  • Hi from Cornwall, born in Sheffield and 17yrs in the Channel Islands.
  • My diary is public..but my eating is probably a bit boring. Feel free to look though.
  • 14lbs in three weeks, WTG ....it obviously works for you so don't change a thing...sounds an excellent way to go about it. I often don't fill mine in until evening..maybe I should take a leaf from your book.
  • It can be hard...a few years ago I lost 5 stone via a slimming club..(now regained plus 2!!!) I think one of the reasons that I did regain it was that I never actually accepted that I was slim...and I was.....when I looked in the mirror I was still fatter than my friends. I still bought clothes one size larger than needed…
  • Fantastic..well done..its success stories like yours that makes me believe that this time I can do it myself!!
  • Fantastic..well done..you look amazing...your journey will inspire me to attain my own goal..thank you.
  • If its a 'one off' don't worry. However not hitting your target or at least the minimum of 1200 calories per day over a prolonged period will ultimately result in either a plateau and no weight loss or the loss of lean body mass (muscle0 rather than fat.
  • Fantastic Group & Challenge..have sent weight in to join. Nice too see such an active UK group. Only been on here just over a week so still finding my way around. I'm a Northerner born & bred in Sheffield, but been living in Cornwall now for 12 years so going to join the Southerners....whoa my Dad is turning in his grave…
  • Hi and Welcome. Not from Australia but my niece, partner & grand nephew live in Melbourne. Can't wait to visit when I retire it looks wonderful!!!
  • Thanks for that I hadn't noticed the different ways its displayed..helps a lot!!
  • Not worry about it unless I think it might be a high salt ite. By the way 1.5gm is the minimum daily requirement for normal body health. Its actually quite hard to get under that unless as said before you eat 'clean' and never add salt!
  • Unless you have an underlying health problem where you need higher Sodium levels or living/working in a hot climate less is definately good. With the inclusion of salt into many every day processed foods unless you eat totally 'clean' its quite likely that you are actually eating more that MFP is showing. We need a lot…
  • I have wrecked knees as well..so I swim every week, sometimes twice (cost allowing), thats a great exercise which won't bother your knees at all..except getting out of the pool at the end..thats always a laugh!!
  • Without a doubt..everything..otherwise I'd be picking all day on grapes, strawberries, carrots, cherry toms...and easily eat a whole meals worth of calories!!!
  • Haven't got around to watching it yet, must try later today as tomorrows will be recording..then I'll be way behind.
  • If you are using fruit as a healthy snack then you are absolutely doing the 'healthy thing'. As an earlier poster said unless you are on a no/low carb diet or are a diabetic then as long as you record the calories and they are part of a well balanced days food with veggies & proteins included then no problem. I rather…
  • I don't think many people on here actually 'know' their MFP friends, infact they seem to be often on another Continent, but thats what makes both the site & the support great, we all have the same thing in 'common'!! Go for it....
  • Cannellini beans are good, infact quite a lot of the beans and pulses are protein rich. I sometimes make a lentil & bean soup in winter which is really filling, comforting & low in calories but good protein.
  • mines public, real food wherever possible but not quite clean eating.
  • Its possible to exercise even if you are chair bound. Google Chair bound exercise and see which ones you think you can do. Also check beforehand with your health professional to make sure the exercises chosen are ot going to aggravate any existing health condition. Good Luck & well done for taking the first move to…
  • Hi, 25gms of sugar is quite low and you can manually up this in your food diary from what I can see 40 grams of sugar as long as from healthy sources is usually the guide line for a normal diet., but not necessarily for a weight reduction plan. Also its a bit more complicated than this because carbs are also converted by…
  • Hi and Welcome. I've not been here long myself, however have already found it a daily inspiration. The food diary itself is an amazing tool..and there is all the support & more that you need to succeed on here.
  • Well Done, that is an amazing weight loss....I'm going to try and follow your lead over this coming 12 months. Thanks for showing me it can be done!! This site is such a daily inspiration!! Well done once again.
  • Sounds like your initial weight loss was a combination of water loss & stored Glucose, your body will naturally regain both as it has adjusted to your new restricted diet. As others have said you should concentrate on fitness & toning and eating a healthy diet, it seems unlikely that you need to lose 10 lbs!
  • I would say you would certainly feel hungry if that was all you ate all day. The fruits although fairly low in calories are med to high GI so your blood sugar goes up then whoosh down again so you feel hungry. The soup is OK but you don't say what sort, pretzels & crackers are OK but you could do with some veggies, grains…
  • Actually I am a health professional & my research is up to date. The important thing to note is that I recommended the source of protein to be low fat and avoiding where possible Red meat & dairy. I also have to say that as someone who spends a great deal of time giving Palliative care to people at the end of their lives…
  • Any UK people in this? What time does 12am Pacific mean in Greenich Mean time? I work shifts so some days will be weighing in a 5.30am but won't be able to get the image of my camera & onto site before early evening...could be tricky. Anyone over here done this..I would like to give it a go.
  • Hi, I work as a health professional with a background in nutrition. So sorry you are struggling...it can be very difficult. However you really need to work this out with your Diabetic Nurse...mainly because she will have the full picture of your condition an which type of insulin you are on can also make a big difference.…
  • I'm a newbie here too , but so far everyone has been very welcoming. Its a great place to be from what I have seen so far and the tools are great -especially the food diary, exercise record etc. Like you I have a lot to lose & also for medical reasons. I'm one of the older members & my knees are wearing out. Down here in…
