Figure out your TDEE and eat around 10-20% less every day. That would be around 1 or 2 LBs a week. While deployed it seems to lose weight with out the temptation of fast food. Im currently deployed also and gained plenty of mass from lifting heavy and lost a good chunk of weight.

To burn fat you want to strenght train and do cardio afterwards and eat 10-20% below your TDEE calories. 1 pound of muscle is the same weight as a pound of fat. To get to heavy from gaining muscle would take years of heavy lifting plus eating at a surplus of calories above your TDEE.
