2 a try when they finally release it. Video games or any obsession/addiction makes it more difficult to maintain a healthy relationship, and it's a sore spot for us. I'm just glad we don't have children. He plays his games, and I read my books.
