The point is that he got that body by eating junk and processed foods---what people are always saying isn't possible. They then said OK, but his health must suffer. Over at least 2 years he did this and had blood work done periodically. It was always perfect. I would also like to say that he was the nicest guy. MFP is less…

Yes, there are photos up on the wall. The waiters and barmen are in tuxes. It's a fancy place. It's like having coffee and a roll in the middle of a museum.

For anyone else that's following, Caffe Greco is still there with the same look. It's near the Spanish Steps, in Rome. A lot of history there. Lord Byron was also a patron. Caffe Greco risked closure a few years ago even though it's a landmark.

Yeah--hard to believe, but I'm thinking that most of the research is probably done on overweight or obese individuals. Many people post that they know people that are thin and eat junk food, sweets,--whatever they want. I'm thinking that maybe people that are thin to begin with and eat correct amounts (naturally) for their…

Looks like Caffe Greco here in Rome. I shoed it to Lt. C. He agrees with me.

Once there was a long beautiful thread running by a guy who decided to bulk eating fast and processed food as an experiment. He had blood work done periodically--always perfect. Even he was astonished. He posted progress pics that were amazing. He was ripped. His thread was pointed out every time someone did a post like…

Weight loss is mainly being in a calorie deficit. Did you get your daily calorie goal from MFP? Do you use a digital food scale to weigh and measure all food and drink? That will be the most important thing you do. Then, if you can and want to, do some movement. Even walking is good to start. If you've never exercised…

I'm making these for supper + apple crisp.
-
Hope you get better fast! Yep--erase a couple of days.
-
As you lose your body gets smaller and you need fewer calories. You may need to update your daily calorie goal. Because you've said you've lost 20 lbs. this comes to mind.
-
It may just take you more time. You'll get there, just be patient. When running you can try "Powerwalking"--first 5 min normal walk, second 5 min medium speed, and 3rd 5 min a slow run. Repeat until your time is up. I do 40 min cycling these speeds. You can up your game as you get stronger and better--faster for longer.…

Messages are getting wiped again. Sigh.

Thanks for posting. THIS is what I always say----lurkers. It gets discouraging to keep answering the same questions over and over and try to educate an OP. It takes time to evolve weight loss and get the correct habits in place, but it's the only way to keep the weight off after reaching goal. Going against all the…

You don't say how tall you are or what daily goal MFP has given you. Do you use a digital scale? With 30lbs to lose, the going will be slow. You should be set up to lose .5 lb a week, and even then there will be weeks when it won't happen. You'll need patience and consistency. Good Luck.
-
I would ask if you're weighing and measuring all your food and drink with a digital food scale? Also MFP is set up to eat back exercise calories on top of your daily goal. What kind of burn are you getting with your exercise? Are you eating back all those calories?

Great loss! Congratulations.

I can sympathize hon. I had hotflashes from Hell, every hour, like clockwork, and they lasted exactly 5 min every time. My doctor wasn't into HRT so I had to soldier through. They started over 10 years ago and I still get a few everyday. Hope the hunger calms down.

Grams are in the data base. Just look a little harder. I find almost all my foods in grams.
-
I would ask what your doctor has to say. Do you have a support team through your medical? What you have done can seriously damage your health and you don't want to continue that. Disordered thinking is common and needs to be addressed or you'll just go round in circles. I wish you well and hope you reach out for the best…

It's hard because I know you try to give thoughtful answers, and it seems they're not appreciated. However, there are many "lurkers" that watch and never post. You may have helped someone else.
-
Don't know how it went down, but the OP can ask to have their thread taken down.

It's here now, arrived less than 5 years ago. It's expensive still. It's not a staple as in the States.

If you want to see it like this, you have to be there at 6 in the morning, or before.

My messages are disappearing.

I can only tell you that I'm American living in Italy for 37 yrs. Peanut butter and jelly doesn't exist---peanut butter is just arriving here in the past few years. Jelly--jam exist and are called marmelade. Jello--no problem, that doesn't exist here either.
-
Well....I think you know. Eat less. Plug your stats into MFP, get your daily calorie goal, get a digital food scale, start weighing and measuring everything you eat and drink, and stay within that goal everyday. Move more, walking is good to start. Good luck.
-
The first time is often that way. Don't worry, you'll get better. Don't push yourself too fast, and slowly increase as you feel you can do it. Starting from 0 is a big step. I applaud you. Just don't give up. In a couple of months you won't recognize yourself.

You do know that the OP posted in 2013---10 years ago?

Like the above poster, my husband eats lots of sweets and adds 2 packets of sugar to his coffee 2 or 3 times a day. He's 69 and has always been thin. His blood work is always perfect even though he eats mainly cheese. He is pescatarian and goes to the Fitness Center everyday. Great body. So, no, sugar is not the devil.

I live in Italy and we eat Mediterranean. The main thing is to use EVOO instead of butter or lard, for the most part. The rest is a balance of fruits, vegetables, legumes, different types of grains, fish, lean meats, cheeses, and dairy. The Mediterranean is a vast region including many different countries with different…
