  • Ditto, I'm going through trying to change my habits and lifestyle and would love some more friends who share the same mindset!
  • Yogurt Oatmeal Kale I want to like Kale so badly, though.
  • Chicken and more chicken. Lots of chicken. Watermelon, peaches, or whatever fruit is in season Carrots Yum. I want all three of those pretty much all the time.
  • Agreed on the fruit juice/carbonated water tip. For a while, when I wanted something other than water that's I what I would do. Or simply do a bit of apple juice and ice water -- if it affects you the way it did me, you'll start to find lots of things are way too sweet the way they are made. For energy or if I was craving…
  • Some people can eat anything they like and do it in moderation, but for me I had to ban myself from mcdonald's. Generally it was never good for me, but I an eat too much without thought there. Cut out soda too, but if I really want one really bad, I get one (1) and make it work in my budget. Much better control with those…
  • I was gonna say was fatdoob did in a nutshell, however he already covered it. My weight fluctuates a lot in a day. I am by no means an expert, so you can take my advice or leave it, but I did a lot of homework with this same issue and it helped my understanding a lot! If you have to weigh yourself every morning, some…
  • Hi! The people here are pretty great, in my experience. Fantastic support system! And there's always at least one person willing to give advice or motivation just when you need it. I'll fr you, if you don't mind :) Spending too much time on tumblr might as well be my job description. Love/hate relationship with that...…
  • It's easier to stick to things in the long run if you allow yourself to have what you want, in moderation, like a few people have said.. but I definitely get not being able to stop at that. I have that problem with some things, so I avoid them. For a dinner when craving pizza, I do what everyone else is saying and make…
  • Thanks for all of the replies! A lot of good information.
  • Any idea of a particular food being avoided like the plague, but especially carbs and sugar. Certain people do what works for them, but claiming that I can't eat carbs and lose weight drives me insane. And not eating past a certain time. Ick.
  • Of course! It makes me sad you even felt you had to ask this. Be nice, never feel entitled to anything of hers, and shine your personality through (well, unfortunately some people's personalities are rude and jerkish, so don't be that). The right one won't care about fat or anything else, really.
  • Watching chopped and looking through the food posts here. Making myself hungry, so I'll stop I think! Getting ready to go look for a "ghost light" with some friends... >_>
  • WHY did I come to this thread? I wasn't hungry before, but now I want to cook a full 4 course meal.
  • 1. Actually try in college, but in animation instead of graphic design - instead of doing nothing and creating a huge debt to start off terrible credit. This stuff will affect you in the future! 2. Pay attention to what you put into your body, especially when you come home for the day, and catch that unhealthy relationship…
  • Definitely never too late! Some people can do without logging, but especially when you're not very far in, it helps immensely. If you're stomach is growling like that constantly, try more protein and fiber throughout the day (when you're logging consistently it will be easier to determine what you should have more of). If…
  • I feel like I've gone through something traumatic and life shattering to the MFP community after taking days to keep up with reading all of the posts from the first one, finding it gone when I opened the tab today, and then magically finding the new one. Phew.
  • Definitely start logging, if you have issues with your weight and using MFP to help, logging is the most important step and it will show you perhaps why you're so hungry! So if you're not logging, what kind of eating habits are you sticking to?
  • Woah, most spaghetti/pasta I've seen (even store brands, not healthy kind) are ~200 calories per cooked cup. (a single serving is 2 oz dry = roughly a cup cooked), so I think 800 calories may be wrong... unless other things are in play we don't know about. But that's as far as I go with advice here, everyone else has the…
  • The sexy pants link really turned on a light bulb for me when I joined, and it made everything so much easier and more simplified than what every one else was telling me. Go read that! You won't be disappointed.
  • Gave up soda (alongside the healthier food) and lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks! Also slowly decreased the sugar I'd have in my tea, I'm now down to about 1/3 what i'd usually use, and anyone else's tea is always too sweet for me. Also, portioning things beforehand. Good stuff. Keeps you aware of how many portions you're eating.
  • Regret is a strong term, but any time I have a sausage mcmuffin (those things are addictive, they have to be) I wonder why I put my stomach, health, and my calorie budget through so much trouble for that.
  • Oh, yeah, definitely normal, my calculations were somewhere close to 150 oz (almost 19 cups!) a day. Since I drink a lot of water anyway (like a fish seriously), I usually do around 120 but 140 proves to be a challenge some days!
  • Anxiety is the worst. When you've got it bad, and had already been in a routine where to fight it you eat (whether or not that really fixes anything - usually no). I understand, and I think it's normal myself. While I haven't been here long (a month), I think the best thing you can do is realize you are doing well, you are…
  • Thanks for the ideas! I love seafood personally, but she is iffy to try. Maybe I can sneak it past with some of that marinade. Sounds great.
  • I crave a sausage mcmuffin. That is the weirdest but strongest craving ever, at 370 calories a sandwich (and usually when my logging day is almost over). And there are McDonalds' everywhere.
  • This place is awesome when it comes to the support system. Friends every where! Congrats on starting down a healthier path, whatever that may be for you :) I'll add you. Anyone else can add me too!
  • For the longest time I would pretty much only drink bottled Kroger brand water, it tasted best to me. Which is funny because it's super cheap! But, I realized it was getting expensive and not great for the earth. But our tap tastes gross! So we bought some Brita filter water bottles and I love them. Take them everywhere.…
  • Hi! I started out at almost 300 pounds, 120 pounds to lose (for my first goal), and I've lost about 19 so far! Feel free to add me, you'll be surprised at the motivation people on here can bring. Congrats on the loss so far :)
  • I think that there are bad days and pitfalls for every one, no matter how much they have to lose. But, I have about the same amount to lose as you. Luckily I went into it knowing it would be a long process, and I would have to be patient and diligent if I ever wanted to see what I wanted to see. It looks like you might've…
  • Wasabi roasted seaweed. They're only 60 calories a pack and super delicious. Pomegranate Seeds (the easier - and lazier- way to do things) Watermelon, if I'm there. It's cheaper sometimes elsewhere but really good here Flax meal and chia seeds Looking at these lists I'm seeing a bunch of new reasons to go Trader Joe's.…
