  • When I was a size 18, it took about 25 lbs before I could fit into a 16. Another time, I kept my loose clothes so long that I completely skipped 16...wore my 18s until they were falling off, and when I went to get new pants, I was able to fit into a 14. I feel you on how clothes fit everyone differently. I carry my weight…
  • A friend of mine was just telling me about her parents and brother having success with this. I think they are actually participating at the Anschutz Medical Center. When I out it together that Extreme Weight Loss is using this system, I just bought the book. Looking forward to starting it. Thanks for sharing your…
  • I don't pay much attention to the sugars in natural sources, but pay attention to added sugars. I switched to a lower sugar flavored yogurt when the sugar in my old yogurt (Chobani, Fage) contained almost 1/2 of my recommended daily sugar. I don't care if I go over my sugar and most of it is from fruit, but it helps me…
  • If it was over every time one of us had an off day, we'd all be screwed. Log it, move on, and do better tomorrow. And you likely can't won't live every day of the rest of your life within strict calorie budgets, so one day in the scheme of things won't hurt you. It's when every day is like that that hurts you.
  • You might need a better pair of shoes. Stores that specialize in running shoes are often good about being able to help fit you in the best shoe for your foot and running movement. If that doesn't help, you might need to see a doctor. A friend of mine ended up with plantar fasciitis when she started running regularly.…
  • Haven't tried it yet, but have heard many that like it. What recipe did you use for the crust? Then just top as usual?

  • Not true...there is a place in the settings on the app where you can set it to send you reminders if you haven't entered certain things by a certain time. It's totally personal settings, though, so some people don't get them, others choose to. Not sure why OP would get one if he hadn't set it up, but they can, in fact,…
  • I would start with their recommendation for daily calorie goal and a recommendation for macro goals. Also for food/recipe ideas to help you meet their recommendations.
  • I like the Skinny Cow chocolates...portion control is key for me. I also like the Healthy Choice fudge bars. Both are a good "fix" when I want something chocolate.
  • Google "Skinny Ms Slow Cooker" and Skinnytaste.com had a crock pot section/filter.
  • It might not be what you meant, but I think the first problem is thinking you need to be "full" all day. The best thing I ever did to eat less was start measuring out portions. One portion of a snack or one portion of a meat and veggie at meal time is usually enough to keep me satisfied. I don't eat until I'm full anymore,…
  • Nearly anything prepackaged and convenient is going to be high in sodium, so although it's not convenient, I'd recommend backing off of the convenience items if you're really worried about sodium. Greek yogurt is a great source of low fat, low sodium, and high protein. Just be careful, lots of them are loaded with added…

  • For me it depends on how the dish is cooked...a lot of times for soups, I'll use a ladle and figure out how many scoops there are, a veggie dish in a casserole dish, I'll eyeball the servings (can I cut it 3x4 for 12?, or 3x3 for 9?, etc). Other times I will literally weigh it to find out how many grams/oz. the whole thing…
  • This sounds like total BS to me! They might be able to require you to be at the lunch (like they could a meeting), but they can't dictate what you eat. I'd tell your boss again that you will bring your own lunch to the gathering and there is no need for them to spend money on a meal you don't need. If he insists, maybe…
  • I like the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds series. She incorporates other kinds of moves (side steps/kicks, kick boxing, etc.) so that your whole body is involved. It's not super intense, but gets my HR up pretty good.
  • It is not recommended (by MFP or any other dietician/nutritionist I've known) to eat less than 1200 calories. If you're getting this message frequently, then you are likely eating less than 1200 calories too often. The main reason, as I've read it, is that it is very difficult to get the minimum amounts of carbs, fat, and…
  • I also have only had sporadic issues...never more than a couple of attempts. Usually when I try again a couple hours later it syncs.
  • I highly recommend weighing instead. Measuring is better than nothing, but often the measurement given in a serving size is quite a bit off from the weight given for the serving size. Be sure you're drinking plenty of water, too. That can aid in weight loss, especially if you eat a lot of high sodium foods.
  • I did used to change it to see how many fewer calories I should be eating on the weekends if/when I'm less active. I've had a Fitbit for awhile and just recently found the "negative adjustment" feature, which automatically deducts calories in the morning and adds them back as I'm more active.
  • I second this! Dannon Light and Fit also has considerably less added sugar than any other I have found.
  • Well, there is a fair about of willpower involved in anything you try. If weight loss was easy, the whole world would be a healthy weight. Darn near everything will work if you work it. There are just some things that are easier to work and stick to than others. Nothing will work if you don't have the motivation to put…
  • ^^These^^ It's all about the calories. If you work in foods you enjoy in moderation it's easier to stick to a healthier eating life style. Of course, there are days when there's a special event, you eat out, or some otherwise higher-than-usual calories are eaten, but it's all about moderation. I go crazy if I try to cut…
  • I only find it a burden when I'm eating out or at a party where it's hard to know *exactly* what's in the food (or what brand, etc.) and can't measure. Estimating everything can sometimes be overwhelming. Otherwise, when I'm at home, I think tracking is quite easy. The barcode scanner on many foods makes it a piece of…
  • I believe your calorie goal only changes with every 10 lbs. you lose. I read this weekend that there was a known glitch (people setting up accounts were getting goals significantly lower than 1200-the minimum)...it could possibly have something to do with that, though it's not changing your goal by a significant amount.
  • ..and this frustrates you?
