You can also add pesto sauce (homemade or store bought) and it's pretty good too. My fave is just adding some olive oil and salt.

Target's C9 line mostly. Someone mentioned Costco - right now they have a new line of pants and top and jackets. They are fantastic and super low priced. These are better than the C9 things - wish they had more color choice.

They do! http://www.amazon.com/cooking-light-cook-smart-well/dp/0848732766 I have this one - it's good but I still like Everyday Food books better as the recipes are a bit less complicated and use more regular ingredients.

There's a new one out that is good - Everyday Food - Light. All the recipes are 500 calories or less per serving. I have the other 2 Everyday Food cookbooks and love them as well as the magazine. I've made 3 recipes from the Light book, and 2 were hits with the family. Not so much on the spice-crusted fish, but I'll keep…

I get up at 5am M-F, and probably 6:30am on Sat/Sun. I aim to be in bed by 10pm, with lights out by 10:30pm. Doesn't always happen but it seems to be enough sleep. I wake up early every day now, even without an alarm. Do it enough times and your body will adjust and wake itself up.

Ice them for 10 min at a time, for at least 3 hours (3x in 3 hours). Rest is also good, as well as properly fitting running shoes. There are some exercises and stretches he can do - here's one site: http://www.sportsinjurybulletin.com/archive/0161-shin-splints-treatment.htm

Definitely check the labels for the sugar content. Some brands are way higher in sugar than others. The plain, unflavored ones are low but also have much less flavor, imo. My favorite brand is Athenos - it's got 100 calories and only 9 g of sugar, compared to up to 20 g of sugar in the Chobani brands.

I'm pretty similar. Also 5'5", and have been an athlete most of my life. I was 172 when I started my journey, and am at 159 now, aiming for 140. I also carry my weight in my hips/butt, and as a former figure skater, my quads are huge. I am taking in 1220 cal/day, + whatever I burn in exercise.

Whatever you do, keep active. Moving while sore makes that soreness ease up. Congrats!

I hike 5 miles on Sundays, bootcamp every Mon - Fri, and try to do the elliptical for 60 min on Saturdays. But if i'm injured, or not feeling good, or traveling, I will take a day off and not stress out about it. I like how I feel after I exercise, so that's why I do it 7 days/week.

Yes, please post the recipe! It sounds delish.

I loved this kind called BucWeats. They don't make them anymore, sadly. But they were soooooo good! Maple-glazed wheat flakes. Mmmmm... memories. :-)

I find the recipes on the Everyday Food site really tasty, healthy and easy to make. It's Martha Stewart but not even close to the level of difficulty as the regular stuff, so don't be scared. http://www.pbs.org/everydayfood/recipes/ http://www.marthastewart.com/everyday-food

Cut out or severely limit your sugar. Watch out for too much fruit - it's still sugar, which converts to insulin and then to fat if it's not burned.

I plan each week's meals on Saturday or Sunday, taking requests from hubby and son if they want. I figure out what ingredients I need and add them to the list. I always make sure to have fresh veggies at every meal, and make sure I'm stocked up on my healthy snacks and other foods. I would recommend buying meats and fresh…

you could add cinnamon and/or nutmeg for flavor.

Oooh yes, I second this. This is quite good and no starches and not fried in oil.

I'm suffering from these too. I ran the timed mile on Monday since my legs were feeling good, but I paid the price and the shin splints are raging afterwards. I guess I'm not meant to be a runner either. It takes weeks for the pain to go away, but just one run will put me back in agony again. Drives me crazy.

This happened to me when I really ramped up my exercise. I was ravenous immediately after my workout, so I'd eat a good, protein-rich breakfast but was still incredibly hungry until lunch, even with snacks, and could barely make it til dinner. Now, I'm still hungry after the workout but breakfast seems to satisfy me, and…

I stopped eating the Hershey's miniatures in the candy jar at work. They refill it daily, but now I just walk on past.

I'm the same way! I was taking Saturdays off, but feel so good after each workout, plus adding in those exercise calories makes eating a whole lot easier! I do some serious cardio at the gym on Saturday, but it doesn't really feel like work. I say, work out if you feel like it!

I've always been a pear, and think I am destined to remain a pear. Even at my lowest weight, fittest body, my hips were big and I'm talking bones, not padding on top of bones.

A whole lot of celery?

Find some volunteer activities and sign up for them. Then you have something to work around, and you can fit in a workout before/after each activity. And then when you find a job, you will be in the habit. The volunteering will give you something worthwhile to look forward to as well. if you can afford an exercise class,…

Before and after each bootcamp session, we weigh and measure, including body fat. As of 2/5, I was 33.5%. Down from 36% on 1/9. So I am making progress, and inches show it too... could be muscle, you're right.

I've been losing maybe .5 lb a week and I've got MFP set to 1lb a week. I'm down 12 lbs total since October, and have about 20 to go. So maybe 20 is considered "close to goal"? I've always been athletic but I'm a lot stronger now and I'm getting some serious arm muscle definition (yay!).

Thanks all! I agree that eating too little is not good; pretty sure I'm not in any danger of starving myself. :-) I don't even have that empty stomach feeling - except when I'm hungry, and then I eat. In the afternoons especially, I am feeling overly full, stuffed, so I wait for that to subside before having a snack.…
