  • Anywhere from twice a week to twice a month. I try not to log more than once a week.
  • Congratulations! I love walking as exercise. Only after months of that did I finally decide to try available elliptical (it's my new favorite).
  • Yeah, I'm managing about 0.5 lbs per week. It's taken me 6 months to lose 12 pounds (but I'm only trying to lose 20 to 25 pounds total). I'll be very happy if can keep this slow & steady loss up & then maintain.
  • This is so me! I'm 5'1 3/4", & I'll turn 38 this summer. My starting weight (6 months ago) was 153 lbs. I'm now down to 140, and have 5 to 10 lbs to go. I'm an emotional impulsive eater, which has been difficult to tackle. But my slow steady loss the last several months almost seems too good to be true. I hope I can keep…
  • My body does best with 9 or 10 hours of sleep a night.
  • A wrist-based HR is not nearly as effective as one with a chest strap. I love my FitBit One.
  • Way to go!! :grinning:
  • It took me about 8 or 9 pounds lost (after 3 to 4 months of counting calories) before I began to see a change. Other people still haven't noticed, and I'm now at 12.4 pounds lost. I have 6 (maybe 11) pounds to go.
  • I'm 5'2", and 140.4 lbs right now. My goal is 135 lbs (I'm busty, 36DD), so I don't want to go much below 130. I was 125 lbs in high school.
  • Still trying to lose weight & get healthy. I think it might be working this time though... I'm down 12 pounds from my highest-weight-ever (achieved that Sept 2014). I barely manage to get on my elliptical once or twice a week... but I've gotten REALLY good the last few months about being conscious of what, how much, and…
  • Yes, I'm an ADHD-er, too. I have issues with both impulsive eating, and mindless boredom-eating. When I'm on my meds ADHD (adderall) I find that it's much easier for me to pause & stop & think before I begin stuffing food in my mouth. I've been on Adderall for almost 15 years. When I first started, the appetite suppressant…
  • Late but, I feel you. I have to go on oral Prednisone when my asthma gets really bad. The first time I was on it I didn't know what it did to one's appetite/metabolism, and I gained 10 pounds in a week! In addition to completely screwing up my appetite it also makes me REALLY REALLY irritable. What I like to do is increase…
  • Yep, I have Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD. On Cymbalta for the Depression & Anxiety, it's my miracle drug, and I also take Adderall for my ADHD. The Adderall dampens my appetite a bit, but until I consciously began trying to lose weight it wasn't doing anything on its own for weight loss. It does help me stop my impulsive…
  • Do you all realize you're replying to something that's months old? I'm pretty sure this (dead) horse has been thoroughly beaten by this point.
  • Walking is probably the best. It's not free/cheap, but an elliptical is also great cardio and very easy on the joints. I have bad knees no matter how much I weigh. Swimming & water aerobics are also good choices.
  • I exercise because I don't want to be obese when I'm older. I exercise because I want to be in shape so I can be active & enjoy life. I've found that my elliptical is an exercise machine that I can tolerate. On occasion, I actually like it. It's easy on my knees, and I get a good workout. If my asthma flares up I can just…
  • I too am at a desk for 8-10 hours a day. I bring my lunch in an insulated lunch bag. I got a bigger bag so I can bring snacks along with my lunch. Snack items are applesauce, carrots, beef jerky, bagel thins with thin-sliced turkey breast & cheese. Lunch is usually health choice frozen meals, or occasionally leftovers. If…
  • I want to be below 140 lbs by January. So for me, that's a 10 or 11 lb weight loss. At 2.5 lbs lost per month for September - December, I think it's VERY doable!
  • If she's tried to diet in the past, she knows she has a problem. Dieting is extremely difficult, especially if your body is one that likes to store extra calories for possible future starvation. Will she consider weight loss surgery? You can't force her to do anything. But you can encourage her to walk around the block…
  • I knew after 6 months that my then-boyfriend was the one for me. But long-distance relationships are hard (I know this from experience). Long-distance relationships involving one person in the military risking life & limb on a daily basis? That's got to be a thousand times harder. Follow your heart, but don't forget to…
  • PND (UK) I believe is Post-natal depression It's known as PPD (Post-Partum Depression) in the US. One day at a time, I don't even have kids and I find the logging & making good choices to be VERY challenging some days. The only way I stopped myself from going out yesterday afternoon for ice cream was to tell myself that…
  • Also, in Eugene. :)
  • Being a petite 5'2" (short arms, legs, & torso), 90% of all stores are exclusionary to me. It's one reason why I'm starting to sew my own clothes. The other reason being I can't stand to wear polyester & other man-made fabrics. More and more the only clothes I can manage to find in a petite size are made of that dreaded…
  • I totally have to fight the stress/anxiety eating. Plus when I get heartburn I frequently can't tell if I'm actually getting hungry, or if it's heartburn.
  • {hugs} You've been through a lot. You CAN do this! I'm VERY VERY slowly losing weight. 7.5 pounds in the last 12 weeks. I have only 20 pounds to go, but I will have to carefully maintain for the rest of my life as I have an overwhelming family history of morbid obesity.
  • This! I've taken Trazodone for several years, and it's a miracle drug for me! I fall asleep fine without it, but I don't stay asleep nor do I get restful sleep when I forget it. I don't get restless legs with it at all, just a wonderful night's sleep.
  • Organic baby carrots (very low cal) and organic unsweetened applesauce (4oz container is 50 cals). Carrots give me the crunchy snack I crave, and the applesauce is a nice bit of sweetness. If I'm needing protein I add in 1oz of brown sugar steak jerky (70 cals).
  • Ice to reduce inflammation. Heat to relax/calm tight muscles. Gentle stretches, to preserve the range of motion you still have, and perhaps improve it some. If the stretching goes well, I'd add in some resistance bands (not hand weights or anything). My guess is that your shoulder wasn't strong enough to deal with a…
  • I've spent 4 of the past 5 weeks gaining & losing & regaining & relosing the same single pound. Give your body some time. Also, make sure you actually hit your calorie goal. It's there for a reason. :)
