Aaaaand... this is why my husband and I don't have tv. Oh wait, he turns his video games up... :grumble:

    Oh videos games....

    relationship killer right there.

Not always :) I have SO much fun playing VGs with my boyfriend - always in co-op mode. We make a pretty good team in any game we play :)

I'm not a gamer, although I will give Guild Wars 2 a try when they finally release it. Video games or any obsession/addiction makes it more difficult to maintain a healthy relationship, and it's a sore spot for us. I'm just glad we don't have children. He plays his games, and I read my books.

How long into your marriage did it take your wife to realize that you sometimes turn the volume on the TV up as she is talking?

lmao the question is how high did it get before she slaps you silly

    Amen.

I never do the "turn the volume thing up" when she's talking too much. However, I have this hardcoded ability to stop listening after about 2 minutes and I don't even realize she's talking or that I'm not listening.

It gets worse if it's nagging.

This ... I can tune anything out now. Its like a super power. I do love the TiVo though sometimes I get distracted and have to pause to listen.

I think if we knew that was a reward we'd listen a lot more intently.

I've just learned how to turn her voice to "mute" in my head. Like last night, she tried to interrupt me three times while watching Walking Dead. First, that was rude of her  , and second, I ended up pausing the show because eventually she made it clear she was talking to me. :ohwell:

why was she talking while making you a sandwich anyway...Geez

One time my wife was babbling on and on about something I probably found very boring. I think she new I was drifting off but then I just suddenly asked her, "Shouldn't you be making me a sammich?". Luckily she cracked up instead of cracking me in the head.

Um, well, no, not really, in all honesty. We play D&D together with his friends on rare occasions, but we do talk a lot. We're best friends for sure.

If my man ever did that to me, he *might* be able to watch TV again once his eyes heal...luckily we respect each other enough to chat during commercials if either of us are into a particular show.

The TV is very rarely on when we're together. Plus, my wife is generally a woman of few words.

Married for almost 20 years… if my wife has something to say ..odds are I better listen. She doesn’t say much, but when she does ..i need to pay attention. For that matter, …I want to know how you even got the remote!

We have a mutual "STFU or you die" policy when we're watching something. Even if we want to comment on the shows, it either waits 'til the commercial break or it gets paused.
