There's a lot of core involved in yoga...you could see if Netflix has anything to stream, or check your local library for DVDs to borrow.

I agree with this...I lost 55 lbs on WW in 2006-2007, but when I rejoined the program had changed and for whatever reasons, it didn't work for me the same way. My mother in law still does WW whenever she wants to lose weight for a vacation. She finds "low point" foods that she loves that really don't have a ton of…

I've been there! The whole "those 13 lbs. are going to be so hard to lose again, why bother?' trap is easy to fall into. BUT having lost 55 lbs. before and having gained it all back plus more, it is so much easier to lose the 13 again and then some than to let it go and have to lose the 44 again and then some. You've done…

I weigh nearly daily, but only record when it's a new low. Mostly I watch for trends...how did eating out affect my weight, am I a few days away from my period, etc.

Start small...start tracking what you eat (measuring helps a lot, so I recommend you start doing that sooner rather than later). It will make you more aware of the calories that are in your normal foods and help you know where and how you can make changes. I always recommend skinnytaste.com for healthy recipes. Her recipes…

What do you do for a job? If you sit a lot, you could get a balance ball chair. I find that if I don't use the back rest (obviously) and lift my feet off the floor, my core is engaged in trying to keep me balanced and upright and you don't have to worry about if you're doing it right or tightening the right muscles.

I think it's the self conscious part of us that assumes the worst when people make comments, even positive ones. I just have to remind myself that most of the time people are wanting to compliment and encourage and they don't mean anything negative by it. I also take it as an affirmation that all of my hard work is paying…

^^This^^ Generally speaking, whenever I eat at a restaurant the sodium is high.

My diary is open to friends. Feel free to request me.

Unless there is a glitch occurring, MFP did not set your calories that low. They have a 1200 calorie minimum. I'd recommend trying to reset your goals in you settings (and being honest about your daily activity level) and see if anything changes. When I said I am sedentary (which I'm not as a teacher) it said 1200, and I…

I'm in the middle of reading Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst about learning to crave God, not food, to grow closer to Him to fill the need rather than food. It's about her own weight loss journey and how she drew closer to God during it. Has anyone else read it? I'm only a couple of chapters in.

My diary is open if you want to friend me. If you need some inspiration about what to eat or cook, I always recommend checking out skinnytaste.com. She has a treasure trove of healthy and delicious recipes. If you scroll down a little bit, she has a list of links that will sort her recipes by what you're looking for…

To each their own. I've gone down the Slim Fast and frozen diet meal road and ended up right back where I started. First of all, there are so many preservatives and sodium. That being said, I still do usually keep a box of Slim Fast shakes in my closet for the mornings when I'm running late. It's a quick, relatively…

I love that you set a slow and steady realistic goal. I think a lot of people plan/want to lose weight quickly, and when it doesn't happen as fast as they want they get discouraged and quit. Best wishes!

I'm happy to try to help if there are specific questions you have. I've used my fitness pal on and off for about five years. It truly is an amazing tool. Just enter your info and MFP will tell you how much you should be eating. Just enter what you eat (weigh as much as you can and estimate the rest) and try to stay within…

I'm not sure how it would affect men, but I read that it's even not recommended for women trying to conceive because it can impact hormone levels.

I weight nearly daily, with the understanding that it's going to fluctuate. I only record when I hit a new low, but pay attention to how long between one low and the next. It helps me know when eating out (too much sodium?) is affecting my weight, when I'm about to start, etc.

This blog from MFP just came up on my Facebook feed. You might possibly find some causes here... https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/5-unusual-reasons-youre-not-losing-weight/?utm_source=mfp&utm_medium=Facebook

I second skinnytaste.com! Her recipes are amazing!
She sites research. Fails to provide links to said research.
She does not cite research, just tells OP to do research. cite sīt/Submit verb 1. quote (a passage, book, or author) as evidence for or justification of an argument or statement, especially in a scholarly work.

If you're only eating 1000 calories AND burning an additional 300, my money is on not eating enough. I have never experienced weight GAIN from not eating enough, but I have certainly experienced not losing. In my own experience, when I was eating 1200 calories (and on my feet all day as a teacher) my weight loss stalled…

If they have it, check out if they have nutritional info. online. It's so nice when places do that so that you can look ahead of time and find out what the best options are, or know if you should bring half of what you really want home for later.

Me too!

That must be a bug because MFP will never tell you to eat less than 1200.

MFP (obviously!) Fitbit RunKeeper

You might find the Fitbit One better for your needs. It clips to your waist band, pocket, or even your bra.

I don't understand what you're meaning in terms of alternative foods for students, but will be happy to make suggestions if you can clarify your situation and what you're meaning. The general recommendation for water is 64 oz. a day (8 8oz glasses), but I've heard that it's more helpful if you drink half of your weight…

I enter EVERY recipe into the recipe builder exactly the way I made it, because even different brands or variations of the same item can have differences (Swanson vs. generic broth, regular vs. low sodium broth, Campbell's cream of chicken vs. the Healthy Request vs. the 98% fat free)...

Haha! :D (they really need a "like" button.)
