  • What are you having for meals? Good fats and proteins stay in the stomach longer and keep you satisfied.Low GI foods also keep your blood sugar levels steadier so you don't get peaks and troughs which leave you hungry, so make sure snacks are healthy. Also, make sure you're drinking enough as thirst is often mistaken for…

  • 'Diet treats' are a trap! Because they take out the fat (and often replace it with methyl cellulose for bulk), they then add sugar to make them more palatable. 'Diet' bars/cakes often have more sugar than regular.Have a banana or a nice piece of exotic fruit as a treat, the sugars are natural and better for you.
  • Fruit and vegetables and wholegrain. A word of warning tho', if you up your fibre you need to drink more water or other fluids too.Without them the fibre can cause constipation, weird as it sounds.
  • If you eat too little your body will think you're starving and hang on to the fat.You need more wholegrain carbs and protein.
  • Maybe you lost fat and gained muscle, which is heavier. I also know several people who say they plateau'd when they started exercising more- seems like the body wants to readjust, but if you persevere the weight starts coming off again.Bodies are a funny thing!

  • I like butter but can't eat it since I had my gall bladder removed, it gives me terrible indigestion. I use a small amount of light olive oil spread, which has no transfats.
  • Well done, you look fabulous!
  • Swimming is good exercise as the water supports you so there's less strain on joints and muscles, and it's something you can enjoy with the family too.
  • You will always have a better weight loss the first week or two, depending on how heavy you are. This is because the first thing you lose are your glycogen stores from the liver, which are bound up with lots of fluid, so you lose fluid weight too. When I was extremely heavy and started a diet before I lost 16lbs the first…

  • You look fantastic, and such a pretty dress! If you've got it, flaunt it........
  • Muscle does weigh heavier than fat.
  • I've never had any probs with artificial sweeteners, but if you want natural you could try fruit sugar. It's sweeter than regular sugar so you use less. You should be able to get it in the supermarket, if not, a health food store should stock it.
  • Pilates is good for backs as it strengthens your core muscles which support your back. You want the original pilates though, not power pilates or yogalates. Swimming is good for backs too as your weight is supported by the water. I have back probs but swim regularly.
  • Weighing every day is counterproductive,as your weight can fluctuate, often due to fluid. Once a week is best. If you want best results, weigh nude in the morning, before breakfast but after visiting the bathroom. Regarding fluid, remember ' a pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter', so don't get disheartened by sudden…

  • Looking cool and comfortable, well done!
  • Before you get into any kind of argument, ask yourself 3 questions: 1. Is it a matter of principle? 2. Will it change anything? 3.Can I live with it? Only go ahead if the answers are yes, yes, and no.
  • Remember the 80/20 rule. Eat really healthy 80% of the time and you can let up a little the other 20%.

  • Co-enzyme Q10 helps you get energy from food. You make it naturally in your body but if yours is low you can take a supplement. I take it because I'm on statins for high cholesterol, which deplete your natural stores.
  • I was a British WW member for years and did lose weight, but regained thru' comfort eating after my husband died. I didn't like the new ProPoints system as much, and then they made my leader move the meeting to a much less pleasant and less accessible venue as it was cheaper, so I stopped going. When I joined MFP I was…

  • Crosswords or sudoku keep the mind active! How about arts and crafts? Men also cross stitch, knit and sew. Painting or sketching. Model making. Scrapbooking.
  • Remember that you store fat round your internal organs too, so outside measurements don't tell the whole story. To get it exactly you'd need an MRI scan! Also women naturally have a higher bodyfat percentage than men because of needing it for childbearing . Your percentage does seem high if you're not overly overweight,…
  • polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are best eg olive oil. Actually food cholesterol doesn't have as big an impact as your natural body cholesterol, so blame your genes! As a rough guide, if it's solid at room temperature it's likely to be bad.
  • cauliflower is a good substitute for rice or mashed potato. Butternut squash cut into strips and roasted can substitute for fries or wedges and is very tasty. I like roasted Mediterranean veg eg baby plum tomatoes, sliced red onion, sliced courgettes (I think they are zucchini in US), sliced sweet peppers and garlic…
