  • This is the second time you've posted that there are other fish better than tilapia for this recipe, but I don't see you posting what you think better alternatives are. What, in your opinion, is a better fish to make in this recipe?
  • I usually have Overnight Oats during the week and eggs on the weekend, but I had to jet off to an 8:00 massage appointment, so I drank a weight loss shake in the car today.
  • Yes! Estimations are fine when they're the best you can do, but to truly know your calorie in take, you need to measure. It amazes me how often the measured (cups/tablespoons) serving size is either considerably more or less than the weight (grams/oz) serving size.
  • There is now a Fitbit that has a HR monitor. I wear the Charge HR and it was reading my HR the same as my dr's office read it, so it seems pretty accurate.
  • A lot of fast food restaurants have apps you can get on your phone and see the nutritional info. If you know ahead of time where you're going, you can look it up on the app or online to see what the best options are.
  • If it's off by that much, I'd say your scale sucks (sorry, your word, not mine). :) Mine is usually only off by .2 lb.
  • Has he tried any overnight oats? There are a ton of flavor combination recipes out there if you just Google "overnight oats." You prep ahead of time and keep them in the fridge, so they'd be ready for him to warm up whenever he wanted them.
  • Why do people have to be sarcastic, snarky, and rude? If you don't have something helpful to say, just don't say anything. If you need more lean protein, lean beef, chicken, fish, pork, eggs are all good. http://www.rd.com/slideshows/lean-protein-healthy-ways-to-eat-more/#slideshow=slide1
  • You could check the public library to see what they have that would add a little variety. Also, I don't know which videos you have, but I just saw today a couple of new LS DVDs at Sam's Club. One was to Party Music, one was to Radio Hits. Those sounded interesting to me. If I like the music, I don't get bored as easily.
  • I agree with the others that food related goals are counter productive. There are ways to work those foods into your regular diet, and you should not be withholding foods you love if you want to stick with this for life. Pamper yourself or go buy that cute outfit in a new size as a reward for your work...don't make…
  • I'd recommend getting the one that does what you want it to do. I've had the One and the Flex and just got the Charge HR because I went on some meds that can raise my HR and I wanted to be able to monitor that. Between the One and the Flex, I like the Flex better probably because it stays on your wrist and you can shower…

  • I'm certainly no expert, but I have heard that losing slowly helps and that drinking lots of water while losing helps with skin elasticity so can help skin shrink up better.
  • Yes!
  • I disagree. I burn more calories when I walk outside rather than on a treadmill. It helps that I live in a very hilly neighborhood, so the incline is built in, and I feel like I can go longer when it's a little bit of uphill and then a little bit of downhill, instead of constant uphill for 30 min. For me, it's also about…
  • On MFP, go to Apps and choose to connect your Fitbit account. :) Good luck! I've had a Fitbit forever (originally the one before the One, then the One, then the Flex, and I just got my Charge HR last night).
  • This was my thought as well.
  • Mine is open to friends only. Feel free to add me.
  • @gothyfaery, I'm just beginning to research this, so someone else may know more than me about the matter, but I recently found out that calcium is fat-soluble, meaning that when there is little/no fat in your milk/yogurt, your body is absorbing little/no calcium from that food. I'm slowly working my way from fat free up.…
  • Agreeing with previous posters. Barcode scanner is a great time saver WHEN IT'S RIGHT. That being said, I scan the barcode on my milk and it comes up 10 calories higher than the label right there on the jug. Also, as handy as it is, I am trying to cut back on the prepackaged (and barcoded) items in favor for more fresh…
  • Anyone can feel free to add me. My diary is open to friends.
  • I lost 55 (out of the about 75 I needed to lose) in 2006-2007, met my husband but only regained 10 then maintained. Mom died two months before my wedding, and I gained it all back after than. Back on the journey to lose about 90 this time. Feel free to add me. I keep my journal open to friends.
  • I'm on a path to lose 90. Feel free to add me if you want. I keep my diary open to friends.
  • Sadly, you can't lose belly fat faster... :(
  • Greek yogurt (Dannon Light and Fit is considerably lower in sugar than most others), light string cheese, veggies, air popped or 94% fat free popcorn. I only use the sugar report on MFP to make me aware of how much added sugar I'm consuming. I don't worry if it's coming from fruit or other natural sources, but it did open…
  • I suppose it's all about the long term goal...are you here to lose weight or are you here to be healthy? As handy as the barcode scanner is (and I'll admit I use it relatively frequently), every time I use it, I think that I should be eating fewer foods that are prepackaged if I want to be healthier (not to say all…
  • Thanks! I was not aware of that group, though I've heard the expression before (which is what made me think to try it).
  • While I agree whole-heartedly with what everyone else has said about the importance of measuring for accurately counting calories, a good place for you to start might be with just writing down what you eat. That act alone might bring more awareness to you of what you are eating, how often, etc. For me, counting calories is…
  • Skinnytaste.com is my go-to for all things healthy and delicious! She has breakfast, crockpot, dessert, apps, beef, chicken, etc. She blogs and will tell you a lot of the time what her process was, so I know that she often reworks a recipe many times before she considers it tasty enough to post. If it's just the sweets…
  • Give it a try and see what happens. I had mine set to sedentary (which put me at 1200) but was earning 500+ from my Fitbit that I was counting as optional exercise calories and not using. My weight loss stalled after 4 lbs. When I changed my settings to Lightly Active since I'm on my feet all day, it took me to 1500 and I…
  • Feel free to add me! My diary is open to friends, and I love to look at other people's diaries as well for ideas and to help when needed.
