  • I've heard a lot about drinking water lately. Drink a glass before you eat so you eat less (for those dieting), if you're thirsty you're already dehydrated, on and on. I really don't think there's a good or bad time to drink water. I just keep it handy to remind myself to drink more of it.
  • If I'm having a chicken breast with it, I'll set my broccoli in the steamer then set a thin chicken breast on top seasoned with Mrs dash. I also mix it with other veggies: cauliflower, carrots, or add it chopped to lightly seasoned rice. A little cheese always helps but check your labels.
  • I have issues nibbling while cooking, and since I have a concentration on less sodium and calories for my diet I have a separate meal than the kids most days (not always) so I eat first. As far as grabbing snacks like you said, maybe simply reminding yourself "this is for the kids" will help you not grab some for yourself.

  • Crush and Hawaiian Punch make little singles to put in a bottle of water. Only thing in it is 5 calories. I also like sparkling water you can find at walmart: black cherry, key lime, and cherry limeade are some of my favorites. Sparkling water helps me stay away from other sodas and I get my fizz fix :)
