Welcome. Sounds like you're starting out well. Just keep going no matter what. Use a digital food scale to weigh and measure all food and drink and you should be good to go. As you go along you may need to change things up and do some experimenting--that's all normal. You're right that you don't need a specific diet or…

If the OP really knows what it is. If a friend invited you to a French restaurant and you were presented with soy sauce and chop sticks--what would you think? Wrong restaurant. The Med diet is sponsered by UNESCO. It is a real thing, not just a made up diet. It's known for it's healthy way of eating. Deciding to go with…

The photo makes me laugh. Chop sticks? Soy sauce? Salmon? They exist here, in Italy, but are not native to the Mediterranean. This does not mean that they are not healthy. Just that the OP is not in the know.

How many calories are you eating a day?

When I saw you weren't posting, I thought you must have had a power outage. Makes you think what winter was like for your ancestors. They had to make it through with true grit. We're softer.

This happens rarely. I got some great pics last time. Remember, there is no snow removal here so the next day is ice. However, the snow only lasts a couple of days.

We are in a serious drought---opposites. We're in the dust.

What a storm!!

Interesting---the OP has not been on MFP since 2019. I wonder how it all turned out. You can let us know if you manage to keep the weight off.

Congratulations on your weight loss, but if I'm figuring right, you're losing 3 kg (6.5 lbs) a week? You've been in a deficit for a month? Way too fast. As you yourself noted, you gained it all back before. Sustained weight loss teaches you how to eat for the rest of your life, so you can go into maintenance with all the…

Very nice! Fantastic transformation!

Sometimes it takes a good while for your weight loss and new look to register with your brain. I take any compliment that comes my way (I'm 68). I'd suggest that you practice responding with good grace, because if everyone is complimenting you, they truely think you look fantastic and one day you'll think so too. It's nice…

The Vatican is full of interesting people. Never crossed my mind that it was the Chief.

Since you're snowed in with time on your hands, you may want to check out --Carnevale Venezia. Today is Mardi Gras and the last day of Carnival. The costumes are gorgeous. Once I was in Venice for Carnival. It's elegant and seems like a dream world. Unfortunately most of the world shows up and it's elbow to elbow.

I told her she missed her calling. Should have been a DJ.

I "peel" celery. I learned to do it here in Italy. It takes off the tough outer strings. I use the peelings to make broth.

Finished my sewing--Nite.

Funny. I'm sewing knee patches on the little squirrel's school pants and watching a program on the Celts. They are showing their burial mounds in Austria and along the Danube through Germany. Poland was close. I was just thinking that my ancestors were surely Celtic. Something pulling me there. Old memories stirred--you…

You laugh, but there are exorcists here for real. Every now and again they interview one on TV. The things they tell make me shiver.

I babysat the squirrels this afternoon after school. The oldest squirrel told me that there was a ghost in their apartment because the TV turned on by itself. I made pasta with clams for dinner for all in honor of the littlest squirrel's birthday--it's his favorite. The whole crew was here and licked their plates clean…

I'll keep you company. :D :D

You and your kin are welcome anytime---seriously. It'd be an honor to show you my neck of the woods. We had the littlest squirrel's birthday party Friday night. Out for pizza with the family and the other in-laws and then cake and presents in the new digs. He's 4. He got a robot that tells stories, sings and dances, and…

I did a lot of work with bands at home when I had frozen shoulder. It helped so much, but agree that your doc should clear anything you try. Hang tight.

We live between the Coloseum and Termini. There is a lovely Fitness Center near us that we use---pool, gym, yoga, tai chi, posturale, total body, and the list goes on. It's called Santa Maria. My husband and I also jog-walk in the park most mornings. I'm not familiar with things in your area. Sorry.

I'm 68, an American, and have lived in Rome for 37 years. Welcome, and hope you enjoy the city and all it has to offer.

Whoawhere WERE you when you took this??? Aren't they roaring hungry when they come out of hibernation?

I love celery in a chicken or tuna salad--gives it a crunch. I use the inner tender part. The tougher outer stalks I use to make a celery potato cream soup. It's one of my favorites and low cal.

The rice will be the same amount of calories--cooked or dry. Cooked just means it absorbed liquid and has more volume. Make sure you count the calories in the other ingredients--oil, butter, cream, etc.
