  • When I had my slipped disc, the Chiropractor gave me specific exercises to do to help strengthen my back. However, I found placing a cold pack on the affected area for 20 minutes at a time, throughout the day, dramatically alleviated the pain. Ironically, a strong stomach keeps the back strong too, but of course, until…
  • Because those two Beths were not the correct person.
  • I am asking where the time was on the results, how many more times must I say that. The times the OP stated were not on the official results page. I don't know how results of races work in the US, but in the UK, they are on the internet for all to see, they are made public and two girls running at 2:10 are not on the…
  • NHo I was not insinuating YOU were complacent, I am saying many are. The OP has not been back for a few days, I posted my question and then as people were replying to my post, I was actually quoting and answering them. People were suggesting who it may have been in the results, but those same results would not have fitted…
  • It would be good if such a plan did work, I have suspicions it is being embellished however. In other words, nomatter whether it were to work or not, he would say it was doing good just to save face - this comes across when he spoke of that HM, the time and how the two girls ran the event. Hoping you see my point now, I…
  • You don't get it do you..... me questioning his daughter's HM time was NOT to shame him, embarrass him or anything of the sort. He posted her time, I went onto the Mablethorpe HM results page to have a look, could not find such a result as he has spoken of, THAT was when I started to question the validity of his statement…
  • So nobody is allowed to ask the OP an question then about something he wrote???? Since when did that ruling come in? Wow there's a lesson to learn eh, take everything as gospel at face value, sod the fact it may be dangerous.
  • The internet has always been that way, always will be, so what. The time of 2:10 did not exist, why are you so intent of disproving what I am doing, I am just after confirmation, you however, are trying to detract.
  • He has neve4r answered me from the very beginning, therefore, I do not expect anything further anyway. He said the HM time, nobody asked and then he said they never broke a sweat and chatted all the way around the run. Look, if you are going to come up with facts and figures, it is a good idea to make sure they are…
  • No, the chip times were 2:24.39 and 2:24.40
  • I find the whole damn scenerio leaves a sour taste in my mouth, you are not concerned that somebody is lying on a time and saying somebody did something they didn't then? Why not just admit the true time rather than embellish everything? Verification of a race time when it ties in with a dangerous training plan is very…
  • Is there anything we can eat nowadays without people telling us it is bad for us. Going back to eating my salmon sandwiches or cheese sandwiches daily, like I have done for years. Why? because it is in my packed lunch.
  • That is what I looked at and it is a far cry from a 2:10 as stated by the OP isn't it.
  • Exactly, this is why this thread is not true re the title of it. This makes the whole "do this training schedule to go from 5k jogger to ultra runner in 14 weeks" misinforming and dangerous.
  • I am looking for credibility, the results show no such runner running under 2:10. After all, running in 2:10 and talking all the way round and not breaking a sweat would be impressive, therefore some confirmation within the times would be great.
  • Elizabeth Harkness is not a beginner runner, she ran in the Run to the Beat in 2011 therefore, she is not a beginner as the OP is implying in this thread, yes or no? If the answer is no, then this thread is not true. Besides which Elizabeth Harkness' time ab Mablethorpe is 2:06.33 - the OP said 2:10, four minutes…
  • Well hopefully the OP will enlighten us :)
  • Ahh that's ok then, whereabouts on the results is she? Only cannot see her name there: http://www.mablethorpemarathon.com/?page_id=236
  • No, I tend to steer clear too, I just cannot stand MacDonalds. BurgerKing do nothing for me at all. I like Wimpy but the last time had one of those was about a year ago. KFC although tasty, I can take it or leave it. The only fast food I do enjoy is fish and chips, but even that is a rare occurrence. Pizza from a takeaway…
  • Basically they were helluva lot more active. You are correct re sitting at computers at home etc, that definitely doesn't help! There were not half as many fast-food places about from what I remember either, meaning people didn't have as much change of getting that extra burger or hotdog or kebab as they can do now and…
  • I used to run on the treadmill all the time, it has only been during the last 20 months that I have trained consistently outside on the roads since I started running longer distances. The treadmill is completely different I found, as a comparison, my best 5k time outdoors is 25:34 but on the treadmill is it 21:42 - massive…
  • You presume everybody on 1200 are starving themselves, only ever worry about your own calorie intake, because that is the only body you possess and the only one you need worry about. It depends on what the person on 1200 eats, not how much and no, not everybody on 1200 are starving by any means, I can vouch for that 100%.…
  • Fantastic achievement, very well done indeed! I have a feeling it won't be your last lol x
  • All of the calculators are estimations, none of them can be taken literally to the calorie I don't care what anybody says. For an idea, I put my own details in and came up with a figure around 2100 mark which is ridiculous because if I do that I will put weight back on. Just be careful and keep a watch on your intake and…
  • ahh thanks! I have bought a couple of energy gels which I am going to experiment with and try out during a 10k race tomorrow. I don't think it is advisable for me to try something too different before the HM, God knows what I might end up doing LOL!
  • Regarding the point, "can other people smell this on somebody else", I was standing, spectating at a half marathon run a couple of years ago and as the runners ran past, one particular runner had a strong smell of amonia emanating from their body. I wondered how they were feeling, because they still had three miles to go…
  • Get yourself some thermal running clothes, gloves and a woolen hat. If the weather turns really, really cold, wear the thermal stuff with a tracksuit on top. Nothing worse than being so cold, you start to dread going out training!
  • Eh? Why wait. Just start training and if you finish that training program weeks before the event, just continue training until the event and then after the event, continue training for your next race.
  • If you really want to include those, change your setting to light activity and do not put those activites in you exercise diary.
  • Are people talking about thighs rubbing so that they become sore here?
