You know, from what I've heard, yogurt with active cultures is an effective treatment for yeast infections... taken internally... and I don't mean by mouth. LOL

I love butter and think margarine is poison. This article, though, is a total crock. I do not refrigerate butter. It does not rot or get eaten by fruit flies either. Fruit flies eat fruit... not fat. Duh.

I'm 5'4" and 162. I wear somewhere in the range of 8(dress) 10/12(pants). I have kind of an oddly shaped body so what fits is kinda random, When I was 145 I was easily getting into size 8 pants. I don't recall ever being able wearing a size 6.

After. Assuming your meal is composed of fats and proteins, eating the carbs after will more likely keep your blood sugar from spiking and slow the insulin response.

Vitamin B-2 turns your pee bright yellow in case anyone's interested.

I'm so with you. Really ugly fight with the BF today and I'm up writing a talk for a totally pointless meeting tomorrow in the middle of the night. You just gotta believe tomorrow's gonna be better.

type "low-carb recipes" into google. Here's a great one though: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html

Thanks so much for your replies. It's definitely nice to hear someone educated in these matters not pushing an agenda. I really don't know what to think about this stuff. I don't buy organic, I don't trust those people either! If I had the income, I'd be eating a lot more grass fed beef, though. I do know that prescription…

I'm worried and I know I am not the only one. From my understanding Roundup ready GMO's were produced to withstand more herbicides (the Roundup). So yeah, less pesticide, way more herbicide. An herbicide that to my understanding is an endocrine disruptor/estrogen mimic. "there is no evidence that GMO has any adverse…

"I actually thought about this and this website like this has the potential to address this. Think about the large number of people logging in what they eat, what their weight is and what results you get. I think this has the opportunity to get much better data than most scientific studies have. We should email the owner…

" superstition about things like high fructose corn syrup" High fructose corn syrup can be produced from genetically modified corn. We really have no idea how genetically modified produce can affect us since no real thorough testing is required by the FDA. I am no expert in this issue and really have no idea what to think,…

I always hated beets. Now I love them *FRESH*. I had never had a fresh beet, only canned, 'til I was in my late 20's

I have hypoglycemia (self-diagnosed). I cannot eat sugar especially when I am hungry. The only thing that I have found so far to keep it under control is to follow a low-carb diet. Also, I need to have something fibrous with fat and protein to keep my blood stable (to feel hunger like normal people, without the…

I'm a scientist. I have to say as a non-medical doctor the medical community lets us down. It's recommendations are very often not based on good science especially in the realm of nutrition. You clearly don't need a PhD to pick up on this. Medical 'science' fails people all the time. And when it does they turn to whatever…

Agreed!! As a physician I am dismayed at what I read on these forums and the 'advice' that people give each other that borderlines on practicing medicine without a license which is even more dangerous than misquoting Dr. Atkins cause of death. I'm almost to the point of trying to dispel certain myths as it is just too…

It's sooooo annoying that this myth has to be cleared up every time Atkin's comes up. It would be ever so nice if people who don't actually know anything (hearsay doesn't count) about a topic, would stop chiming in.

Depends on the item. Different types of produce have different methods. Just use google. For salad greens I put a slightly moistened paper towel in the storage bag and squeeze out the air. They stay really fresh like that for over a week.

I've done it and it tastes fine.

For reference, a dime weighs (actually has a mass of) about a gram. There are ~454 grams in a pound. An 8oz candy bar is 454/2~228 grams. So with this info off the top of my head I will guess that a Slim Jim (beef jerky thing) weighs 1/3 of a candy bar. Then the Slim Jim would weigh 228/3~76 grams. Edit: Just checked in…

Yeah the chances of you having a parasitic infection are infinitesimally small and you don't want to take medication for something you don't have as the side effects could be devastating at worst. But here's some food for thought: http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/04/goodparasites/

Type "how to take body measurements" into google.

The brain does use ketones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketone_bodies

It's absolutely not accurate.

Yes! And it tastes like crap. Just as good? How could someone with taste buds say that?

Proteins are proven to satiate over the long term. Try to replace carbs with more protein (and even some fats). And definitely drink plenty of water.

Pretty much everyone is unlucky in love. The most beautiful people, actors and models, seem to be unluckiest of all. How many celebrities maintain long term relationships? Undoubtedly, even less than normal people. It only take ONE time to get it right. Do you know what I mean? The day you meet the one, that is day this…
